Baked lasagna was really good, salad was tasty, but it is a little loud. Will return in the future!

I had the Chicken Parmigiana and it was very good. My wife had the Baked Lasagna and loved it. Tables are a little close, but overall it’s a great restaurant. We will return.

When my brother is in town from California the only place he wants to go is Saputo’s for their Italian breaded steak! Imagine a lemon infused char-crusted New York Strip or Filet seared to mouthwatering perfection! Paired with one of their fine wines & you will have discovered one of Springfield’s best kept secrets.

Stopped at Saputo’s for the first time last night. All three of us enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and wonderful smells of great Italian food cooking! Our daughter asked for a light sauce and the server recommended the vodka sauce, a big hit with our daughter. Hubs and I had the clam linguini in white sauce — best I’ve ever had. This is a light, almost clear sauce with lots of broth and not a lot of fat. I also ordered the anchovy salad, basically the dinner salad with the best, freshest tasting brined anchovies I’ve ever had. The pasta dinners come with a salad and choice of 3 tasty meatballs or sausage on the side. We had the meatballs and liked them. The service we received was top-notch, prices were very reasonable, and the food was really good. To top it all off, On the way out we saw an enormous, delectable looking pizza being served — will definitely be back!

We were on our way back from Chicago and found Saputo’s on Unilocal and decided to try. We didn’t have a reservation arrived at 5:40 on a Friday evening. They were booked but gave us their last open table, made us feel like family and the food was fantastic. The house dressing is amazing, bread was awesome and our dishes chicken fettuccine and chicken Parmesan were the best. Would recommend to everyone and we will be sure and stop in again if we are in Springfield IL.

Full of smoky back-rooms and corrupt politicians, Saputo’s is that homey Sicilian mobster Italian joint you’ve been searching for. It’s not the best, but they do have several very good dishes I would recommend to anyone. My go-to is the Chicken & Peppers — it is two grilled chicken breasts covered in roasted bell peppers, onions, and a spicy marinara sauce. The spaghetti and meatballs is also very good. The marinara sauce is what sets this place apart from competitors — it is very very good. I definitely recommend giving Saputo’s a try.

Best chocolate martini ever! Great French martini as well. Hubby likes the cheesy baked lasagna and the warm bread is to die for! Baked cheese manicotti is my fave as is the warm chocolate cake. Delicious! Great service, especially love waitress Shirley.

AMAZING!!! I’m VERY picky about sauces and their white and red sauces are both to die for. I could eat there everyday.

I guess every city has a restaurant like this. 1970’s style Italian food, dated décor, poor lighting inside, music that shouldn’t be in an Italian restaurant unless it is hosted by a young John Travolta in a white suit, the smell glory days gone by– literally. Was the food tasty? It was average. Lots of cheese. The server was very kind and attentive. Would I go back? Highly unlikely. Would I recommend it? Again, highly unlikely. The prices were much higher than the food could accommodate.

We were here for a conference and the hotel staff recommend this restaurant. I am not sure how this remains a Springfield tradition. The food was mediocre at best and our waitress acted like we were a bother to her. She barely made eye contact with us as she rushed past our table to serve another behind us. Not only were we aggravated by her inattentiveness, but also with the 20 minute wait to get out check. Ver disappointed.

Needed a quick late night bite when staying over night in downtown Springfield and the hotel receptionist suggested Saputos for good pizza for Chicagoans. It was walking distance to the hotel which was good but we were disappointed with the meal. We ordered a large sausage thin crust and spagetti and meatballs. The pizza was average, nothing really stood out. The spagetti and meatballs lacked flavor and was definitely not enough to match the $ 15.95 price tag. It came with 4 pieces of bread and although, the menu said it came with salad, we didn’t get ours. Regretted eating in.

1 out of 3 diners had a satisfactory meal the night we dined, but didnt feel inclined to pursue the hassle of getting meals reaccomplished. Very«retro» and not in a positive way. Weird, dim lighting, dingy feel about it. Our server was OK — had spurts of efficiency and then disapperared for longer that acceptable time spans, we had to ask 3 times for bread. It seems to have a loyal following undoubtedly fueled somewhat by nostalgia, in my opinion. Just visiting Springfiled and this was recommende by a long time local, I would not go back.

Saputo’s is old school, the kind if place that grandparents would be drawn to. I am always taken back upon entering the establishment as it is old, and dark. But I think it’s oldness can be viewed as experience. The service is basic(they are not putting on a show or doing that phony kissing butt thing), but very good(all of my needs are met in a courteous manner). The drinks are great. And the food is phenomenal. The food is what will always bring me back to Saputo’s when I’m near Springfield!

I usually eat at Saputo’s when I’m in town but my most recent experience might change that. Our group had a Friday night reservation. We were promptly seated and drinks were delivered in a timely manner. After that it all went down hill. We waited for our waitress for 20 minutes when she arrived to take our orders. The problem was that no one had a menu. She delivered menus and we ordered an appetizer. She returned 15 minutes later to take our orders. 10 minutes later we inquired about our appetizer and she had forgotten to put it in. We had a toddler with us so time management was important and he was getting hungry and restless. The appetizer came out after 10 more minutes. 5 minutes later our salads arrived and a couple of them were not as ordered but the waitress quickly fixed the problem. About 15 minutes later our meals arrived. Everything looked good but as we started our meals we were a bit disappointed. Several of us ordered filets for dinner. The steaks arrived tepid. In fact the platters were cool enough to hold your fingers against without any heat. A cool $ 32 filet leaves much to be desired. The rest of the meal went ok but the waitress did little to remove the stacks of dirty plates and empty glasses. The restaurant was busy but not packed. It appeared as though they had private parties in the back which sapped their staff. The service was disappointing but the quality of the good was even more disappointing. Considering that we spent $ 300 on dinner we really expected a better experience.

Quick review… Old school Italian joint. Delicious bread Try the red House salad dressing Expect big portions and lots of cheese on the baked entrees You won’t save room for dessert If you’re under 50 you will be one of the younger people there. Kicks ass.

S’ok. Very supper club-like. Baked lasagna and similar dishes were cheeee-sy, which isn’t a problem if you like a pound of cheese in your meal. Marinara sauce was nice. Meatballs were tasty but fairly tough. Good service. Pleasant enough, just nothing to write home about.

Awesome food In a really intimate family owned atmosphere. The baked Mostaccioli is redonk!
