I have no idea why this is in the visitor’s guide for Springfield. We went thinking it would be more historic– nope, not the case. It is in a strip mall and shares a wall with Panera so it seemed super odd. As a local library however, it was good. It’s close to food, has multiple reading areas, it’s clean/orderly, there are many open computers, you can self checkout, read current magazines and newspapers, etc. There is even a play area for little kids in their section and even with that the library was not loud. Tourist attraction rating: 1⁄5 Local library: 4⁄5 Combined: 3⁄5

I work for a school that works with students with special needs. Most of our kids are 13+ with limited communication skills. The staff are so cooperative and even take the time to find the books the kids like. They are also very patient while we translate ASL! Very cool kids section.

This is the loudest library I have ever tried to study at. Even in the private study rooms, I have difficulty concentrating, due to the people in the neighboring rooms. Sometimes it’s children and other times it’s adults or both. It is a beautiful library, but if you are trying to study and need to concentrate, this is not the place. Out of the eight times I have used a study room, there have only been two times which were quiet and peaceful. Today, the people in the room next to me were so loud, the people outside of the rooms, who were several yards away, moved because of the noise. I called the library from my room and requested someone to speak to the people making the noise, but an attendant merely walked past and did not address the issue. I later found out some of the noise was coming from the room on the other side of me. An older lady was using her laptop for a conference call and had the volume very high. I could hear her phone call 10 feet away from her door. I decided to give a rating of two stars because of the ability to use the computers for most anything as well as printing and how beautiful the library is. However, I did not give any more stars due to the noise and the employees, generally, not caring enough to do more than their duties. Sometimes, not even that much. Most of the employees, not all, don’t seem to want to be here. Sorry for the poorly written review. I am in a bit of a hurry and I would forget to write this if I didn’t do it now.

I have not lived in Greene County for YEARS and I am happy my tax dollars go to support the FABULOUS libraries throughout the county. Yes, I really wrote I am happy I pay taxes to support these libraries!!! I visit The Station the most when I am back in Springfield. The theme throughout the branch is «transportation». The décor is in line with the theme and EXTRAORDINARY. There are plenty of free use computers and wireless available for the community. The children’s programs are amazing and the area for kids is exceptional. My nephews can hang out at this library all afternoon. What a GREAT way for children to have fun while learning. I have lived in many different places across the country and some much larger towns — Springfield(without a doubt!), has the most remarkable library facilities.
