Ordered carry out Kung Pow chicken, dinner menu. The food was ok for Inauthentic American-Chinese carry out cuisine, except the portions don’t match the price. I could have gone to a Panda Express drive– through for similar food, larger portions, and a cheaper price.

One of my favorite Chinese places in the area. I am a vegetarian and I love this place! I deliver at a different Chinese place and would rather go here instead. My go to dishes are egg fuyung, salt and pepper tofu, spring rolls, and MYGOD their best dish even when I still ate meat is their KUNGPAOTOFU. The thought of just the aroma of it is enough to make me salivate. Usually one would assume the general tsos tofu is the way to go, but in this case it is definitely the KUNGPAOTOFU. I’ve always done pick up orders so I can’t comment on much else. I go here so often the store owner knows me and my order and we exchange some friendly words. He is cool. 5⁄5. PEACE.

Best Chinese Carryout in the area, tried many other ones but this one is a Winner. Keep it up Hong Kong Express & only improve from here on! Never sell customers what you wouldn’t eat nor sell to your own family members. Many other Carryout places don’t get that concept but so far Hong Kong Express gets it. Keep it up guys or I’ll be updating my review.

This place isn’t bad at all. I don’t know if it’s because we live so close by but it was a pretty quick delivery and everything we ordered was all there(I know sometimes deliveries have a tendency of forgetting one or two items). I ordered the lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, hot and sour soup, and pork egg foo young. all were great! lo mein was on the slight greasy side that made it seem pretty heavy but other than that, it’s really good for the price! not to mention, i think this is one of the cheaper restaurants around my area and maybe better than the other chinese carry outs.

I’ve ordered takeout from Hong Kong Express several times in the past year or two. It’s fine. It will fill you up and prices are on par with Chinese takeout places in Northern Virginia(i.e., it’s about 30% more expensive than what you’d expect for a strip mall takeout joint, but maybe their rent is outrageous, so … meh). The food itself? This restaurant really has its own style of cooking things. It’s different than the many takeout places I’ve frequented in my life, mainly in MD and NJ. It’s like the food isn’t cooked hot enough … as if their stoves don’t produce enough BTUs to get a good«wok hei.» As a result, the food can be underwhelming. One other thing I’ve noticed lately is that the food is WET. I don’t mean it’s greasy. I mean there’s a good 1⁄3 cup of liquid in every container I get. Recently, my general tso’s was literally up to the brim in liquid(not thick orange sauce) and I’ve had Singapore noodles just soaked, with noodles all broken and no longer than ½″ long. Egg foo young that’s soggy and limp? Makes me question whether it’s fresh or not. Can I expect better? Should I expect better? I don’t know, but this is the closest Chinese takeout I have, so it’s probable that I’ll be back in the future.

We only get their combination fried rice here. But the reason why we love it is because they are always consistent! It’s hard to find consistency in Chinese Food restaurants these days, and for that we’re very greatful! Thank you!

My mom discovered this place for its amazing egg rolls. I went in for myself to try the egg rolls and the food, but the food(schezuan shrimp, pepper steak, general tso, lomein) was not very good. Portions were mediocre and the flavor was too covered in grease to notice. The egg rolls are greasy but the filling has shrimp, beef and veggies so it evens out… or so we thought… I ordered 20 egg rolls for my family and we found a mysterious dark colored object in one of the egg rolls. We are guessing it is part of a box. So gross. I am attaching pictures. Also, customer service is not that great. I asked for the hot chili oil sauce, and the worker or owner gave me 3 small packs. I asked for more since I ordered a large number of egg rolls, and she retorted that the amount she already gave me was«a lot». I had to ask her twice for more of the sauce and she ket replying that she had already given me «a lot».

I give 4 stars only bc I haven’t been here a few times and tried a few items to determine if they are consistant. I also have not tried their delivery service. I stopped here for a carry-out lunch. The establishment was clean, they guy who took my order was friendly and spoke and understood English easily. I happened to have to use the bathroom and that was clean as well :) The food came out quickly, hot/fresh, and was very good(I got chicken and broccoli). Broccoli was perfectly done(not undercooked OR soggy) and generous without making you feel like they’re trying to rip you off by filling your plate with vegetables instead of meat. Overall, a good experience and I would definately go back to try more menu items.

Not happy. We ordered an amount of food tonight for a couple people plus some lunch leftovers. Delivery in the past has not even a problem until now. A sweet girl delivered but the food was halfway mediocre. Let me start with the mobile ordering. It wouldn’t allow me to add free crab rangoon coupon so I added that in my comments. Guess what? No crab rangoon, even though I qualified for it. $ 33.60 subtotal. Egg rolls came so greasy I use four napkins to squeeze mine and it was still dripping grease… Disgusting and not edible. There’s $ 3 pissed away since we ordered two and they came soaked. Chicken Wings were greasy. and we had to peel the skin off to ingest them. Entrées arrived seemingly OK but someone overfilled something and it sloshed all over the bag. Leaky containers are not cool. Not happy with them right now. Not to mention said slop soaked into a rice container on the way here.

