Great food and super fast service. The crab dip literally arrived at the table in under five minutes. Steaks were exceptionally well cooked to perfection. The pecan trout was very different and very remarkable especially the sauce that had the perfect combination of sweetness and bite. The pecan deep dish apple pie was superb too. Overall 3 of us are with drinks for $ 135 including tip. Very reasonable and a great find!

I went to Mike’s American Grill on Sunday, 19 June 2016(Father’s Day). We had a party of four and figured that it would be super crowded with it being Father’s Day. Fortunately, Mike’s Restaurant has call ahead seating. I called Mike’s from Manassas to ask about the seating wait time. They said around 45 – 50 minutes for a party of four. I told them to put us on the list because it takes about that same amount of time to drive their from my house. We arrived to a completely filled parking lot. We had no problem parking in the lot across the street. We were issued a buzzer for the remaining of our wait time to be seated. It went off about a minute after I received it from the hostess. We were seated upstairs in a booth. The wait staff were great! They were very friendly and were able to answer all our questions. The appetizers came out really quickly and other staff helped out clearing off the table of empty dishes and glasses. We ordered the spinach dip and tex mex eggrolls. Both were great! I ordered the crab cake and 5oz filet mignon. My husband ordered the Prime Rib(20oz). Everything was really good. I ate so much that I did not eat dinner. The only things that I can think of that I do not like about the restaurant is the bathroom being in the basement type area and how loud it is in the restaurant. Those are not deal breakers for me and I love the food, the call ahead feature, and the service.

Food is good, servers were good. Somewhat of a weird setup — multiple floors with the bathroom all the way downstairs. Seems to be a local watering hole for the government employees who work nearby.

Had heard great things about MAG and since my husband and I love Carlyle I figured we could try it out. Called ahead and got on the waiting list(wait was 40−50mins) and was seated within 10mins of arriving. Ordered the crispy calamari to start, calamari was a little on the chewy side and I didn’t care for the sauce but it wasn’t awful. Ozzie rolls were decent and the butter was a perfect addition. I ordered the roast chicken with butter sauce, mashed potatoes and a corn salsa. My husband ordered the bacon cheese burger. Unfortunately one of the runners gave another table our food so we had to wait another 10−15min before we got our food. By that time we were full on rolls and calamari so we just got boxes to go. I did take a bite or two or three of the roast chicken and it was DELICIOUS! The butter sauce puts it over the top, the chicken is ridiculously most and the crisp on the skin was just right. We would definitely come back!

Had the BBQ Beef Back Ribs(Tuesday’s only), Mac n’ Cheese, and steamed Brocollini during my first visit per friend’s recommendation. Half way through I was already full but I could not stop eating! Tender meat was falling off the bone and the side BBQ sauce had this explosive taste. It had a perfect blend of tanginess and sweetness – nothing was left in the sauce bowl after I was done. Ha! I was so stuffed that I didn’t have space for dessert and I wanted so much to try their bread pudding a la mode :(. BONUSPOINTS: outstanding service and bread(reminds me of donut holes) were warm and soft that I asked for another round. Don’t think twice, just go eat there at least once. Order the same dish or get the Drunken Ribeye(recommended by my awesome waitress).

I think Mikes is the greatest, when it comes to service and food. It’s nice that you can call ahead and be put on a list. I had the salmon taste so good. I also had a bread pudding my. My son had just completed a course at UDC, so when his bread pudding came out the server had the kitchen staff wright congradulations on the plate, now that is going above and beyound. I also appriciate the fact that they serve you as a team. So someone may take your order, another person brings your drink and another check on you. This place is perfect for celebrations and family gatherings.

Every time I go to this restaurant the food and service is phenomenal. I tend to get the same dish when I go because it’s always so good. The roasted chicken with mashed potatoes. That brown butter sauce that is poured over is so delicious. I always ask for extra. I will always recommend this restaurant! Spinach dip is pretty good and so are the tex-mex egg rolls. GOod family spot or with friends.

