Not a fan. Love mexican food and this place doesn’t compare to others for the price range.

My only complaint was the owner refused to provide the password for their WiFi. In this day and age that is a service provided by most restaurants. The food is great and reasonably priced. It is a family run business. Not fancy, but it is clean. We come to the restaurant often. BYOB I would have rated it 5 stars if not for the WiFi issue…

Love this place. BYOB. Really good Mexican food. Not fancy but if that’s what you want with bland American style Mexican food go to red Cadillac for that. It’s been around for a few years now and it’s the same family owner. They are always there so you know it runs well. Also liquor store across the street

The nachos were delicious; definitely something to get when there. Even proportions of cheese, meat and veggies piled high and served with salsa and guac.

Disappointing. We ordered the«fresh guacamole» for($ 9) and were not happy when some tasteless green goop was plopped down. Mostly, it tasted like refrigerator. The fish tacos were so-so, as was the burrito. The serving sizes were generous, and the service was attentive(though there was only us and one other couple, so the place wasn’t exactly buzzing).

My girlfriend and I both ordered enchiladas in picante sauce. I thought it was just named after the restaurant or something, but it turns out picante means«hot,» and it felt like all the fires of hell were burning inside of my mouth. Other than that, the food was pretty good and the portions were large.

Had a craving and came to this place for a steak burrito to-go. $ 11.23 for the burrito + guacamole. Wouldn’t be my go to place for Mexican but good for that once in a blue moon craving. When I got home, I wondered why they put my burrito in a take out box… The sour cream, pico de gallo, and guac were in separate compartments and not in my burrito. I expected all those things to be inside my burrito so I wouldn’t have to keep putting each condiment on top of the burrito every time I take a bite. They also cut my burrito in half… it’s so much easier to eat a full burrito wrapped in foil. Not sure if they were going for presentation there… Also, not a fan of their rice, will probably get it without rice next time. I’d prefer Chipotle’s rice over this one.

Excellent food for a good price. Try the carne Asada tacos. They are very friendly here too and I have never have had a problem when ordering takeout.

Not bad but expected more from this hole in the wall joint. It looks like a small family owned place, which it probably is but didn’t have that home style taste. Overall, it wasn’t bad and would probably go back. Hated being nickeled and dimed for sides like rice and beans, guac. Have to ask for the spiciest hot sauce, a bit bland without it.

I liked this place. My burrito was fresh and tasty. My only complaint would be it’s a little pricey and they could use a better atmosphere. Service was good. The hot sauces were hot.(And the waitress was nice enough to warn me about that!)

Got the nachos with ground beef, they were ok and they give you more than enough to share. Also had the Steak Fajitas. They were pretty good but I would’ve liked a little more steak. I’d go back.

Two stars cause the food was good but service not so much. Everyone else got their menus before us and got noticed before us. I was ready to walk out when the waiter finally decided to take our order. I hate saying this but really all the Americans were getting all the good service while me and Latin husband were not. I do not plan on going back because of the service alone and its a shame because the food tastes pretty good.

Fresh, delicious, amazing … Nice little in the wall. Had skirt steak quesadillas … And the nachos were spectacular.

Hit or miss. I first came here when the place just opened and the owners were always there to run the place with their family. The man of the family takes pride in the product, but when he’s not there the food is very salty and just not that good. They have a legit selection of food on the menu like chicken mole, chiles rellenos, burritos, tacos, nachos etc. The portions are not huge, but good enough. The service is good and the staff as a whole is very nice. I’ve tried their tres leches cake here every time in hope that the milk that they pour on the sponge cake will be fresh and not taste like refrigerator, but it always does. I love tree leches cake a lot and theirs may have a fighting chance if it was truly fresh. I heard they have a new restaurant that opened and I have not tried it yet. Truly hope the owner gets the message and tightens up this place a bit cause it really was a pleasure to eat here when they first opened.

We stumbled across this place while driving to the Chinese restaurant across the street. We were pleasantly surprised. The décor is a little sparse and there’s certainly something to be desired in the cleanliness(or at least the appearance of cleanliness) but the food was delicious and the service was pretty decent. I had a combo fajita, my wife the shrimp fajita and the other member of my party had a burrito that was a special. We all left with full bellies and will definitely be back the next time we’re craving Mexican! Give this place a shot, you won’t be disappointed.

My actual rating would 3.5 if I could. The food was excellent, the portions were perfect, and the atmosphere was friendly. My biggest complaint was that I could hear them tenderizing the meat from the kitchen in a very loud fashion. It made conversation difficult, but this only happened once and only for a few min.

We are new to the area and were pleasantly surprised to find a local spot with pollo milanesa! We came for lunch on a Thursday and there were already a few other groups there. It is true that they will charge you for everything other than the tap water, salt, and pepper. BUT after tasting the food, I really don’t mind as it is way better than Taco Bell, Chipotle, or Qdoba. Is it as good as any spot in Jackson Heights, Queens or another large Mexican enclave? Well that is why it gets 4 stars not 5. Picante is great for a mom and pop shop in the burbs. It would have to be outstanding and somewhat more generous with sauces and such for it to be 5 stars. We started with the guac which was cutely presented in a plastic bowl in a real mortar. Taste was good but not great. It was a filling appetizer for 2 people but would be a stretch for 3 or more people. I had the quesadillas mexicanas which turned out to be really fried corn tortillas aka hardshell tacos. It was yummy and the ingredients were fresh. The rice on the side did not try to take the spotlight, so I enhanced it with some of the deliciously spicy salsa verde(yes there is extra charge for the condiment cup size). My husband ordered the pollo milanesa with fried egg on top and was quite happy to hear the literal pounding of the chicken breast while our order was being made. I was cautious about the tres leches cake after reading another review but was curious enough to try it. Yeah, the other guy was right, it was basically yellow cake drenched with tres leches(condensed, evaporated, whole). In consideration that I was not going to bake myself a cake or drive somewhere else to find it, the cake was acceptable. The mister and I agreed that we are glad to have tried out this place and will be returning again. It is definitely better than many bland hole in the wall Tex-Mex places that rely on college kids and better than the McBurrito.

Terrible service made this a huge disappointment! Walked in and there was nobody there except for 3 employees, seemed like mother and 2 daughters. They continued their conversation and were laughing and we were not greeted. Then one of them finally acknowledged we were there and put menus on the table and sort of pointed us to it. Then she went back to her conversation. It was about 5 mins and they still didn’t ask us if we wanted something to drink. We were seconds from walking out. The daughters left and the mother spent the entire time we were there texting and never asked us if we needed anything or how everything was. It was bad. Food — guacamole was actually very good and seasoned perfectly. I had to yell across the restaurant and said can we have some salsa with the guacamole. Her response was«do you mean tomatoes onions and cilantro?» what the heck? It’s a Mexican restaurant and I ordered guacamole, what do you think I mean? I want salsa,!! I had tinga tostadas, they were just OK. Meat was dry and flavorless. Girlfriend had Mexican quesadilla, it was dry and awful and was a taco. They said it would be fried crispy which was fine but just call it a taco. When the check came I noticed they charged me 2.50 for the«salsa» which was really Pico. When I’m spending 8 or 9 dollars on guacamole you should give me some salsa. Based on the food alone I may have given it another shot and tried something different, but due to that service I will never go back.

Food here is decent, and presentation is nice too, but their portion sizes(when compared to lunch menu prices they charge) are too small. I would give them a four star just on food taste Service is 3.5 Décor(or lack thereof) is 2.5 Food taste and quality is 4 Prices is 2 Still I’d go there again for decent Mexican food(but only on days when I am not too hungry).
