We live five minutes away and we love this place! It’s not fancy, but the atmosphere, with its paneled walls and dim lighting, have the feel of a neighborhood hangout, which is what we prefer. Seafood night is our favorite night to go; you can’t beat the crab legs and steamed shrimp for the price. We also usually order a side of biscuits, which are served warm — out of this world! Other favorites are the seared ahi tuna and the mozzarella sticks, which are HUGE and actually contain cheese(not just hollow breading). The only(minor) complaints I can think of aren’t worth deducting a star off of food this good: 1) The deck is nice, but smoking is allowed there. On one particular rainy evening when the bar area was full, a manager offered seating on the deck, but when I walked out there, it stank worse than an ashtray. I think it was worse than usual because the weather necessitated that the plastic enclosure remain closed, so there was no breeze to clear the air. I came back in and was(reluctantly) allowed to sit in the restaurant area with my bar food. 2) On busy nights, service is spotty; expect to have to flag down a server for everything.

I went here for the first time last night and service was awful! Walked in waited ten min to be greeted. We did not know the bar areas was self seating so we also faulted ourselves rather than the staff because the kitchen apparently was going to close in 15 min after we walked in while the bar stayed open another 4 hours. We found a table and had not had the chance to sit down before our waitress comes over without introducing herself and asks if we wanted anything to drink(we had not even gotten menus yet) she actually seemed surprised that we needed menus to see the beer list and appetizers. The rest of the time she gave us attitude and never smiled. When we were ready for the check after well all declined a third round of beer we watched her sit against the wall and text her friends for 10 minutes.(If you are going to text instead of working at least do it where you are not in direct eye sight of your table) The only thing going for this place is the price, 6 beers between the three of us and 2 appetizers for 50 dollars is not horrible. They also play all the Virginia Tech games(GOHOKIES) so I may consider going back and seeing if it was just a bad night for them

Service was slow. Our server Madeline was uninformed about the menu. Two orders came out incorrect. The food was unappealing. The fish sandwich was dry and tasteless. Rice tasted as if it was a few days old. The burger was edible. Salmon was dry and tasteless. I will not be returning to Kilroys.

Smelled weird, the vibe was off, not a brown face anywhere. It sounded like live music was playing on the other side. The Mac n cheese fell short and the salad was okay. Will not be back. Not my style.

Stopped by on Monday evening. $ 6 burger Mondays are a great deal. Friendly neighborhood bar, the way it should be. Special thanks to the lovely Pepper and all the staff for a warm welcome.

What the hell? I was raised in Annandale and had ignored this spot for 25 years. I’m an idiot. The prime rib here is the way I like it. Simply seasoned and tender. Other places like the Great American chain places or Outback will over season it or put some type of spice crust on it. Not my thing. Next time I am back in Annandale, I will be sure to stop back here for a prime rib. Service was good. Hopefully, I won’t wait another 25 years.

Been coming here for years, total neighborhood bar but always a good time and great food. Brunch has always been magnificent and the staff loves their job. Definitely a great place to get drunk and eat.

Came her to watch a game– they have lots of tv’s, and changed to my game when I requested. A big bar area with lots of high top tables. Service was very good, waitresses were very attentive. I ordered garlic wings and Guinness and they were good, and extra crispy as I requested. The manager was nice to me, bought me a drink after warning me that he might have to move me to accommodate a large group. I ultimately didn’t have to move– yet he bought me a drink for being agreeable. They played 80’s music and the crowd was mostly 40ish white people, mostly men. There is a separate large dining room away from the bar area. A back deck where people were smoking– the door would get left open and the smoke wood waft into the bar, that was kinda gross. I’ll come back and try another menu item. I enjoyed this place. Nice people, good food, good atmosphere.