Man how I’ve missed good Chinese food! I’ve just moved from Indiana where the best Chinese we could find was Panda Express(I am not joking… I know this is beyond sad) so I was really eager to get started trying out some local restaurants! I used Hong Kong Express’s online ordering service and I liked how well it worked — sometimes these sites can be clunky or out dated but this one worked well. I was able to find everything I wanted(Beef with Broccoli, Fried Dumplings and Shrimp Fried Rice) and because I ordered over $ 15 — the mandatory minimum for delivery — I got two egg rolls for free. I had to pick for the food to be ordered 45 minutes later, even though the website said I could pick ASAP, but that was okay because I had to run a quick errand. Well on my way back I got a call that they were already there! Luckily I was only two minutes away because they came 15 minutes earlier than the time I was forced to select. The delivery guy was not disgruntled at all, he politely apologized(yes apologized for being quick — haha!) and waited. When I arrived home he was very nice and I complimented him and his restaurant for being quick! So just know that if you want your food delivered at a specific time, they might be a bit early. Upon trying the food, it was all delicious! I have missed fresh fried dumplings so much — they were obviously handmade and filled with yummy meat. They had quite a good flavor on their own! Next I tried the shrimp fried rice — it was a little bit greasy, but I’ve never had fried rice that isn’t. The veggies were crispy and the shrimp well cooked. I couldn’t believe how much they gave me! I know what I will be eating all week. I then tried the egg rolls, I almost cried when I saw them. I’ve become brainwashed into knowing tiny pre-made egg rolls were the usual, these were huge! At least four inches long, an inch and a half wide and filled with delicious meat and veggies. I had to cut the one I ate in half because it was so big! I was glad I got to try their egg rolls — such a nice free add on. Finally I tried out my beef with broccoli. The beef was not stringy, it was melt in your mouth perfect. The sauce was not too salty and not too bland and the broccoli was pleasantly crispy. I also can happily say all of my food was still very warm, the reason I ate the beef and broccoli last was because I had to let it cool off some! Overall I would definitely be ordering from Hong Kong Express again, but first I have lots of leftovers to eat!

After 14 years in Northern Virginia, there is finally Chinese takeout that is fresh, seasoned well, and decent ingredients. This is hands-down the best Chinese food in the Fairfax area that delivers. We’ve had the various seafood dishes, the chow fun noodles, and vegetables, all are good. I did not give five stars because the chow fun lacked flavor.

I always get excellent service here, fresh, hot and fast preparation of food — and it is CONSISTENTLY perfect! The prices are extremely reasonable, and they are always friendly when you walk in. The store is extremely clean, and very bright. Tables are set up for customers, and they are as happy to take your order for take out as they are for dining in. I have to say that I agree with other previous posters. To me, the standard for a Chinese restaurant is how their eggrolls are. I’ve had plenty of greasy, chewy, and otherwise bland eggrolls elsewhere. We are always VERY impressed with the fresh and crispy eggrolls from this store, no matter what time of day you are ordering! Never chewy, always crispy and fresh, they are excellent here! And, if you look at their online coupons they sometimes offer two for free with a minimal order. They include every item you need when you order, and I have never had to go back and ask for anything more. Orders are consistently correct, and so hot that even after the drive home I have to blow items off before I eat them because they are just that hot. I really appreciate that they separate the chicken from sweet and sour chicken from everything else, and their fried rice is great! No mush here — fresh all around! Really, I am happy EVERY time I go here — thank you so much for being an excellent restaurant so near by! I do have one question, though… ever since moving to NoVA I have not seen anyone who even knows what shrimp chips(prawn chips) are, and they never serve them with soup. I can accept the chow mein noodles, but where are shrimp chips? When asked, they have no idea what I am talking about!(other restaurants)…

Pros: Super fast. I walked in to order Combination Lo Mein for my grandmother, and within 5 minutes I had my order. Cons: The extent of their customer service was grunting as they took my order… but really, I don’t mind either way because I didn’t go in w any high expectations. — The food — Although I can’t eat at Chinese food due to my severe dietary intolerances, I could smell the MSG through the to-go order bag. The food smells artificial(expected), but overpoweringly so.

***delivery review only*** I was very pleasantly surprised by this place! It beats most carry out/delivery Chinese options in the area hands down! You know how typically when you get egg-rolls delivered they are a bland greasy mess? Not so much here! Also if you like veggies that taste like veggies(as I do) and not mush or freezer burn you will be ecstatic that theirs do! They also offer combos with fried rice that are only a dollar more than their lunch special. That’s awesome! Great food, great prices, great portion and they are very realistic with expected delivery times. I will not hesitate to order again when I am craving Chinese.

Honestly, we order from this place like twice a week. That’s how much we love them. They always get our food here quickly and it’s always hot and fresh. What I like that they’re not overly saucy, so you can taste the actual food. Plus, it’s minimally MSG-y. And the menu has a zillion items on it. For $ 42 for lunch including tax this is what the six of us got: 2 orders of Hunan Chicken/hot & sour soup Chicken Egg Foo Young/hot & sour soup Spicy chicken lo mein with wonton soup and eggroll Szechuan Beef with eggroll and a soda Chicken Noodle Soup with extra chicken I am the one who ordered the chicken noodle soup. It’s a giant container of hot hot hot chicken stock filled with parboiled chicken, broccoli, water chestnuts, carrots, and pea pods. They put the ramen noodles on the side in a separate container so you can mix and match your meal. I’ve had this, the General Tso’s chicken, and Chicken with Broccoli and I keep coming back to this one. And oh — they forgot our egg roll the other time we ordered so they gave us TWO extra with our order(making it 3 for 1). I love them. Shai Shai, Hong Kong Express.
