Excellent little sushi spot that is casual dining. It is not a fancy sit down sushi spot but has every bit of the quality. This is our new go to sushi restaurant. Highly recommend you try it.

Yes! RAWR serves Japanese rice bowls in the burbs. What else can you ask for? This is now the go-to sushi/cheap eat spot in downtown Springfield.

Kono basho wa saikōdesu!!! Means this place is the best. My girlfriend and me went here and it was our first time. They thought us how the menu works and they are helpful. It’s also cheap but the food taste great. I never liked a sushi before, but when I tried their sushi I started craving for it for more! The place is kinda small but its okay. If you are craving for a sushi and ramen and saving money. TRYTHISPLACE. Rawr!

This business is modeled after a fast food restaurant. I like the concept of serving on styrofoam plates and plastic utensils, no need to wash dishes and self serve in a way, a new gimmick. Personally, I don’t like eating from styrofoam plates, just my preference. I guess for me, eating out of plastic bowls are only appropriate at a cook out or food trucks. I had the Chicken Teriyaki bento box and my potato boyfriend got the Salmon bento box. I think the total came out to be $ 15? It was pretty cheap considering that most restaurants that serve bento boxes charge about $ 15 for each bento box. The taste was I guess… what I paid for. The chicken and the california roll both had a different taste from what I am familiar to. I didn’t enjoy it as much as the potato boyfriend did, I guess I’m just picky. The workers were very nice and attentive, so +15 points for good service. The restaurant is pretty tiny, about 5 – 6 tables. The tables were clean and the bathroom was clean!

I was with my lovely friend, Megan, and she was in the mood for some ramen and sushi, and after looking for a few minutes on Unilocal,we found this establishment. We ordered for pickup on the phone, with no hassle and about 15 – 20 mins for pickup. The food was well packed and warm when we got home, and the packaging was well done. The soup broth was even packed separate from the ramen noodles so you can pour it in yourself! Overall, the sushi was of good quality and the ramen was great for the price.

As most others have mentioned here, this is not really a dine-in restaurant. Takeout and delivery are more appropriate. They have 3 – 4 small tables, but even if you get a table, the restaurant is small with an open kitchen, so you will be smelling the fried food(tempura) oil smell. Definitely not pleasant dining environment. That said, it’s a perfectly adequate place for takeout. The quality of sushi is similar to Mall food court, but they are only charging Mall food court price as well. Service is super friendly. They are a very nice family owned place. Besides the sushi rolls, I tried the unagi over rice. It’s more pricey at $ 14 but you get a lot of unagi. I definitely recommend this dish, only ask they don’t put as much sauce in the rice. They have $ 8 lunch specials, that look like a great deal. If you work around there, lucky you! Give them a try for lunch takeout.

This place is great! Wish they had more locations! So many times I’ve craved ramen or Katsu curry or other Japanese dishes but could only get it at dedicated ramen shops with weird hours or fancy Japanese restaurants. This place is simple, good, and cheap!

I think RAWR has a lot of things going for it. Mainly, the customer service is amazing! Everyone is so friendly and accommodating; you can tell this is a family-run restaurant. On my most recent visit, I came with two others, and we got some veggie sushi rolls, chicken teriyaki, and salmon teriyaki. The teriyaki bowls come with miso soup whereas the sushi does not. However, the woman tending to our table was nice enough to provide a third miso soup bowl! I thought this was a very nice touch, and these days, it’s hard to find such hospitality and warmness. The sushi was okay but nothing special. I’ve had better sweet potato rolls elsewhere, and the cucumber and avocado rolls were small. The sushi menu is pretty plain, so don’t come here expecting rolls full of 10 ingredients. The teriyaki bowls were fine size-wise, but they were kind of bland. I’m glad RAWR has some unexpected items that are authentically Japanese. Namely, takoyaki. I would like to go back and try it. Bottom line: the sushi is simple, and the entrees are fine. The service is spectacular!

To start off, the staff here is extremely friendly and the prices are very reasonable. But, the sushi is lowgrade and so is the food in general. It’s very cheap and fast food. I got a salmon bento and it was a very generous piece of salmon, but it was greasy. Everything is served on stryofoam and presentation is sloppy. You don’t feel like you’re eating good quality food, probably because you’re not.

