We were in town for a special event on Saturday. Attempted to check in at 4pm on Friday. Our room was not ready. At 5pm it still was not ready. I indicated that I had been waiting for an hour and had dinner plans and needed to get ready and drive to the dinner. Another room was found for me at that time. The next day, Saturday, my room was empty all day, but the room was minimally serviced(no clean towels furnished, dirty glasses left in the room.) The only reason I knew that the room had been serviced was that the pillows on the bed had been fluffed. This was done sometime between 2 and 5 pm. When we returned from our event, dirty towels were heaped by the doors in the hall and trash bags were in the hall. Sunday the room was not serviced at all with Friday’s dirty glasses, the dirty linens from the weekend, all were still in the room at 9:30pm. I then called the desk to ask for clean towels and toilet paper!!! What a disappointment this stay was for us. Additionally, on Sunday afternoon they had a DJ at the pool who played electronic dance music at full volume and with full-on bass. We went out to use the pool for a couple hours, but left after only 30 minutes. It was awful!!! The pool is surrounded on three sides by buildings, and the sound just vibrated thru the area. There were maybe 4 people enjoying the music-the rest of us were just tolerating it. Lastly, we went to get something to eat from the bakery, but there were FLIES in the bakery case with the food. Talk about turning our stomachs. We will not be staying at an Ameristar property again. There are too many better choices.

I’ve been to Ameristar casino numerous times to gamble at late hours, and it’s been a decent experience. But this time was the LAST time I go back… So the last time I visited I was with a group of girls for a birthday party when we entered. And when we went to the bar to get a drink, I(sober) was asked to follow the security guard. He asked me if I had drank before coming and I said«well I am celebrating a friend’s birthday so I had a shot and a drink» and he IMMEDIATELY asks me to leave. I then asked why and he said, «well you admitted signs to intoxication so I have to ask you to leave» I totally understand that IF my friends or I were acting impaired, but in this case non of us were!!! We didn’t fight with the security but we left immediately and we probably won’t be back! It was embarrassing for NO reason!

When I ordered my drink at the casino bar, Blackjack, I should have asked them to hold the flies!!! I almost puked when I saw it in my drink! However, I remained calm, cool and collect. I wish I could said the same about the staff. Instead of offering an apology, they were combative and called me «feisty» and told me I couldn’t get a fresh drink AND refund for the inconvenience. I opted for a refund instead and asked them if bugs in their drinks were normal since the bartender was so nonchalant about the situation. Of course, the answer was no but, still… don’t be trashy and combative with the customer. Have some class. You are here to serve…

Although the location is superb the customer service is awful. From the moment I went into the casino, they questioned my ID and called someone else to look at it. Once I was inside, I had several guards come ask for my ID. It was the night of my 23rd birthday. I understand I’m young but this was a bit ridiculous. I had over $ 50 in change that I asked the cashier to run through the machine and she shorter me $ 25. The manager came following me letting me know I was shorted after I was upset because I know I had roughly $ 50.

I have been coming to the Sunday brunch for years. The food is always fresh and of course plenty of it. I enjoy the fresh cut meats and the omelette station is also very good. Being able to have an unlimited amount of champagne/mimosas is always a plus. Our waitress was very friendly! My only complaint was the rude lady working behind the French toast station. Grrrrr… my suggestion would be that she leaves the attitude at her doorsteps.

this is about the casino and resteraunts. was the only casino i went to. was also the closest to my home. that is the only good thing i can say about it now. this new managerment has sucked the joy out of going there i had not been to hollywood casino in seven years. it is so bad at ameristar that i now go to hollywood. the food has went down, service is horrible, [not workers fault, they are so shorthanded} machines do not work, checking points are hard. areas are closed down horrible. i would not recommend to friends. the ones that do go there do nothing but complain.

This place is a shit hole and always has been. Security staff are a bunch of dicks, and actually l told me and some friends they didn’t want our business because they where to lazy to check an ID. If I don’t want a player’s card I shouldn’t have to get 1 correct? I was just DD’ing for friends and that’s the only reason I visited this turd, but I will sure as hell never visit them again. I will also make sure that I let everyone know that casino staff said, and I quote, «they don’t want customers money». I only wish I could remember your staffers name so you could give him a employee of the month award.

