Went during happy hour — 2 beers, a cocktail and a Bloody Mary for $ 22. The atmosphere is very laid back. Lots of plush couches and chairs but also very nice pub tables and bar seating. My Bloody Mary was very spicy but I wish the rim would have been salted, the blue lagoon cocktail was very strong and tasted like fruit punch. My boyfriend got 2 different beers that we had never heard of, they do have a large beer selection. There is a good mix of people — hipsters, older crowd, suits and just average laid back people. Will be back.

This is one of the most unique and eclectic bars in Springfield. Forego the high bar stool or booth table in favor of plush weather-worn furniture, soft lighting against crumbling bricks, each with their stories to tell. The music is of the folk, bluegrass variety, and their drink menu is unsurpassed. Their beer selection rivals those of the most eclectic London varieties. Of course, their fondue cannot be passed over. Come with an appetite.

This place is so awesome, I was tempted to leave a bad review just so I could keep it a secret, but that would be selfish and unfair — not to mention pointless considering how ridiculously popular it seems to be already. And for good reason: the food is phenomenal, the assorted«adult» coffees are inventively delicious and the environment is second to none. Go here any chance you get.

I’m in love with the cheese plate — it’s so good! Great deals during happy hour and a great selection of beer. A good place to sample a new drink. Probably go here a couple nights a week!

The best place to go in Springfield. Coffee, tea, or booze. New years, Christmas, or a random day.

It has been so long since I had their fondue; seriously the best in town! Chocolate, or cheese there is no wrong selection. And during happy hour drinks, and food are between $ 1 – 3 off! My only real complaint is there is a «sour beer» craze going on, so that means taps were littered with them. This place seems to keep up with trends, which isn’t always a good thing if you’re not really into that sort of thing. I wish sometimes that they would keep just one popular cheaper beer on tap. Not always in the mood for a high end beer that’s hoppy, sour, or stout. Sometimes a lighter beer with a snack is nice and tap is always better than a bottle. But other than that; great atmosphere for a small gathering to chat. The fondue for two will feed 3, and the staff is informative, and friendly. For sure a great stop before a night on the town, or while you’re waiting for more friends to meet up with.

Given the very subjective tastes of coffee lovers, I don’t go into the quality of the joe in my reviews unless it’s in the form of a warning. This is not the case for the Mud House; if you like coffee, you’ll probably find something on their menu you like(it’s the same people as the nearby Mud House), including options with various liqueurs. Instead, I will focus on other aspects of the business. First, know up front that though they serve coffee, this is a bar/lounge at heart, so past a certain point in the evening, you must be over 21 to get in. Not a great thing for the younger set, but it can be a blessed oasis for us old curmudgeons who value a coffee house devoid of high schoolers. There are different types of seating, including tall chairs at the bar, standard restaurant two– and four-tops, a pair of long tables, and couches/lounge chairs with coffee tables where you can share a cheese platter or fondue. There is also outdoor seating in the back. Depending on the size of your party and whether there is an event going on downtown, you might want to show up early since it can be interesting finding seating late in the evening. I mostly get coffee, but friends have ordered many a beer and cocktail, and I’ve yet to hear a complaint about the selection(beer) or quality(cocktails). Both are a shade on the expensive side, but no more than pretty much anywhere else downtown. Unless you plan on walking up to the bar, I would not recommend going to this place for a quick drink if you have a deadline. After all, it is a lounge, and depending on how many people are there, it might take several minutes for someone to take your order. That said, I’ve never experienced what I consider bad service, and the waiters/bartenders/baristas/whatever they are have almost always been notably pleasant and friendly. The atmosphere depends on the crowd, but tends to stay on the relaxed side. Lighting is kept low, and the walls are all exposed brick with subdued and modern-ish decoration. Background music is kept low enough to stay in the background, and while the place can get a bit loud when it’s standing room only, it doesn’t morph into a stereotypical college town bar. There have been times the ambient noise made conversation more difficult, but those occurrences have been rare. Overall, it is one of my favorite Springfield places to get drinks and hang out with a few friends or simply read while enjoying a good coffee.

Stopped by for a quick beer. Good selection. Diversity across style and geo. Had the Timber Beast from Lazy Magnolia Brewing in Mississippi. A very tasty brew.