YES!!! Another fantastic Japanese cuisine option in the Springfield area! I’ve been saying it since we’ve moved here… why isn’t there a decent ramen place around here? Enter RAWR! We ordered takeout and had: Katsu Curry: Surprisingly decent portion! The pictures looked like it might leave you hungry — but it was plenty for dinner for one! The curry was so good — reminds me of The Curry House! Sashimi entrée: Fresh fish! I believe it was 12 pieces. The salmon was very good. I think the slices could have been a little more generous. Spicy tuna handroll: Pretty standard. Would order again. Generous portion of fish. Spicy miso ramen: The STAR! Again, from the photos it might look like the portions are small but they’re not! The ramen alone was enough for dinner. The noodles were PERFECT and had a generous amount. So much noodles that I wish I had a little more broth. Oh, and I wanted more broth because it was so very tasty. The seasoned boiled egg was perfect runny, I wish I had like 4 more. I can’t wait to try the other ramen options. The service was very nice over the phone and in person. I called my order in over the phone and everything was ready in 15 minutes. Springfield really needed a «fast food» version of a Japanese restaurant. Yes it’s fast, but the quality is excellent & all very well packaged for transport. I will be a take-out regular!

I found this place when looking for good ramen. I ate here twice with two different Ramens. First was the Okinawa style. It was okay, however I did find the broth itself was fairly flavorless, since the only flavor I tasted was pork fat. Nothing against pork fat, but I wanted a bit more. I’m glad the soy sauce at the table helped that out. Second was the spicy miso. The flavor was good, although not really that spicy. I used the chili oil they provided, and that didn’t give me enough heat either. All in all, it was still tasty. I haven’t tried the sushi out yet, but I hope to get a chance and give a more deeper review. But I do recommend it for a quick ramen meal. The only one I haven’t tried was the Tonkotsu. Maybe next time I’m in the neiborhood.

so I ordered a delivery from this place thru EAT24 app from my phone… I ordered 2 spicy tuna rolls and it was pretty good. I also ordered 2 Unagi Don(grilled ell over rice) the taste was good EXCEPT there’s tons of fish bones all around the ell… now I know that there’s suppose to be some bones in them but these bones I got are not. NOT soft enough to be eaten! I even got one one stuck in my throat… couldn’t even finish the whole 2 bowls I ordered.

Really enjoyed my ramen. The broth was great and the toppings were perfect. The pork was delicious and plentiful and the egg was seasoned and soft boiled. The noodles were pretty solid as well. Didn’t have any issue with sogginess, though my ramen was takeout, so I added them right before I ate. Been looking around for a ramen joint to call home. One that reminded me of my favorite places in NYC. A hole in a wall joint, where the ramen is reasonably priced, easy to get, and hits the spot on a cold winter night. One where I don’t have to wait an hour plus(toki underground, I’m looking at you). I think I’ve just found my new go to place. Oh and their sushi is still yummy too.

Yummm! Such delicious food in a relaxed environment. This place is a small cozy place with an awesome selection of food. You can definitely tell it is a family owned and operated restaurant. The staff is friendly and eager to serve us and food was so fresh and priced reasonably. Portions were a decent size and there was left overs. We got the shrimp tempura rolls. You have to seriously try this roll. It was crispy and fried to perfection. The rice was cooked perfectly. It was so good that we ordered another one! I also tried their pork ramen. They have a delicious broth. It is salty and the pork was flavorful and tender. It came with half an egg. I wasn’t a fan of their noodles though. It was too mushy and not chewy enough. However, I would recommend this if you are in the mood for hot soup. You can’t go wrong with this option. I got a pork tonkatsu bento box. It came with six California rolls. The rolls had big chunks of avocado in them and crab meat. The rice was cooked perfectly too. It was chewy and moist. So addicting! In addition, the bento box came with a small salad with a sweet and tangy dressing. It was a big portion. I had food left over. Love this place:)

