I was traveling in Springfield for a marathon, which I do a lot. I have seen very good hotels and very bad hotels crossing all 50 states off, and this is one of the best. A pancake dinner for guests the night before(carb load). Extra towels, no questions asked. Late check out, sure. Laundry, you bet. Even early breakfast for the runners leaving at 5 am. Can’t speak more highly of this IHG property.

Stayed here to ski at Okemo. Easy drive to Ludlow, but a solid half hour away which was a burden. But for $ 100 less a night than anything closer to Okemo, worth it. Springfield is a sleepy town, but there are conveniences and some restaurants. Picturesque historic mills and a river through town. Appears to be nothing btwn Springfield and Ludlow — just the drive. The hotel: clean, our room w. King sized bed was a good size w plenty of floor space for our gear, free breakfast w hot and cold options, plenty of free parking, and the heated pool is definitely warm! Not a hot tub, but helped w sore muscles btwn day 1 and day 2! Good choice if you’re looking to save money.

We were pleasantly surprised! This Holiday Inn is fresh and clean with all modern features – from bathrooms to carpet, etc. it’s been here awhile but feels new and not at all run down. The staff were very kind. In fact, I had to ask at the desk for more syrup at the free breakfast because it had all been taken and they came and restocked and were unnecessarily apologetic. One of the staff came and gave me a mini jug of real maple syrup just as a kindly gesture. So nice. We didn’t use the pool but stopped by. It also looked really nice. We brought our dog and that worked nicely too. We were on the far end with easy access to a door so we could take her out very easily. The free breakfast, as free breakfasts go, was good. And not just crappy continental stuff. They had eggs and a pancake making machine, etc. We wish they didn’t use styrofoam plates and such for the breakfast – it is Vermont after all – but if that’s the only complaint I can come up with I’m feeling it’s pretty minor!

We have stayed here for the past few years for a long weekend. Originally, this was an old Howard Johnson’s and all the rooms were recently renovated. The beds were extremely comfortable and everyone was very friendly. It is conveniently located right off I-91 in Springfield, Vermont. We have stayed there while visiting The Vermont Country Store — both in Weston and Birmingham which is between both stores. As for restaurants, there is a lovely restaurant about ¼ mile away from the motel called Blackrock Steakhouse which serves steak, seafood, chicken, and other things. They have a great dinner menu. The indoor swimming pool is a great asset especially after dinner when most of the businesses are closed. It is a very quiet place to stay.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean. The rooms were modern and comfortable. There was a mini fridge in the room, nice linen and comfy bed. The hotel is right off the highway, which is very convenient. They have a small game room and free cookies. The free breakfast in the morning was also very good. I would stay here again.

Hard on I-91 this is a good choice for people who are driving up late, or planning to leave early, and not in the mood to navigate the rural routes after(or before) as the case may be. Also, as a national chain with a fairly well-enforced brand standard, this property gets you a reliable level of service when many of the other lesser chains(Best Western) and independents closer to Okemo and Killington look(and are reported to be) much more sketchy. We found this property to be in very good kitchen, soup to nuts, including a properly-appointed and –maintained rooms, a big and well-equipped gym, and an indoor pool. The breakfast is(as of this writing) seven days a week with extended hours and a «deluxe continental» service. This means typical baked goods /breads, spreads, several kinds of cereal, juice, coffee and tea, pre-made omelets, biscuits and gravy, and bacon. No waffle bar(the Marriott breakfast signature), no potatoes. The hotel is a 25-minute drive to downtown Ludlow and Okemo skiing in typical weekend traffic, perfectly acceptable. The drive to Killington is(in my opinion) too far. A note on the rooms. The«double» rooms have two FULL beds, not kings or even queens. A tight fit if you’re doing more than two people in the room. Pricing is quite reasonable for the quality and the location convenience(if the location factor above works for you).

Not bad– I agree with most of what Julie O. wrote in her review about this hotel being in the middle of nowhere with very little around.(There is a gas station across the street and a Shaw’s supermarket about 5 minutes away in town of Springfield.) However, my room was clean and odor-free, front desk staff was friendly and accommodating, free breakfast was a nice variety of hot and continental choices. No, it’s not fancy but you pretty much know what you’re going to get with a Holiday Inn Express brand. Use Priceline for discounted rate– it’s an even better deal. Very close to I-91 so chances are, you are probably only here to stay the night while passing through this area… you can’t ask for much more.

this one’s a toughie! on the one hand its is difficult — when traveling INTHISAREA of Vermont for business– to find a decent hotel that is not a B & B. Most are either seedy motels with neon signs and«free adult movies» or super pricey B &B’s that are more like resorts. I will also give the Holiday Inn Express this: they are close to the highway, about a quarter of a mile from I-91, there is free breakfast, free WiFi, mini fridges and micro’s in every room, and decent pillows. HOWEVER: when I got to my room it smelled really strange, like they hired an old, homeless man to roll around in it. Not like Cig. smoke per-se, but a little… off. The window was left unlocked(creepy) and I’m thankful that I checked it(i was on the first floor). The curtains were pretty grimy, dirty, greasy finger prints all over it(I understand that a lot of truckers pass through here… that might also explain the smell) also, the curtains did not completely close, which was irritating There is nowhere easy to eat that is close by except a subway across the street. One night I ended up driving to Keene, NH for soup. there is a serious lack of things to do. INCLOSING: i wish there was another option for accommodations around here. I will probably reroute my travels next year to avoid this place. the mountains are pretty, but the smell was not, even my overpowering vanilla body spray could not mask the overwhelming aroma of dirty-dude. the staff is nice but it was also clear that housekeeping knew they didn’t have to try too hard. I have paid less for way better, at over $ 100 dollars a night, save your money and go south dear travelers!(or west or north or east)
