Little Red Farm Nursery is a lovely hidden jewel for Eugene/Springfield gardeners. If you live in Eugene it’s a little out of the way, but the setting is darling and peaceful. Bob and crew are so knowledgeable about just the right plant for the right spot and conditions. A very different(in a good way!) experience than you’ll get at a big box garden center.

I’m surprised to see that the Little Red Farm does not yet have any Unilocal reviews. Perhaps its somewhat hidden location has kept the place a secret from so many locals. Hidden away on the outskirts of Springfield next to a lovely hazelnut farm you’ll find this beautiful little nursery that has a wide variety of flowers and garden decorations. This is where I purchased an absolutely beautiful mini greenhouse, delicate with real glass, which now safeguards my tropical plants from my greenery obsessed cats who are known, on occasion, to nibble on plastic plants too. The true treasure at this nursery though is their wide selection of stunning baskets. I have never in my life seen such gorgeous fuchsias, begonias and other hanging plants. They create lovely combinations and sell them for very reasonable prices. Unfortunately I did manage to kill two of them(though the others flourished and were magnificent all season), but they are actually happy to take back any problematic plants/baskets and exchange them for new ones. This is a major plus for a beginning gardener such as myself who kills the occasional plant by over/under watering/fertilizing.(Man this plant stuff can be tricky, especially when they’re in pots.) My only suggestion for improvement is the quality of their plants at the end of the season. They are now on sale and are looking a little behind in maintenance.(Rosebuds need to be pinched off, seedpods on fuchsias, and so on) However, they’re having a major sale now(30−40% off, I think because it’s the end of the summer plant season, not sure as I’ve never gone after July) and much of their stuff has already sold anyway, so can’t blame them. I still saw a number of beautiful baskets and other plants though, so it’s not yet too late. Overall, I would probably go to a larger greenhouse if you’re planting a whole garden and need lots of trees and bushes and such to plant from, but for flowers, garden decorations and especially hanging baskets, Little Red Farm Nursery is without question the #1 place to go in the Eugene/Springfield area!