Get the drunken ribeye medium rare! Love this place. Food is always top notch when I’m there. Service is great and friendly but parking can be a bummer. Keep in mind to not park around McDonald’s or you can be towed and to park across the street at the shopping center! Also try the flourless chocolate waffle for dessert, you won’t regret it

Superb! …and I think I am a pretty tough critic. I have been coming here for years when I am in the area and have yet to be dissapointed. The most important thing — the food is always tasteful and prepared properly. You can definitely tell they have some high quality chefs in the kitchen. The servers are extremely professional and responsive as well! I recommend the drunken ribeye, I am pretty commited to it! today there was a special appetizer — crab imperial and it was AMAZING. hopefully you will be lucky enough to taste it before it is no longer offered. i am from southern md and we rarely get crab dip this far up the rd but Mikes did it perfect… full of lump crab, toasted cheese on top and full of flavor!

Mike’s never disappoints, man. Whether it’s date night, dinner with the family, or a get together with friends, it’s a great place where people can just gather and have a good time. I’ve been frequenting Mike’s since I was probably 5 or 6 years old. Fond memories of chowing down on some fajitas with my aunt. I had dinner here with Will C. last night and we were craving, strangely enough, A SALAD. There are few times I willingly dish out $ for salads. I just feel like it’s such a waste of a food opportunity, especially at a restaurant like Mike’s where you can get everything from jambalaya pasta to baby back ribs. However, last night I decided to have their Hanger Steak Salad as my entrée and the Corn and Crab Chowder for my appetizer. I really enjoyed my salad, which was full of pine nuts, cranberries, new potatoes, and some blue cheese. A perfectly cooked 4 oz. steak topped the salad. I found the portions to be generous(as always), and I was really content with my Sunday night dinner. As almost everyone has said, eat as many Ozzie rolls as possible. Deep fried dough isn’t good for you, but it’s so hard to resist. :(:(:(I also recommend trying some of their desserts. My faves are the bread pudding or the flourless chocolate waffle. *heaven* You really can’t go wrong with Mike’s. The fact that it’s been around for 20+ years and is poppin’ almost every night really says something. Parking at Mike’s can be somewhat of a nightmare. DONOT park at the McDonald’s across the street because your car will get towed!

A social media buddy told me to check this place out and the reviews were good, so what the heck? It was my dad’s bday and he’s not picky. Definitely overrated. I could have stayed in D.C. I seriously drove to Springfield for mediocre American food. Cons: — Don’t order their cocktails. If you need a buzz, get something on the rocks. — This place is not kid friendly, this is a place suburb people bring their kids to because they don’t have a baby sitter. They didn’t have any kids cups, so my 2 y/o was drinking out of a glass with a plastic top.(He also dropped and broke the glass :-/) No crayons.(NOTSORRY, ‘GOODFORKIDS’ MEANSCRAYONSANDCONNECTTHEDOTS) Also, there was no baby changing table in the men’s bathroom. So after going all the way to the basement to change our son, my husband comes back up stairs with a smelly child. What if I was injured? What about single dads? What about male same-sex parents? Why in 2016 are men’s bathroom like this?(sorry that really bothered me) — The food was OK. Not worth the drive. –Parking sucks. Pros: –Great customer service. You can call 45 min in advance to hold a spot.(They don’t take a res) — The kids chicken tenders are good. — The rolls are good

You really can’t go wrong with any of the Great American restaurants. The food is always delicious and the service is impeccable. The chicken tenders here are really worlds above anyone else. They are lightly battered, not breaded. The result is amazing. My ONLY complaints are the parking issues here(the lot across a somewhat busy street is open, but can be a challenge/opportunity to play chicken with oncoming traffic) and that they do not offer takeout(other Great Americans do). You can, however, slide up to the bar and place an order and ask for it to-go. Makes no sense to me!

(Singing) Ozzie Rolls, Ozzie Rolls, Ozzie Rolls… Whew, now that is out of my system yes I love those rolls and the butter stuff they come with. So this review is 6 visits late, but still a good one. I would give it 5 stars but I can’t ignore the parking situation. I would love if they would move to a location with ample parking or work something out with the shopping strip across the street. You’ve been warned, if you parking over there(mall strip) you may get ticketed if they catch you. Minimize the wait time by calling in about an hour arriving. I only visit during the day around 11−1pm or right before happy hour. Everything I’ve had thus far has been enjoyable. The service isn’t always the best, especially when it gets super busy. Something that bums me out… I never can come on the one day a week they serve beef ribs I don’t eat pork. My go to menu, literally in this order, when I don’t want to try something new… Ozzie rolls with a side or Ozzie rolls Lobster bisque(if I arrive on that day) Southwestern rolls Chicken tenders and fries(early day) Salmon, grilled crispy(HH/dinner) Key lime pie(early day) White chocolate bread pudding(HH/dinner) Yes, what is a meal without dessert… Don’t cheat yourself by skipping it, unless your budget doesn’t allow it.

