This is a great spot to pick up a to go order late at night(well, 10 pm). I really appreciate that I can get fresh food at 9:45 after a full day of working and studying on campus. It’s a great stop on the way home. The food isn’t crazy outstanding(they do have a Cashew Craze claim to best Cashew Chicken, though), but it’s always fresh, tasty, and affordable. And it keeps me from having to cook, which that late at night is always a win.

Well I loved this place until I called and they didn’t even know if they had an online menu. She sounded so doped up on the phone. They do work right next to gold mountain«and we’re on drugs» meth dope telemarketing place

Yuck! I ordered black pepper chicken, all white meat. Just a shade under $ 7 and it didn’t come close to filling me up. It was essentially sautéed chicken(I ordered it not breaded) with cashew sauce and a boatload of black pepper. I could have made far better at home. The«fried rice» was soggy and flavorless. I won’t be back.

Used to love the food but when they didn’t put all our food in the bag and wanted us to drive 15 minutes back to them that was a problem bc my kids already started eating theirs and they wanted us to pack it all back up so that they could see that we didn’t get né of our egg rolls or crab rangoon. Even though we paid for them. That is literally stealing from people. The lady was such a b*!#$ I have sign on window is all she could say. Why should I have to re check their work when that is what I’m paying them for. These people need to realize that if ur wrong freggin say it and fix the problem instead of just steal from someone. We will never return to this place with their shit hole owners and employees!

Canton Inn used to be my favorite, for the past 25 years, but they’ve recently changed their chicken or something and I just haven’t been as happy with it. A couple months ago, a co-worker picked me up an order form Pine Garden and I now have a new favorite cashew chicken/general chicken restaurant! About once a month, our entire office orders lunch from there.

I love their Shrimp Fried Rice… my favorite in Springfield. Luckily they are close to work, so I can stop in for lunch from time to time.

I ordered a junior cashew chicken, all white meat with extra onions and a bottle of water. The food was sub-par considering there is a cashew chicken joint on every corner so the options are plenty. Portion size was in line with what I expected but as other reviews have mentioned, the rice was abnormally dark brown. After tasting it, I agree with the other reviewers that it likely was doused in soy sauce. Mixing the rice with the cashew sauce made the dish too salty for my taste. In regards to price, the initial price was in line with what I would expect, however the all white meat charge is .25 higher than competitors and they charge me .50 for a cup of water. Remember I ordered a bottle of water? I assume it’s all the same to them. Thanks but no thanks. Nothing amazing here, I’ll keep driving next time.

Pine Garden has become our go to cashew chicken place. I have had the cashew and general chicken. My wife and daughter have had the beef, chicken and shrimp lo mein. All have been fresh and hot. The servers kinda get in a hurry sometimes but we have always gotten home with everything we have ordered.

i am basing this review on my first and only visit to Pine Garden. I had the hot and sour soup which was neither spicy nor tangy. It lacked a meaty quality as well that is found in most versions. A small amount of carrot and sliced bamboo shoot was also about the only filler. The portion was a 16 oz container for around 2.60 which is the same price I get hot and sour soup at a dozen other locations for double the amount of soup. The lemon chicken I ordered was chicken and a decent portion but had no taste or even hint of lemon. The sauce was very brown, thick and sweet and if I had to guess in a blind taste test I would have guessed mystery sauce. The order taker and gal in the drive through were very nice but as far as these two dishes go, I wouldn’t try them again.

I had high expectations for the cashew chicken since it was voted the best in Springfield in 2013. The portion size was ridiculously small for $ 6. EVERY other Chinese place in town gives you twice as much food, some places even give twice as much food for less than $ 6! The sauce was okay… ish for someone that’s never had really good Springfield style cashew chicken. The rice was edible… and that’s being generous. The rice was ridiculously dark in color like they’d doused it all in soy sauce. It tasted as such too. The ONLY redeeming factor is that the white meat chicken was actually of good quality. It’s hard to find Chinese places around here that have really great quality white meat chicken. Don’t waste your money or time. It’s 2015… They really need to go back and vote again for best cashew chicken in Springfield. Because this CLEARLY is not it!

