I always shop here for my sportswear. Plenty of fitness brands with cheaper prices: Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, you name it. You’d find everything you need for action sports, team sports, trampolines, Foosball tables, billiards, lawn games, fitness trackers and many, many more. Make sure you sign up for their club card and they’ll send you some great coupons in your mailbox every now and then. Great customer service, you can return items if they don’t work well for you or if you later find out that it’s the wrong size.

The customer service is terrible. No one to greet you nor help you with anything. The place is like a ghost town til you get to the cashier. I would give zero stars, but it’s not an option. Good luck for help.

Modell’s has a wide assortment of sporting goods, but this positive review is mainly for having in stock those Washington Capitals knit caps, when the real team did not have any in stock at their team store nor assisted me in trying to obtain them. I called Modell’s earlier in the day because those hats were selling like hot cakes across the DMV. A nice lady told me that she would hold me one, but that wasn’t necessary because they had them joints everywhere. But I absolutely did appreciate the effort. Getting back to the NHL’s Capitals, how are you not gonna try and help me obtain a winter hat that profits your team… that was a real shaking my head moment for the new year. Anyway I got it and I’m stunting like a mofo in it too.

If I can’t make it to Dick’s Sporting Goods, I always go to Modell’s to pick up few UA, Nike tops, workout pants/shorts. I have a membership with them so after spending so much, I can receive up to $ 20 in gift certificate to on my next visit. Just to say, that $ 20 gift cert. came in handy when I was there purchasing birthday presents for my nephew. I will soon have to make my trip to Modell’s!

Modell’s Sporting Goods is a solid store in a solid chain of stores. I can usually find items for our family in the sizes we need and the colors we want – that’s saying a lot. It sometimes takes a minute to find a staff member, but the folks who work here are knowledgeable and helpful. Several times I have called this store to ask for out-of-season sports gear in specific sizes. Usually they have the item I’m seeking. When I get to the store, the item is always there, as described. Hooray! Modell’s is cheerful about returns and exchanges. It’s best to bring your receipt and the credit card you used to make the purchase. Modell’s supports a lot of youth sports teams through discount programs. The store works to be a good corporate citizen. If you join their MVP program, keep good track of the coupons that your purchases will sometimes generate. The coupons are great, but they have expiration dates. I have some general gripes about sporting goods stores – not just Modell’s, but also Dick’s and Sports Authority: 1) The shoe departments are always under staffed and therefore slow. If you need high-quality cleats to protect feet from a season’s worth of pounding in practices and games, you will need to track down help and share the staffer with other, equally desperate, customers. Shop on a weekday, before pre-season. Eat before you go to the store. Pretend this is your spa day. 2) What is it with the high-security dressing rooms in sporting goods stores? First you have to find a staffer, then that staffer has to find the staffer with the key. Then you get to stand there while the staffer pounds on the door to make sure nobody is already in there.(Hint: young boys trying on football girdles often say nothing, in hopes that the problem will go away.) Having finally been admitted to the Magic Kingdom, you will TOTALLYENJOY trying on bathing suits while some other staffer pounds on the door.(Hint: As you emerge, stare at the ceiling.) 3) Related to 2). Do you really want me to buy all six of your black size medium compression garments, try them on at home, and return five of them the following month? 4) Related to 2) and 3). Note to sporting goods stores: Most of us go to your stores to buy things, not to do whatever you think we are doing in the dressing room. Trying on clothes is not a crime. 5) Harrumph.