Even with the Mother’s Day Madness, Mike’s American did not disappointment. I made the good decision to call right after lunch, and good thing. I got on the list for the 4 hour wait. Everything we ordered was delicious! I had crab cakes(more crab than cake), my husband had grilled pork chops(very tasty, and not dry or tough), my son had Jambalaya Pasta(very well seasoned), my other son had ribs(very tender). Even my little guys demolished their burgers and fries. Highly recommend this place!

What can I say about my favorite restaurant in the area? Great, fantastic, amazing! I have never had anything that I didn’t like at Mike’s, and the service is usually pretty good. And the bread? Luscious. I went twice this week that I was in town, the first time I got the salmon(which is absolutely amazing), and the second time I got the Drunken Ribeye. The first time I started with the calamari app, which has onion straws in it and is served in a lobster cream sauce. It is a HUGE portion for the cost. It needed a splash of lemon, so I asked for some and they were delivered pretty quickly, although my server seemed a little scattered. That’s ok, they were busy and at Mike’s it’s kind of a team sport, with different servers bringing you food, drinks, etc. The short-smoked salmon was prepared medium-rare, just as I asked, and was delicious. It’s so rare to even be asked how you want salmon prepared, and even less likely that you will get it done that way. Not at Mike’s — it’s exactly how you want it. The garlic mashed potatoes are always good. I kept thinking that I’d try some other places, but at the end of the day I couldn’t do it – it’s been a while since I’ve been to the area and so I had to go back two days later for another dinner! The second time I started with the lobster bisque and the same server(who was a little less scattered), as a sub for the salad. It was a nice big portion and also delicious. The steak was enormous, 14 oz. The flavor and doneness were perfect, my only quibble was that there was a lot of fat. I get that ribeyes have some fat, but in my opinion it could have been trimmed a bit better on the outside to get rid of some of the gristle. But it was more than enough meat and I was almost in a coma by the time I left. Alas, I did not have room for some sweets after I was done. Mike’s — there’s a reason for the wait, and yes, it’s more than worth it! Oh, yeah — just park across the street at the shopping center after you go through the parking lot once. You’re going to be lucky to find a spot, and it’s a short walk across a not-too-busy street.

Mike’s American grill has been in my neighborhood for as long as I can remember. I’ve had good experiences and bad experiences over the years, but I’d say they are more consistently good than bad. Of course I’d have to edge my rating a bit higher, solely because I love their Firecracker shrimp. The spicy pepper jelly seasoning of the shrimp, along with the crumb fried taste is just too addicting! I always have to order this when I come here. Some solid entrees would be the pasta, ribs, and steak. They’re not always perfect, but good 4⁄5 times. The service is usually decent here as well. Oh, and who doesn’t love all the free Ozzie rolls! :) It’s really hard not to love one of the«Great American Restaurants» and Mike’s is definitely loved by many.

This place seems to run like a well oiled machine. I would recommend setting up a reservation because even though they have a ton of seating they are pretty swamped. Best part was the dessert very tasty key lime pie and chocolate waffle with ice cream. I will be back.