I was excited to try this place out. After reading some decent reviews and seeing the building itself, it was enticing. Entering the building was a different story. The restaurant appears to be a former Popeyes Chicken. The décor is plain and uninviting. There is quite a bit of visible wear on the walls with paint chipping and falling in various place. Nothing character about it, just unkempt. Approaching the counter helped me overlook this as I was greeted with enthusiasm! Absolutely great service. The lady made me feel very comfortable and even helped me understand the menu. Unfortunately, receiving my order set me up for a deflating experience. For $ 5.99 I received sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, an egg roll, and a crab rangoon. It also came with a drink. Considering the typical large portions received for Chinese takeout, I was rather surprised at how small this portion was, although that is subjective. The meal itself was horrendous. The chicken was very dry and greasy and covered in what seemed to come from a cheap can of sugared syrup with pineapples thrown in and topped with a couple of those ridged carrots you find in a bag of frozen California mix. Not good. Sadly, the rice was so very dry as well. Must I speak of the egg roll? I suppose I must. Not the typical fat roll full of cabbage you might receive elsewhere. This poor skinny thing was so greasy I could not finish it. It looked over cooked. The inside was incredibly mushy as well. I could not decipher what it contained. It looked brown with orange bits throughout. The one saving grace would be the rangoon. Nothing special about it other than it being edible. I am disappointed at this experience. The outside seems inviting and the service is great. Unfortunately, for me, that is not enough to redeem the poor meal experience. Try at your own risk.

I love Pine Garden. Their General Chicken is great(pretty spicy) and the Black Pepper Chicken is yummy too. The hubby and I sometimes order 1 of each and split them. Service is friendly and fast; food is fresh and seems cooked to order. It is not near our house, but worth the drive over.

I saw that this place had won the Sertoma Cashew Craze, so I gave it a whirl. It was really not good at all. Everything was greasy to the point of being soggy. The fried rice almost just tasted like oil. I got spicy eggplant tofu. I didn’t like the tofu too much, but that was because I like very firm tofu. That’s not their fault. The spicy sauce was tasty, but it was exactly like anything you can get anywhere. In a town with seemingly more Asian joints than churches, any and all comers need to be on point. I say skip this place. There are better places with better food and much better prices in Springfield. Pacific Kitchen is my favorite.

General Chicken is the best! It’s actually borderline HOT! I think they’re prices are pretty close to everyone else around. I’m a chubby dude and can’t finish all of my portions. So I have to disagree with the«small portion» complaints!

I got the cashew chicken, it was overly priced and wasn’t even good. I’m only giving it a 2 star because the container it came in was fancy. Really the amount of food I got was a snack. Fed 4 people and paid over 30 dollars. Not worth it!

If you’re looking for the best cashew chicken in springfield look no further! Pine garden gives you a perfect amount of food to fill you up but not make you explode. The service is good, store is clean and it’s in a great location. And it’s not to pricy.

Cashew chicken is probably the best I’ve had. It’s got to be the gravy lol. I LOVE their spring rolls — I could literally eat an entire meal of spring rolls… and they have those sugar covered fried doughnut things(they call them biscuits) that are amazing — and really cheap. Every time I’ve had it, it has been brought home to me(in the cold weather, across town), and it’s still been as hot and fresh as if I had eaten it in the restaurant. If you love cashew chicken, I’d definitely recommend trying this place at least once.

Great Generals Chicken. Everything was hot and fresh. Prices are good. They do charge an extra $ 0.75 for all white meat chicken. Seems about average for around Springfield. They advertise that they won first place for their Cashew Chicken for 2013. My daughters would agree.

Pine Garden has wonderful cashew chicken. For $ 5.99 you get a drink, a bunch of cashew chicken, rice, Crab Rangoon, and an egg roll. Or you can just get the chicken and rice for $ 3.99. It’s fresh and delicious and a good value. The staff is friendly as well. They also have a drive-thru. Check it out!
