Great store. Great staff. Come here at least one a week. Vince always wants what is best for the livestock/​costumers.

I can’t say enough about Quantum Reefs! They are the best. Went in here last Saturday looking for freshwater aquarium rocks (Seiryu Stone) and the customer service rep was so helpful! He led us to the back walked us through all the different kinds of rock and made space for us so that we could pick the best rock arrangements for our aquarium. As we were putting it together he also went out of his way to let us use two styrofoam lids so we could find the best placement. He never rushed us as we were there configuring rocks for a good hour and let us take our time. I would definitely come back here again when looking for specialty aquarium supplies.

Vince and Steve are very knowledgeable people who have never failed to lend a helping hand to a novice reefer. I routinely bring my lunch, sit on their couch, stare at the display aquarium for inspiration, and ask what I’m sure are a plethora of ill-​informed questions.
Whether you’re into salt or freshwater fish keeping, Quantum is the place to be and I’ll continue to do business with them. They have what seems to be a quarterly sale on Reef Crystals cheaper than Amazon can deliver it with Prime shipping.
Like any place that serves a community,
you’re getting much more than a fish, coral, or dry goods; it’s about the advice and support. They’ve taken care of a few dead fish at the expense of the shop as proof that they deserve repeat business. Keep up the good work, guys!

Customer service here is fantastic! I’m just starting out with a marine aquarium and Vince has helped me every step of the way. Everything I need for the tank can be purchased here including saltwater they make on site. They carry items I don’t find in most stores (Chaeto and mangroves) with great prices. They can also order items for you. They are currently expanding their freshwater selection and carry fish you won’t see in the big box stores. They also carry assassin snails.

Small shop packed full of various fish and equipment. Noone asked us if we needed help. We explained we were looking to start a freshwater aquarium… no help was offered. Very awkward. We probably won’t be returning due to the lack of customer service today.

The best part is to sit on the sofa and watch the fish tank.

It was a happy stumble into the shop after going to the hydroponics shop down the road for the first time to try and fix my Back to the Roots Aquafarm kit with something other than growstones for my amateur attempt to raise red cherry shrimp. The hydroponics store owner mentioned that an owner of an aquarium shop dropped by recently — and that’s when I realized that the closest fish shop was not in Centreville or Rockville (which the centreville aquarium was also very limited)! What a happy and lucky find!
While they are expanding, they offered to place a special order for the cherry shrimps, and gave tips on our tank failure. Once we fix up our substrate, we’ll be ordering from them soon!

Really great stuff. The owner is great, friendly, and super knowledgeable. He steered us in exactly the right direction in buying our new tank. The store is pretty small and, therefore, the stock is a little limited, but what he has is spectacular, including an amazing variety of corals. He also said he’d be happy to order anything for us and inspect it for health and whatnot, which is always great to hear. He has officially been dubbed our «tank guy» and we will, for sure, be back.

This is one of the best, high quality aquarium stores I have ever been to! The prices may be a little, pricey, but they have friendly staff, awesome fish, great tools for fish tanks, and I could go on, and on, and on! They have a HUGE variety of fish! Like I said before,“The prices may be a little, pricey.” I’m telling you, you probably think that you’re gonna spend a lot of money and it won’t be worth it. But trust me, it’ll be worth the money! So if you ever need a great aquarium store, then come on down to Quantam Reefs!

I went in search of Java Moss and a CO2 kit. First let me compliment. The guy there was doing water testing for a customer and seem liked he cared because they sat there talking for almost an hour before I could get him to pause his conversation so I could get help. Now their website says they do price matching. At the time, their website list their ISTA CO2 kits (45g, 88g, and 95g) for the same price of $ 59.99. O_​o
So when I pulled it up at home, prior to visiting the store, all the websites I looked at charged no more than $ 40 for the 45g. Well we spent about 30 minutes pulling up prices mind you the first website he pulled up was Amazon who had it listed for $ 20.99. Finally he claimed that when he puts in the sku it, Amazon has it for $ 45, but they don’t price match Amazon (then why did you pull it up three times in your search?)
Then he wanted my to wait an hour until his partner came back to explain there pricing because they only mark up 18%. Mind you, the first customer and him are continuing their story telling session over my head. Now, during the search for pricing, a third customer came in.
So to wrap this up, I spent over an hour in the store trying to overpay for a 45g CO2 kit (because they didn’t have any other size in stock) and buying dead Christmas and Java Moss because he couldn’t justify there pricing and didn’t want to price match any of the 10 websites searched that was cheaper.
I got home and both Mosses were nearly all brown. I know that it can take 2 weeks to get it’s color back and be healthy again. NOPE! Both mosses have stayed brown and broke up so badly that here I am a month later still trying to clean it out my tank.

Great service, the employees are great, not to pushy with sales like other stores would be. The freshwater selection is perfect for my small 5 gallon tank. The saltwater selection is great to.

Awesome store… kinda hard to see from the street but if you’re lucky enough to find it you’re in for a treat. Great coral selection and knowledgeable and courtesy workers there. I’ve been buying corals and livestock there for over a year now.

I travel almost an hour each way to see these guys at least once a month. They always have something new and exciting in stock. Definitely the #1 store you want to visit in the Northern Virginia/​DC area for salt and freshwater fish. Need advice? Ask Steve or Vince. They’ll be sure to steer you in the right direction.

Great store. They have everything you need for saltwater fish. Recently added freshwater section is great too as they carry many high end freshwater fish you can’t find in chain stores (Petco and petsmart).