I have been a fan of Mike’s for over 10 years and this review is long over due. I also don’t award 5* stars too often but Mike’s is definitely deserving of such acclaim. So where do I begin?!! Mike’s American Grill in one word… Awesome! Think of all your favorite American inspired dishes prepared to perfection every single time. Mike’s ability to deliver such a high level of consistency with each dish is one of the reasons I continue to return to this restaurant again and again. Literally everything on the menu is delicious. Here are few of my favorite items: Drinks & Appetizers: Bread… Bread… Bread…First off the fresh baked Aussie Rolls will make you smile. When you are seated, a bread basket is sent over with a variety of different breads and rolls. I’m a huge fan of the Aussie Rolls so I normally just request those. Frozen Margarita —(I know) How can someone be excited about a frozen margarita? aka a Slurpee w/Tequila! :-) I’m normally an «On the Rocks» type of girl but the frozen margarita is the smoothest Margarita in town! Its literally a «Liquid Vacation» in a glass. The first sip will definitely transport you to the beaches of Mexico! So Sip & Enjoy! Raspberry Lemon Drop Martini — Yummy with the right balance of Tart and Sweetness! Firecracker Shrimp — Great appetizer to start! Freshly fried shrimp on-top of a crunchy Asian flavored slaw. If you’re allergic to shrimp or just not a fan then a good substitute are the Tex Mex Egg Rolls. Entrees : Drunken Ribeye Steak– If you are a Meat Lover just order it and thank me later. :-) This marinated steak is just too good to pass up. Baby Back Ribs– Full rack of Delicious ribs served with a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce. The dish comes with French Fries & Slaw but I normally substitute the sides for a Loaded Baked Potato and a Veggie. They also offer Beef Ribs as well served on Tuesday Only. Jambalaya Pasta — Chicken, Shrimp and spicy sausage tossed with Penne Pasta and creamy creole sauce! Grilled Portobellos &(fried) Warm Goat Cheese Over Angel Hair Pasta — If you are not a meat fan or just want to try some lighter fare on the menu then this pasta dish is for you. The veggies are grilled perfectly for a very healthy and filling dish! Grilled Pork Chops — I normally don’t order pork chops but if you are a Pork Chop lover these are delish! Roasted half Chicken — this is not your basic roasted chicken. This dish packs a lot of flavor! Seafood — grilled Salmon or Trout are both great choices. Dessert — If you have room left for dessert… You can’t go wrong with the KEYLIME pie! They use a Cookie Crust versus the traditional Graham Cracker crust which is such a great twist on an classic dessert. Mike’s will always be on the top of my list and a go-to place for a great meal or group celebration! I hope Mike’s continues their tradition of serving up classic American dishes with consistency and great service.

Coming from Japan, I was looking for a juicy steak or prime rib… basically an American beef feast I usually can’t find in Tokyo without paying an arm and a leg for. Mike’s is one of my usual options because it’s always fulfilled expectations. During my last trip, I decided to try the prime rib. Although it may have been slightly drier than I had hoped the seasoning, sauce and overall taste did not disappoint. The guests I had been entertaining that evening especially love the Drunken Prime Rib — perhaps my favorite dish as well. I called ahead and when we arrived, we had zero wait time. The booth was spacious and accommodating while the service was outstanding in spite of the extremely crowded dining room.

This review was mostly on steak. Eh. I’ll get to that. But real quick… Service was awesome. Staff was young, attractive, attentive, and squeaky clean looking. Our table was upstairs and awkward. We were in a booth so what made it so awkward? Well, there were tables directly above us… right next to us… looking down on us… judging us… watching us chew. I looked up twice and kid you not, made instant eye contact with the judgers above me. Maybe it was just me… but it was weird. Any well respected laugh or sneeze could send drops of saliva right to our table. The Caesar Salad should have been called Bowl of Garlic with a Leaf. Look at my photo. I tried to capture the amount of garlic you get per bite. We ordered 20 oz Prime Rib and the 10 oz Filet Mignon. We were told to get it blackened rather than traditional which was a mistake. I like my steak grilled WITH side dishes. The steaks we received were ONTOP of side dishes surrounded by some really sweet sauce. Reminded me of Sheppard’s Pie. I hate Sheppard’s Pie. It was all put together and mushy. The blackened ingredients made the top of the steak so damn salty which didn’t really compliment the sweet sauce on the bottom. I was so confused. Thank God our steaks came with 2 different types of horseradish. I just scraped off the blackness, added the horseradish to my meat, and pretended I was at Arby’s. Oh and ¼ to 2⁄3 of my meat was fat. Look at my pictures. ATLEAST ¼! Maybe this type of steak just wasn’t for me. I don’t know. Call me savage but I like when a giant hunk of cow is simply thrown on a grill and kept separate from sides. I realize this is blasphemy but I prefer the steaks at Outback. Read my Valentine’s Day review at the Woodbridge location. The Outback’s under $ 30 Porterhouse Behemoth kills Mike’s overdressed $ 36 salty sweet meatFAT any damn day.
