Filet was incredible, and whole wheat pizza in incredible. Very friendly staff and everything on the menu is fresh and homemade.

Best steaks in town, pork chops are amazing, and huge. This place is cozy as well, people I know love the pizza here but can’t bring myself to order anything other than the well prepared proteins. Sweet potato fries are great too. Can’t lose with this place… I Highly recommend

The Hickory is one of those great local places. They have one of the most extensive menus in the area, with a wide variety of dishes so diverse that you’ll find it hard to choose just one. The size & diversity of their menu means the ingredients that have to make your food fresh are substantial. The older look of the place adds a nice environment. The simple bar has enough variety to scratch most itches. While the parking is difficult & limited, & the place itself is small, it’s worth squeezing in for a bite. I’ve had many different dishes & entrees with success on every level. The service is always friendly & prompt, whether on a date or in a group of 8+ with children. Personally recommended though, is the Pizza. Wheat crust. Crushed red peppers in the sauce. Water Chestnuts, Italian sausage, with pepperoni on the top. Cut into squares. It’s a hidden gem of a pizza. Weird, yes… but come back & thank me after.

So so, not great/not bad… We broke with«tradition» at my office and came here for our yearly Christmas lunch. Well, at least we got the afternoon off from work! EXTREMELY limited parking(I parked next door at Advanced Auto!!), «something for everyone/no surprises» menu, and HIGHPRICED pizza…(You’ve got to make it SOLIDGOLD to get me to pay $ 25+ for a large!!) This is a Springfield institution, and I’m sure it’s been around FOREVER, and(really!!) I’m trying to be fair, but I guess I’m spoiled(rotten) and wanted something more than the feeling I was eating lunch in my grandparents’ basement(at least now I’m at the«grownup’s table!!») We started off with a variety of breaded/fried apps. The cheese balls were the best… Good, cheesy, and plenty of balls! My SPECIAL grilled cheese(oddly) included water chestnuts, and olives, which I luckily diverted. The side salad was tiny, served on a saucer(!!) and the SPECIAL French onion soup was too salty. Others had pasta entrees, an immense Mexican platter, and a NY strip that actually was the hit of the afternoon… HUGE! I think I should have gotten a burger… Nothing bad, nothing great, service was fine, and I’m sure people will continue to come here and enjoy good, comforting, middle-America food for many years to come. You might do better, but I suppose you could do a lot worse…

Place is small, dark, an needs very much to be updated. Didn’t care for my cold mashed potatoes and the waitress didn’t know what she was doing. Won’t be back!

I eat here often because they have the best burger in Springfield. Great steaks, wonderful ribs… and the Pizza? It has to be one of the two best in Springfield. Nice friendly family owned restaurant. The owners Ed and Kim Williamson always come out and talk to their patrons to make sure the food is good and the service is right. My nephew calls their pizza«Magic Pizza», because we can never finish. Its great for leftover breakfast. Had my first date with my wife here, and we come back every anniversary if we are in town.

Although I do not frequent this place enough, I’ve never once had to send my food back, nor have I ever had a bad experience at The Hickory Inn. They have a nice quiet bar to sit at, a few select draft beers to choose from, and the whole wheat crust pizza is to die for. Their menu is actually quite large to where you could easily go here once a week and it would be close to a year before you tried everything they have to offer. May I recommend their BLT pizza, it is like no other that I have ever tried anywhere else. The service is great also. I always tip large when I leave this place. They really make you feel at home.

Last night was the second time I’ve been here for dinner. The first was years ago and I don’t remember what I got, but I remember enjoying my dinner and the experience. We stopped by for a late dinner last night with family and I know they are known for their pizza so I went with that. I got the white cheese pizza and it was delicious. By the way, their small 12″ is more like a 14″ pizza. It was too much for one person to eat. Others at the table got subs and all seemed to really like them. The portions are huge and the menu is priced decent except the pizzas. The pizzas are pretty expensive in my opinion. Overall, the restaurant is kinda small and can get really crowded. The service is friendly and on top of things. I would definitely go back and of all the choices in Springfield, it is one of my top.