A friend and I have been meeting for lunch at Kilroy’s almost every month for the last 10 years. We always used to order their prime rib sandwich — medium rare — which we loved. However, over the last six months or so, it has not been available at the medium-rare temperature. It is apparently left over from the night before, and the best they can do is medium or medium well. Yuck! If it is on the menu, it should be available the way everyone likes it – or else take it off the menu for lunch. I have been there for dinner and ordered the same thing which was then available and which I enjoyed as usual. I have complained, but apparently it is not important enough for them to change. I find this to be very annoying and completely unsatisfactory. Perhaps it is time to find another restaurant where we can meet. I guess the complaint of two customers is just not important enough.

This is a spot that we come to fairly regularly. The biscuits alone are worth the trip. Everything well proportioned for the price, and definitely try the Sunday brunch. All you can eat, plus eggs/omelets and waffles are made fresh to order. Dinner is good too. The prime rib is something to try at least once in your life. Like the décor also, lots of posters up from the Second World War.

Got tired of waiting for menus after I finished my beer asked for the bill and saw I was charged for the drink I ordered my son that no one ever brought. Not returning.

Living Social/Groupon had a deal which, if you have read my other reviews know I cant get enough, I could not pass up. My family is a big steak eater. They will try and eat at any establishments that offers steaks. Once you arrive at Kilroy’s, you’re hit with a «family-fun-vibe». Everyone knows everybody there, there’s regulars passing in and out. The fan base for sports is ridiculously awesome! The bar/seafood area makes you feel comfortable and you could let loose. The seating/dining area is cozy with lots of artifacts on the walls so kids are always interested looking around. The servers and hostesses are always soooo friendly. And so far, everything we have ordered has been great. We have visited Kilroy’s about 6 times in the last 3 months and each time just keeps getting better and better. –Steamed Cajun Mussels: If you like Spicy Mussels, this is the dish for you. It comes in 1 lb or 2 lb choices and I believe on Tuesdays or maybe everyday, there is a special on the 2lb option. The mussles are cooked perfectly and the sauce its cooked in is perfectly married together with the spicy and lemon and butter– mmmm makes my mouth water just thinking about it. You also get the option of adding penne pasta to the bowl for $ 3 – 4 and it also comes with garlic buttered bread to dip into the sauce. –Kilroy’s Famous Prime Rib: Cut perfectly and made to perfection. The sides I can live without(very generic sides) but the meat is so tender and depending on how you like it cooked, its always cooked just the way you want it. –Hawaiian Prime Rib: For a sweet version of the Kilroy’s Famous Prime Rib, this is the one you want to try. It is cooked with pineapples and almost like a soy sauce barbecue mix and served with a bed of rice to absorb all that juicy goodness. –BBQ Baby Back Ribs: This one is a hit or miss. First time we ordered, it came out soo juicy and tender. The next time we ordered, it came out a little tough and dry, maybe a little over cooked? But both times, the flavor was delish! It comes with coleslaw and fried and if I am not mistaken, Tuesdays they have an all you can eat special. And we cant forget about our kids menu– –Chicken Platter: Great portion of chicken tenders and fries. The tenders were cooked well, not dry, still got the juices inside. The best part is the honey mustard sauce that it comes with. You cannot have tenders without it. –Spaghetti: A bit bland and does not come with any meats. We had to order meat balls(or in this case, 1 big meat ball). But also a bit bland. My little one did not like that so much and he is a biggg fan of spaghetti. Overall, I would only come if there were another livingsocial/groupon deal. It is very comparable to Outback. OMG!!! I FORGOTABOUTTHEBISCUITS!!! I grew up in the area surrounding Kilroy’s; my mother and I have made Kilroy’s a ‘tradition’ every time I come home to visit her. We tend to sit in the restaurant(versus bar) part of the establishment and we order the chicken tenders and prime rib sandwich every time we go. The quality is always great and the waitresses remember us! We don’t go for the TV’s, or the bar scene, but rather for a consistent, homey, comfortable meal for a good price. I recommend eating their fries dipped in their gravy.