If you aren’t from Missouri, and you’re not used to smoke filled rooms, then this might not be the place for you. Yes, smoking is allowed all over this property, in the guest rooms, restaurants, clubs. We requested a non-smoking room and when we opened the door the nicotine smell nearly knocked us down. Luckily there was a ‘better’ room on another floor. Our traveling partners weren’t so lucky, an a/c vent in their room seemed to pump the casino smoke air through the the vent to their room. Two-night stay and got back to our room at midnight the first night after the wedding we were attending off-site and returned to our room to find that the maid hadn’t bothered to service the room. Needless to say we won’t be coming back, as there are plenty of other hotel solutions close-by.

Not a huge gamer myself, but have friends who are. This is the best casino in STL. I feel like they always have new and exciting games and there is ample parking! Even when the place is packed, never have trouble finding a spot. I also enjoy eating at the Deli on the second level. Lots of variety and great for when you want a snack or light meal without having to leave the casino. Also, and this is a little thing, but as a coffee drinker, I appreciate that they have liquid creamer… not that nasty powder crap. If you ever have the chance, check out the VIP Lounge. Been a guest there a couple times and it’s super fun. The good and drink are good… and the décor is kind of retro ‘70s!

Ameristar is a great place for a night out on the town. My favorite restaurants on property are the«Falcon Diner»(try the cheese fritters) and the sports bar(try the pretzel) Both offer wonderful service and great food! Tons of amenities right here in the Midwest. It’s also very clean, and the employees are very hospitable. I’ll definitely be back to try my luck!

Last time here pool closed for a private party… it would be nice to know before bringing kids here. Service is slow at hotel desk. Room wasn’t ready on time. Bottom line is if you have plenty of time to wait on everyone that works here including the restaurants, enjoy.

I’m at the casino on Christmas, not crowded and I’m not winning. Just here to entertain the thought of winning. Not playing more than 150

Everything was good here except the security. I don’t know what they achieved by asking the month of birth… And not sure why their machine shows red on my ID card and not sure what their manager has achieved by asking the same month of birth question again before he allowed me into the casino. Yes they were kind and good but I think you either trust your security staff or change your machines which shows red light for a valid ID proof… No matter you win or loose in gambling… If the dealers are a little more active it would have been great… Still I would say nice place to visit and spend some time and money!!!

I have lived in Atlantic City for 20 years so I’m very familiar with major casinos and service. I went to the club inside Ameristar for Halloween party. It was big. Music was good. Bartenders were great. Good atmosphere. Two things that ruined it 1. The security staff are a bunch of a holes. They act like they’re FBI. You’re just a security staff. Get over yourself. Upon arriving. When they were checking ids they were asking each person 3 or 4 questions about information On their Id. This took forever. And they weren’t even polite. Rude and classless. I can understand if you ask someone a few questions because you’re suspicious about them or they look really young… but every single person? It’s not kindergarten. We are customers. Have some class and respect. 2. I went with a friend who got pretty hammered and told me she was going to the bathroom. She went missing out for almost thirty minutes. I got worried. Started looking around for her. I knew she was sick and could be passed out in a stall or something. There was this manager guy walking around the club wearing a colorful suit as a Halloween costume. I asked him for help. He kept walking away and saying«I don’t know your friend… I’m busy«. My friend could be getting raped for all you know and all he had to do was make a call on the radio to be on the lookout for her. But this dude didn’t even listen to me. He just kept walking away. Asshole. That’s the only word I can think of when it comes to your staff. There are hundreds of casinos around the world that are successful and their employees have great attitudes. They’re polite and treat people like customers. Not criminals. Shame on you!

Best casino in St Louis! Huge selection of slots and lots of table games to please everyone! The rooms in the hotel are excellent. The staff throughout the facilities(hotel, spa, restaurants and casino) are friendly and happy to help!

The casino building seems updated and upscale with nice shops and restaurants but the gaming area seems older and dated. The slots are a mix of new and older style machines while the tables seem a bit dated too just not as glitzy as the rest of the building. Overall ambience of the gaming area was not exciting, pretty drab and dreary. Which means they must be tighter on their payouts… so no one really have much fun winning.

