The Burger Bar

This is my first time here and I was not disappointed! They have a great menu and even a «make your own burger» section. I ordered the Mac and cheese burger and it was delicious! A nice big ham er with homemade white cheddar cheese macaroni served on a croissant bun. The margarita was very potent, no skimping there! I will definitely be coming back again!

I really enjoy this place! Very friendly owner and staff. Make sure you specify if you want your burger less done. I’d like to see a California buger with avacodo and red onion! Garlic burger is my favorite!

great burger. Was in for lunch one day last week and had the blue cheese burger. Burger was juicy, tons o cheese, great pretzel bun. !Fast service. recently voted best burger in spfld and I don’t have any argument with the award!

Extremely long wait time for no reason at all. The burger was delicious but not worth waiting an hour for.

Everytime we go to the burger bar the service is wonderful the staff is always friendly and willing to offer suggestions and the food is fantastic the bourbon burger is my favorite with the waffle fries

I had such a horrible experience at this restaurant that I feel like I have to write a review on it. I know overall the restaurant has 4 – 5 stars, but I can’t help but wonder if those are people that know the family who owns it.
Cons:
1) The wait was horrendous. We sat down, ordered promptly, and then waited… and waited… and waited. From the time we gave our order to the time our food (which was just burgers… nothing more) actually came was 1 hour, 40 minutes.
2) There is absolutely no customer service. After an hour of waiting for our food (burgers), we asked the waitress if there was an issue with our food. Other tables who sat down after us had already gotten their food. She said it would come soon. We asked if there was any way we could get a quick appetizer to hold us over, but she said the appetizer would take just as much time as the food (If that was the case, our food should have been out a long time ago). Then, after 15 more minutes, I asked if I could speak to the owner. We had been waiting an hour and 15 minutes at this point, only for burgers we ordered. I asked if we could have a free round of drinks or a discount on our food. The owner came over, and this is how our conversation went:
Owner: «Well you guys have only been waiting an hour for your food».
Me: «Actually we have been waiting well over an hour. Other tables have already got there food. We understand orders sometimes get lost, but this isn’t acceptable to wait so long when we only ordered burgers… something that is quick to make.»
Owner «We have our best servers here tonight. I’ve been busy too, I even did the dishes. Plus, it looks like you have some cake.»
He then proceeded to walk away…
The cake was from a table next to us who was celebrating a birthday and they felt bad for us and gave our table some cake. Also, the burger bar couldn’t have that many dishes. They serve the food in plastic baskets.
Eventually we get our food, and it was really good. However, I feel like the owner disrespected me, never even apologized and for that he lost a customer. I will never go back there.

Came in for dinner with my husband, atmosphere is so awesome n all the games are on tv which makes it great for us The owners are so great they came over to say hi and thanks for coming in Need more business’s like this in Springfield! Very appreciative and great drinks!

Great food and great atmosphere. We had a a great waiter and the food came out fairly quickly. They had a wide selection of toppings for the build your own burger section along with other good options for their standard menu. Loved this place and recommend it to anybody stopping through down, or local.

So on our visit to SF this weekend, we made a stop at the burger bar. It did not disappoint! The wings were amazing! The horseshoe was to die for! The server was fast and friendly. We are fans. Can’t wait to go back!

Good burger, cold beer, cozy joint!

I think I am turning into one of those people who only review the things I don’t like and I need to work on that… that being said here are my thoughts on The Burger Bar. My husband discovered this place shortly after it opened and raved about the burgers so we went shortly thereafter. On our second visit we went during the week for lunch. My husband, lets call him R., may be an anomoly but he likes his burgers medium rare. Not medium or medium well but medium rare. Now, he is willing to forgive a bit over most of the time but when your resturant is named The Burger Bar and you specailize in burgers, well, you need to get it right. His burger came out during this second visit charred and completely overcooked. We aren’t talking medium or even medium well but well done and then some. My burger, ordered medium, was cooked better than his. Not one to complain during dinner as we aren’t about the «free» meal that sometimes is a result of said complaint we waited until after we paid the check and told our server and her response essentially was sorry… will try better next time which was fine because she acknowledged and apologized and we left thinking it was just a bad day for the cook, no big deal.
With thoughts still in his mind of the first great burger he got we returned again with our daughter, overcooked again, and then another visit several weeks later. This time, after another completely charred burger we were told the grill was really small and sorry but sometimes it happens. I was done and over the place… I mean seriously… if you don’t have adequate equipment and can’t cook a burger to order don’t call yourself a specialty burger place.
R went back for one last visit with a friend for lunch one day. To this point comments had been made to the server and the prior visit to the owner/​manager, not sure which. This time a women, who he said was either the co-​owner or day manager, came over and asked how their food was and after the final burnt burger R told her, flat out, about his desire to support local business but after many visits and many excuses his burger was overcooked yet again. She apparently didn’t really want to know how his burger was because she launched into an attack telling him that he should have come at a different time of the day and it wasn’t their fault the burger was overcooked… blah, blah, blah. Really… we, the paying customer, need to come back after multiple visits, at a time that is convenient for them to cook our burger properly?!? I am sorry… who is the customer here?
For any run of the mill bar food do they have good burgers, yes they do, but for a place called The Burger Bar… not so much. Not to mention I am sure Hubert Keller would be thrilled about the name/​concept of one of his restaurants being «borrowed». Would give them a 3 for the food (as long as you don’t care if your burger is cooked to order) and a 1 for the management.

My brother-in-law’s band had a gig here last Saturday and my husband and I agreed to go. We hadn’t heard of «The Burger Bar» before, so we were making jokes about how the burgers better be good given they put it in their business name. Let me say, we were not disappointed. By recommendation of one of the band members, I tried the Sweet Bourbon Burger with sweet potato fries. My husband ordered the Philly Burger with waffles fries. I didn’t get to try any of his food, but my burger was amazing. It will be hard for me to go and try something else now, knowing how much I loved that one. We also ended up ordering the buffalo chicken ravioli and the fried mac & cheese, which were also good. We will certainly be heading back there in the future and taking friends!