Our family eats here frequently. We love the pizza, ribs and sweet potato fries! Our only complaint is w the nasty bathrooms. Comparable to the worst gas station bathroom I’ve ever been in. The owners should really invest in an upgrade.

One of the classic places in Springfield for good food for more than 50 years. Certainly one of the top pizzas in town! Generous drinks and portions, friendly staff. Be ready for a line going out the door on a weekend night. The pork chops are outstanding!

Huge menu. They have soooo much to offer here. The all white pizza is especially good. A little pricey.

LOVE the pizzas! Unique wheat crust unlike any other you’ll find elsewhere. The restaurant is total 1940’s cabin style architecture and humble simple décor but don’t let that fool you! They have a great variety on their menu. You will wait on the weekends to get seated but it is worth the wait. Prices are of course higher than most any generic corporate chain restaurants in town but you aren’t getting generic corporate food here. Prompt and professional service every time!

Simply the best. Please do not judge a book by its cover. Hickory Inn is small and altogether unimpressive on the inside, and the dining room may not look like much, but I’d be devastated if the management changed a thing. Hickory is family owned and operated, and it shows. It is hands-down the BEST place to eat in Springfield, as evidenced by the fact that on most Fridays and Saturdays it’s a very long wait if you’re not a seasoned vet that knows to arrive right when they open their doors at 5:00. The menu is enormous. My family and I have been dining at Hickory for years(I’m from Springfield) and I have since moved to Dayton where my husband and I would still drive the 45 minutes back to dine there. We now live in DC but know that every time we visit family in Springfield, we’ll be eating at Hickory. Hickory pizza is a favorite among locals. Their crust is truly one-of-a-kind, and it’s the cheesiest pizza you’ll ever eat. The wheat crust is amazing. Other menu items of note: cheese balls — cheddar cheese cubes breaded and fried to perfection. They serve them with cocktail sauce and I do not dip them in that. Just eat them as is. Their Caesar salad is my favorite ever. Their dressing is oil based, and they always dress the Caesar perfectly. Hard-boiled egg is a surprising but welcome addition to the salad. Best French onion soup you will ever have. One more favorite would be the pork chops with cajun seasoning and a side of their spicy barbecue — for spice lovers only. The ambiance may be an acquired taste, but having frequented the restaurant for over 10 years now, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Conveniently located near Wittenberg University. Parking behind is tricky, but ample parking across the street and on the street available. Hickory Inn has Springfield’s BEST food and dining experience. The servers are always amazing, as are the bartenders. The menu is enormous and there’s something for everyone. My family and I always leave with smiles on our faces and full stomachs.

I ordered the hot wing salad w blue cheese crumbles and blue cheese dressing. It was iceberg lettuce w some radishes, carrots, and onion slices with a cut up chicken strip. The strip was not sauced, there were no blue cheese crumbles and the dressing was so thick it was really a dip. I couldn’t get it out of the dressing cup. It was homemade but it was just blue cheese and mayo. Not very tasty. Pass on the hot wing salad. It was $ 8 for bleh. It’s been 12 years since I’ve been here and will probably be 12 more. They were watching the price is right and it was so loud I think employees in the kitchen could hear it.

Well been going here for years but all of a sudden i see service that is sub par u can’t tell the waiters and watresses from the customers they don’t wear uniforms. Then the food took my fiancé there for our one year anniversary she ordered raviolo it seemed like it was dumped out of a can for 18 bucks not worth it. then u can hear the manager yell at the staff very unprofessional even if the wait staff was poor attitude relects leadership. we are going for pizzza only from now on the steaks used to embarass the texas road house now they are small over priced and pathetic.

Visited on a Wednesday evening. I had a fried fillet of Haddock with steamed veggies, and my associates each had the Chicken Parmesan. The food was decent, but not great. The salads are Iceberg lettuce — no good. The service was okay, but served by someone who was not one of «Dayton’s finest». The kitchen was quite slow. All in all, it was okay, but there is better food and service to be had elsewhere in the area.
