this place is a must when you come to the town of springfield, il. the service is good and the food is even better you will not be disappointed. love their manicotti or cheese ravioli. they are one of the few local businesses is springfield, so be sure to support them when you’re in town

Worst experience! Ordered carry out pizza. Was told it would be ready in 25 minutes. Waited 25 minutes and left to pick up pizza. 30 minutes later I was still waiting for my pizza. Finally received my pizza, drove home and discovered it was the wrong pizza! I called them and complained. Gallinas’ brought me another pizza but made sure to collect the wrong pizza! Not sure if that is a health code violation? Unbelievable!

After living in Springfield for 3 years we finally found an Italian restaurant that tastes authentic. Being from a city that had amazing Italian I was giving up hope! Their pizza is great, the sauce is amazing and portions are truly Italian …

The place is a dive. Great place to grab a slice of pie. The Cannoli is remarkable. The place is ran by hairy Italian men with poor customer service, but like I mentioned before. It’s a dive. I would eat here again, but I know not to expect 4 star service or meals from places like this.
Feels like an inner city pizza place. If you want fancy… «Fo get a bout it !!!»

Best pizza in Springfield Joe senior is a stand-​up person some of the best food in this town when it comes to pizza and garlic knots this has been a staple of my life for 30 years and is worth every dime. say hi to Vito when you’re in there and his brother Joe

Pizza crust is right up there with some of the worst I’ve ever had. Cardboard might be better. Service? If ordering at a counter when dining in is your thing and having to take a glass back to the counter for a refill is your thing, then I guess that passes for «service.» Would never eat another pizza from this place.

Did not care for the sauce with the rigatoni. I would not order it again. The fresh bread was great. I’ve had a lot of cannoli and this one was awesome. Beware the «extra» filling on the plate probably means that the inside didn’t get filled. Break it open before eating to see.

One of the best homemade sauces I have tried. And it is always consistent. Family owned restaurant for many years. Vito is awesome. I always get the baked eggplant that comes with spaghetti and loaded with baked mozzarella. The only true Italian (Sicilian) family run restaurant in Springfield. And they deliver. This place is a gem.

Oh sweet baby Jesus, there’s nothing better than a slice or two of Gallinas pizza — except maybe getting one of their calzones. It’s greasy, it’s delicious, the crust isn’t too thick or thin… The only thing that would make it better would be if they were open all night so you could go after hitting the bars, but really you can’t blame them for that. I’ve never met anyone who, when Gallinas is mentioned, has not said they loved it, and for good reason!

The pizza was addictive. We liked the taste and the service. Unfortunately, the crust was overdone and pretty chewy. We liked it, but it was also too salty to be a good choice for my family because my girls were reaching for water like it was going out of style. On to try the next local pizza joint.

Went to Springfield for the weekend from Chicago. If I was able to try the pizza, I could have commented on that but since we waited 1.5 hours, yes you read that correctly an hour and a half and nothing! The guy behind the counter should have set some sort of expectation. There were about 4 tables with people sitting so I’m not sure what the problem was but this was pretty bad. Place was divey, dirty. Will NEVER go back.

Great pizza and enjoyable atmosphere. We visit Springfield every 3 months and since finding Gallina ’ s 3 years ago it is our lunch destination. The garlic knots are awesome!

I have lived in Springfield for over 20 years and had never eaten here. I’m a huge pizza fan so when I discovered this place, my guard was up. After eating here, I had found my new favorite pizza place. Their pizza is perfect!

Great pizza! The sausage was the best. The salad was a little bland, but overall good.

Absolutely delicious. From the hot bread, to the garlic knots and baked rigatoni… perfect American-​Italian fare. Highly recommended!

Had a small pizza, could only eat half of it. It was very good. If your looking for thin crust this is NOT for you. My wife had the daily special which was ravioli. It too was very good. I would definitely come back here.

After I ran the Lincoln Half Marathon we had some drinks and I needed to upload some carbs. The server at JP Kelly’s recommended this place. It looks like a slice of Italy. You have to order at the counter. They have a daily special, pizza by the slice and by the pie. The menus offers sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes, two types of pizza (Sicilian and deep dish) plus desserts. They have fountain soda, draft beer, bottle beer and wine. We felt like we had hit the jack pot.
We ordered the garlic knots for an appetizer, and the special of the day. It did not take long for the appetizer and the owner even brought out extra bread to help us celebrate my victory. We were so shocked. the server brought us our rigatoni special. Oh my goodness, everyone was licking their plates clean.
It is a shame that no one has Unilocaled about this place. This is a must stop in Springfield. Our server said they even deliver.