Wow! My husband and I went here for the first time for Sunday brunch. Our family was out of town and this was such a yummy place! Belgian waffle bar, omelet bar, and breakfast bar! Everything was so good. I’ve not found one place that compares to this around Alexandria/Springfield. I hate when I go out for breakfast and it’s not as good as what I can make myself. We went right when they opened that day at 11am. I feel like the omelet bar line can get a little long but it’s worth it. It’s super fun watching the guy make 5 omelet sat one time as well! This buffet kept me full all day and I’ll definitely be going back!

I live in the area but I haven’t been to Kilroys in 5 years. When I tell you that it hasn’t changed a bit, I mean, literally that it. has. not. changed. The décor is the same but dustier and the interior could definitely use a face lift. That said, they have some decent HH specials, including wings that my friend claims are pretty darned tasty. Monday Night Football was the reason for my foray to Kilroy’s and there was good sized crowd in the bar for HH(crowded in a good way — not packed). Service was a bit slow but I’m not sure if there weren’t expecting the number of people on a Monday night or if they are just slow. Anyway, our servers were nice but we had to summon them to get attention — they were not proactively«checking in». My meal was the french onion soup and two beef sliders and they were OK. The onion soup was flavorful, hot and cheesy Overall this is a nice neighborhood spot, nothing to write home about but a good place to chill if I want to stay close to home. I would not make a special trip to Kilroy’s though, nope, not at all.

Prime rib dinner combo special every Friday — can’t go wrong with that. It’s a good deal for the amount of food you get. I got a medium rare prime rib, a side salad and steamed veggies. You also get some fatty bread as an appetizer. Make sure you get there before 6 pm so you’re in on the special. The restaurant is really dated with a much older crowd. I think I’ll return for their seafood night.

I overlooked the outside construction because it will add curb appeal when they finish. As I stopped in for lunch I asked my waitress her opinion between three items I thought I might like for lunch. She immediately suggested two others that were nothing close to what I told her I liked. I ordered the turkey deluxe sandwich stressing on wheat toast and no mayo. It was served on bread and slathered in mayo. I had to send it back. By the time it came back the original order of beer battered fries on the plate were cold. When I told my waitress I was done(I ate half of the sandwich) she asked if I wanted a box to take the rest home. I told her no, the sandwich was very average and the fries were cold. She asked if I wanted dessert!!! LOL! No clue… This place is in a great location but don’t expect much from the food side.

So, a dive bar with video trivia, a military theme, friendly staff, and an owner that ribs me for holding my wife’s purse then buys me a whiskey shot to make up for it? Yes to all the things! Burgers are good, they have craft beer on tap, and decent whiskey behind the bar. They support veterans(given the owner is one), have a fun crowd, and I’ll definitely be back to this place.

Walking in we felt like we went through a time warp. It is dark inside, it took our eyes a few minutes to adjust. The décor is WWII-era advertising, support, and information. The tables are dark wood and the booths have high backs. It was clean which is impressive given all the wall decorations. The clients were older although being a Sunday afternoon there were a couple of families with young children. We both ordered hamburgers that were pretty good although the buns were really thick(I just removed the bottom half of the bun.) We also ordered the tater tots with toppings(cheese and bacon). They were good — they are not on the menu but I misread and asked for tater tots with toppings(the tater skins and tater tots are next to each other on the menu and I apparently merged…) The waiter was paying attention, realized my misread and said they could do it with the tater tots as well. If you read my reviews then you know that matters to me and has me thinking I will visit again. It was quite and comfy. The staff we encountered were friendly, helpful, and attentive. I could tell they are working on the menu. There were certainly items from the 80s but it did not seem overly stuck, there were items that have trended more recently, the tater tots for example. Likewise, they have sweet potato fries and pretzel buns available. They know they are old school but acknowledge some more current bar food trends. I don’t expect kale chips or chipotle mayo and that is OK. It felt like a comfortable place to sit and chat. They have several different theme specials(ribs, tacos, and seafood) which might be worth trying.