I’m a truck driver and over the years I’ve frequented this casino parking my rig in their oversize lot where dozens of trucks park with no problems. Well tonight deputy doofy comes up to me while I’m coming back to my truck after gambling and having a few drinks and tells me I can’t park here. Then proceeds to tell me they don’t want fucking truckers at their casino, well no need to worry Ameristar will never see another dime of my money.

Huge casino with a great, fun atmosphere– multiple restaurants and nightlife options– and beautiful, spacious hotel rooms all add up to a 5 star rating to me! This has always been one of my favorite places to go whether I’m just wanting to kick back and pay some penny slots during the day, or venture here after Main Street to continue the fun.

I can’t tell a lie, I’m a fan of Ameristar, have been since it opened. By comparison to the other casinos, this is my «go-to». I’ve only just posted now because of the overwhelming size of the Ameristar Club I purchased on the 2nd floor of the casino deli. This sandwich was stacked with ham, turkey, beef, bacon and cheddar plus the fixin’s. I could only eat ½ of it. It was very good! Meat was fresh, bread was perfect. If you need a late night eat and happen to be at the casino, I’d choose a sub.

This review is only for the casino portion! I’ve been in a few times. Really nice and easy to move around in. Staff is always walking around willing to help at any moment. My one friend and I went to the roulette table and asked the woman working the table how you play roulette. She explained it too us with ease. It was very informative and I thanked her for that(didn’t play that though). I like the slots a little better. I can make my money last longer and go away not spending as much as I would on tables. The slots are very easy to read and nicely set up. I go back with friends from time to time just to spend a dollar or two for some fun. Food wise, I haven’t had a lot of it. I will say this much, the diner isn’t my favorite place. I can’t find anything on the menu that I like there. The shakes are what saves it. Hopefully I can one day try the food.

Beginnings… Simply wonderful! Check in was a breeze, there were several people ahead of us and the line moved very quickly. Got up to our room to discover one of our keys did not work, went back down, front desk was very nice and fixed the problem right away. The room… If you can get a view on the river side. We were on the 22nd floor and the view was incredible. We had a Deluxe King Suite. Very large area with bed, and loved the sunken living room area. However the best part was the bathroom. Large, and spotless. I want my house to have this bathroom! Best hotel room I have ever stayed in. Only Complaint: Noisy kids, but what hotel does not have one or five? The Pool: Beautiful area, there is an indoor and outdoor, we only visited the outdoor area(inside looked too crowded), Went at night so it was a tad cold wish we could have stayed in longer. The Casino… We went mid week, not too busy but still a bit smoky. Had a snack at the Deli upstairs at the casino, very friendly, and food was satisfying. There is a small non-smoking area upstairs but it seemed like it was all the older worn down slot machines. Plenty of self-serve drink stations. Overall… Had a much needed enjoyable time, will return

We love staying here. I’m not a gambler or anything but I love the atmosphere at the casino. I love the lights, the people and the food there is great!!! The rooms is really nice and very spacious. The lobby and lounge area is very open and up to date. This is definitely the best casino is STL area, been to Hollywood Casino and that was terrible. The buffer at Ameristar is excellent as well. The rooms here aren’t very expensive and they usually will take care of you if you need something. The pool at the casino is awesome, indoor and outdoor pool. The outdoor pool is heated and has a ton of seating. The weight-room is located right next to the pool, I haven’t used their weight-room yet but will next time around.