Craving Ramen and not wanting to drive to D.C. I searched Unilocal for a place to get my craving fixed. My girlfriend and I found Rawr and seeing that it is a relatively new restaurant we decided to go try it out. Upon getting to the shopping center we did not know where it was located exactly so we circled the shopping center two times. When we finally found it, it’s located behind Kmart. We ordered the takoyaki as an appetizer and two bowls of tonkotsu ramen. The takoyaki came with three pieces in a plastic foam bowl. I have never had takoyaki so I can’t compare their quality with others but the amount of octopus in it was good. The ramen also came in a plastic disposable bowl. The ramen was not horrible but I have had better for sure. You don’t get that much ramen, but for the price you pay it makes sense. It is way cheaper then other ramen places. The meat and egg were cooked well, but the broth and noodle was lacking. The broth was lacking in taste and the noodles were way too chewy. Overall, I don’t think I will be returning back to this restaurant. I rather pay a higher price and get more filling and flavorful ramen else where.

So you’re telling me I can order online now(via trusty Unilocal ap) and get sushi delivered right to my door? I’m pretty sure this justifies me becoming a hermit during the cold winter months… sorry, not sorry. RAWR Sushi is awesome! They have a medium sized menu with several different types of sushi, ramen, bento boxes and several traditional entrees. I highly recommend the spicy crunch salmon roll, it’s like crack! Pricing is good and service is fairly quick. I will dine in eventually, I’m sure, but for now I am totally content having the tastiness dropped off right at my door. Update: They changed the containers for their glorious ramen liquid which=no more spillage when delivered! Woo! AND they now have several new specialty rolls and 3 different types of ramen now. Double wooo!!!

The food is about 2.5 stars, but RAWR Sushi is a relatively new establishment that demonstrated exceptional customer service, so I’m gonna take it easy on them. My boyfriend and I came here on a cold Saturday night to try some of their ramen. We ended up ordering their tonkotsu ramen(the only ramen they offer) and some takoyaki. The ramen was relatively cheap — $ 8.50 — but it was also on the small side. My general impression of the ramen was not too great; the broth lacked any depth/complexity and the noodles were a little overcooked(soggy). However, the chashu(2 pieces) was melt-in-your-mouth tender and the marinated egg(½ an egg) was perfectly soft boiled. I’m no takoyaki expert, but I have to say that I enjoyed the takoyaki(3 pieces for $ 3.50) here. They were hot/fluffy and generously stuffed with small pieces of octopus. I haven’t had a chance to try any of their maki or bento boxes yet, and despite my rather so-so experience at RAWR Sushi, I certainly think I’ll be back to try their maki if I don’t feel like making the trek out to a sit-down sushi establishment. Or if I’m feeling suuuuper lazy, perhaps I’ll utilize their delivery services — how convenient!

There’s finally a fast casual Japanese restaurant in Springfield now! Rawr is located behind the Hard Times and next to the Flame Kabob in Springfield Plaza. We’ve ordered carry out from here once, and we dined in once. In addition to sushi rolls(no matter the type of fish, they’re all the same price — $ 4.50 each roll), they also serve bento boxes(with rice, miso soup, salad, and a California roll), entrée bowls, ramen, and appetizers. The takoyaki was pretty impressive and a steal for $ 4. My boyfriend enjoyed the tonkatsu ramen(only $ 8) and I inhaled my [crispy!] pork katsu over rice! We also ordered the spicy crunchy salmon roll and the spicy crunchy white tuna roll, which were also above average. The prices of the food here range from $ 2 to $ 12, which is fairly cheap for this area. The quality of the food is great(it is fast casual so don’t expect any fancy presentation) and the service here is very friendly. We’ll definitely be picking up food from here more often in the future.

Springfield Plaza’s newest addition is Rawr Sushi, which offers a fast casual style Japanese restaurant. Granted, it’s less of a sit down restaurant and more like a lunch counter. And rather than sushi, it’s more of a bento(lunchbox) place. Entrees range from $ 8.50 to $ 12 with bento box options at $ 10. The California Roll is one of the best in recent memory. Plump, fresh avocados and moist sticky rice. The pork tonkatsu properly breaded and fried. Portions are also quite reasonable. Overall, Rawr is a satisfactory meal. Nothing spectacular or extraordinary but certainly a reliable dining option. 3 Stars — «A-Okay!»