The service is always consistently good. I love that they’re expanding the on-tap selection. It’s a great place to go for a couple hours out of the house and good company to hang with. Cool, chill atmosphere; a lot like Seattle.

When I think of going out for a drink, I always think of the Mud Lounge first. While it may not have the widest beer selection and the cocktail prices can be a little steep, the Lounge absolutely has the best patio in downtown Springfield. If you find yourself wanting a nice cocktail on a fine evening, this is the place to go. Their happy hour deals make their drinks both delightful and affordable, and their selection of appetizers and sandwiches are fresh and delicious. They have awesome martinis and really enjoyable paninis. The servers are extremely friendly and generally very quick. The Mud Lounge has obviously worked hard to create a vibe that feels comfortable and cosmopolitan, making it the perfect spot for an evening out.

From the outside it’s a warm and funky coffee house, but what makes Mudhouse Coffee great is the way they have combined their delicious coffee into faboulus mixed drinks. The Mudlounge’s menu includes a great mix of hot and spicy coffee drinks, tasty martinis and a selection of great local brews. Much like this great coffee shop, Downtown Springfield ‘s downtown scene is a great mix of retro fun and funk. The shops, bars and restaurants have all given a new life to the city’s beautiful historic buildings. It’s well worth a trip for any of their great street festival or just to explore and take in the city’s unique culture and history.

An excellent atmosphere for an evening when you want to casually chill with friends, have edgy drinks, listen to good music but still hear yourselves talk. A somewhat hipster setting with great, friendly, attentive service and a great alternative to a loud, overcrowded club or bar. Also a great place to take a date after dinner to talk,

Expect the service at the table to be a bit slow. Kitchen gets the food out quickly. We order one cheese plate for two, and one cheese fondue for two. It was a lot of food to eat. We like the place an will definitely be back. Stopping in at happy hour will save you a lot of coins. Noise level makes it easy to carry on conversations at the tables. Coffee shop style lounge.

The Mud Lounge is a Springfield downtown institution. It’s been around for a decade and has consistently provided quality drinks and food. I love their huge selection of premium and hard to find beer, along with an extensive martini menu. And if you’re feeling frisky(and looking somewhat hipster-ish), the bartender just might make a special concoction just for you.(It happened to me during my college years, it was amazing, and I still relive that memory). Their appetizer/food selection is great and comes in generous portions. I love their crab dip in a bread bowl with lots of vegetables and crackers. Just make sure you get there early in the night since this place fills up very quickly — by hipsters and young local professionals alike. Also, beware of the owner’s pugs.(I think there are 9 of them). They will slobber and poop on your shoes. Other than than, this place is stellar.

So my bf and I came to Springfield to hang out with some of his friends about a month ago. Mud Lounge is a very laid back place with lots of couches and it’s just great to lounge around in here! They have happy hour Monday-Saturday from 4−7pm and hey also have specials on each day as well. Since we were here for happy hour, I decided to make use of the $ 2 off Martinis! Normally, the fruity martinis are $ 8 each! I decided to try the Bubble Fight Martini… yes I giggled when I saw this on the menu, but it was so delicious! And it was blue! It consisted of Parrot Bay Passion Fruit rum, Hynotiq, pineapple juice, and it was then topped off champagne. I loved it! Wish I could get it again because it had just enough alcohol for me where it was the perfect balance between where I could taste every different ingredient and the right amount of alcohol. I definitely want to come back and try another drink here! Pros: — service was great! The waitress always came by to check on us — drinks were delish and well priced Cons: — at one point, I felt like the waitresses were trying to get us to leave since we weren’t ordering anymore drinks… or maybe it was because of the people waiting by the door that would just keep staring at us the whole time Why I gave it a 4… I really liked the laid-back atmosphere and how there are couches everywhere to lounge around in. Bubble fight was delicious and it was great that it was in my favorite color, blue! I will definitely have to come back here again! Yummy!

I don’t know why I love it her so much. I just do. It reminds me of some really awesome times in my life. Every time i come back to Springfield, i have to stop in. They have a great beer and cocktail selection and a surprisingly good happy hour. Order the Irish Cognitive. It is the perfect drink for a late night hangout session that you don’t want to end.

A traditional coffee house by day and bar by night. Athens GA is the only place I’ve been that does this better. I suggest the cappuccino & brownie, perfect combo!