I recently stayed here with my husband and sister in one of the normal rooms. We had two queen sized beds in a non smoking room, after getting a decent internet rate. We were all very impressed with the building and grandeur of the casino when we walked in from the covered parking garage. Fancy tile everywhere, cool lighting fixtures, wall mounted fountains, and an indoor promenade featuring several restaurants, a bakery, and the casino entrance. Very swanky, it almost felt like we were in Vegas again. When we arrived at our room, we were happily surprised once more. The room was lovely and clean, it was huge for a «lower end» room of a hotel. Not only was there a gigantic bathroom with a separate toilet room, bathtub, shower, and two sinks, but there were two areas of the room itself; the normal ‘beds and tv’ half and then a sitting area half. The sitting area was actually two steps down from the bed area and included a couch, a table and chairs, and held the empty refrigerator and safe beneath the television. There were floor to ceiling windows with a great view of the city and the pool below. It was snowing while we were there, yet brave souls still scurried to the hot tub outside. *shudder* We had a couple chances to visit the bakery downstairs, where we sampled the carrot cake, the brownie, the chocolate mousse, and the gooey butter. We really liked the carrot cake and the brownie. The chocolate mousse was alright, and the gooey butter was interesting. It was more of a mild cheesecake than anything else. We ate at one of the 5 restaurants, a seafood place called Pearl’s. It was delicious. I had the chef’s special of Thai noodles with shrimp and chicken, and my husband had the clam chowder and scallops from the appetizer section. Everything was excellent! Really delicious. They have a buffet like any casino buffet you’d go to, a steakhouse we sampled years ago that was great, a traditional diner-type eatery, and burger/fries/nachos/etc. venue. I wish we could have sampled them all, but three people can only eat so much. The casino itself is cool. Lots of energy and beverage stations where you can serve yourself coffee or soda. That is a huge perk! Anyone who’s been in Vegas has no doubt been annoyed waiting for a waitress to appear to take a drink order… with these stations you completely avoid that hindrance! Downside is the stations don’t house alcohol so you still have to go through a waitress for that. Wa wa waaaaaaahhh. The ONLY negative about our room for me and my sister, in particular, is that they utilize the same low light fixtures that most hotels utilize in the bathroom. It makes it extremely difficult to see yourself accurately in the mirror. You either appear as a zombie from Michael Jackson’s Thriller video with the lights shining down above your head, or, if you step back, your face is so dimly lit(to look sexier… I guess) that you have no clue if your foundation is blended thoroughly, etc. Tricky tricky. I know to always bring an extra small mirror on any trip so I can find the brightest light in the room to apply my makeup. Oh, and there is no fan in the bathroom so bring some sort of air freshener if you can. Yeah, you know why. At any rate, I recommend! It is a bit pricier than the Hilton or Motel 66, obviously, but it is worth it if you’ve got the money. A good time was had by all!

Did not gamble but stayed at the hotel for a food show convention. Hotel room was plentiful and had a great rate. Housekeeping made serve every morning when I walked out of the room if I needed anything extra when it gets mad. Great service from Estaban. Plenty of parking. Restaurants close early except for sports bar which is the only downside.

Quite an experience and it was not good at all. Negatives… Restaurants close early. Could not see the view of the river due to the 2″ of crud on the window. Furniture stuck in the 80’s. Got two keys, only one worked. Could not sit on the Sofa due to the giant unknown stain. No AC vents in the Bathroom. HOT.HOT.HOT… Room service was quick. Burger was tasty but arrived cold. Positives… Empty Hotel. Nice entrance. Looks like the Disney Boardwalk Hotel. Valet Guys were polite, on the ball and very helpful. Front desk staff got us in and out quick.(hotel was empty) The Diner inside the hotel was good for breakfast. Hotel Impossible needs to visit this establishment. Return visit? Would need a very good reason.

Before reading further, note at the time if this review, there are no regulars for this hotel on Unilocal. So it appears all the people that give this place 3 or better stars liked it but never enough to return and check in and/or write another review. After arriving in at 10:50pm we found all but one of the restaurants closed and only one bar was open with very slow service. We even had to pay a cover charge to get in to the only place that could serve drinks! Second night we met our group at Lixx inside of the casino, no service again. Asked the bartender for a drink told me to ask a waitress, asked the waitress and they told me to ask the waitress for our area, asked the second waitress told me I had to go back to the first waitress, what is this? Complain and the overbearing security will ask you to leave the casino if you complain. Management doesn’t care! Don’t bother complaining to them either. Don’t waste your time or money, go to Vegas where they have real casinos and treat you with good service and respect!

Very nicely decorated and well kept hotel. It’s convenient for conferences, attached to a casino and restaurants, very near the water and a short 20-min, $ 25 can ride from the airport. I loved the huge bathroom, the rooms with sunken living area, and 3 TVs to boot! Beds are comfy. Rooms are clean. HBO.(Yay! game of thrones is on!) Angelo at the front desk was very accommodating and helpful. Good job Ameristar(from a travel snob)!!!
