Went here thanks to a groupon. The food was pretty good and the ambiance of the restaurant itself was pretty nice. We were there on a weekend night so it was pretty busy, but not too bad. I would say that it was kinda loud in the dining area, but that was mainly due to a table with loud people. That’s always a little annoying, so it’s not really anything to do with the restaurant. In terms of the food, nothing really stood out as amazing. But nothing was really bad either.

So my friend wanted to go here for her birthday, so I checked out Unilocal and some other sites for reviews and checked out the menu and thought it looked ok. I always pass it but never think of going in. 1. The atmosphere is really warm and inviting. There is a fireplace… warm… 2. One thing that was kind of disgusting… they have what I think is a raw oyster bar mixed in with there normal bar… while I was waiting for my friend I peeked into the bar area(it is not hidden or a special room it is out in the open) and there were all these plates of eaten oysters laying on a table but they had looked like they had been there for a bit(it was just kind of gross)… I don’t know why someone did not pick up the plates as when I was waiting I was the first one in there for dinner… 3. They also have a backroom which I figure you could reserve for an event. 4. Server let see out of a 1 – 10 I would give her a –100…when we were seated the host had dropped out menus and the specials card on the table… then before the waitress spoke to us she reads the card while my friend and I were waiting for her to take our orders and then only she after she read the specials card and introduced herself and regurgitated what the specials were(which indicated to me she had no idea what the specials were) we thought that was rather unprofessional. She barely came back and saw us on what was a really slow Sunday… we saw the bus boys and the water man more than we saw our waitress. But she was what I guess what I would call friendly but she could really care less. 5. The host gentleman was weird(he may have been the owner or the manager)…you know at other restaurants when the manger may come by and ask you how your meal is etc… well this man tried to do the same thing but instead of introducing himself right away he stood at the end of our table for too long of a time(we were in a booth) stared at us with out saying anything and when I finally looked up he asked how we were doing but then after I answered«fine» he lingered again at the end of our table without saying anything(it was creepy). 6. The food was good… they had a large selection of different items from traditional to other items that were not so Greek. We had the flaming cheesed thing… I never can remember the name and it was really good… The bread that comes to the table is delicious!!! The servings are large my friend got the gyros and she was only able to get through about a quarter. The deserts are OK… I would recommend passing on them and going somewhere else. I would go here again but it would not come to first in mind as nothing special comes to mind. The service stinks the food is good. but I have had better greek food with much better service in the city and in other areas.

Restaurant Review Best of Chicago Greek restaurant??? I really wanted to like this restaurant after craving Greek fun and based on the positive reviews here on Unilocal,I decided to take my whole family here for dinner. Unfortunately it did not meet expectations… First of all, our waitress seemed annoyed that we did not order drinks for dinner. She quickly took our order for Flaming Saganaki Cheese which has always been amazing at Greektown restaurants. When it arrived, our waitress was afraid of pouring on the alcohol for the flambé and it ended up only sputtering with small amount of flame. I swear it barely even flared up. The cheese itself was overall super salty and period not good at all. The bread was great, served hot with olive oil or butter. The avgolemono soup was surprisingly good with chicken, lemon, and rice flavor. On to the meal… I ordered the combo 1 for $ 17.95 with an assortment of greek food Roast leg of lamb– HOLYCRAPBATMAN, by roast leg of lamb you mean a meager slice of lamb meat that isn’t even one ounce. It was delicious but there was barely anything there. I am not kidding this was the size of 4 quarters put together. If you don’t believe me check out my photo! Spinach cheese pie– above average, also salty with feta cheese and philo dough Dolmades– grape leaves with ground beef. This was flat out terrible, no flavor with tough grape leaves. I felt like I was eating leaves wrapped with tree bark Pastitsio-Baked macaroni mixed with ground beef. This was average macaroni w/beef. The flavor was present but again the portion size was ridiculously small. Vegetables and roasted potatoes– frozen vegetables two thumbs down. Roasted potato, I guess this is where my 17 dollars went for this dish as it occupied a good portion of my plate. Pro– large seating area, quick service Con– Terrible combo plate, small portion of lamb meat and pastitsio. Some items were salty others lacked flavor. Lack of training on how to flambé cheese correctly by our waitress. Personally this is not a good deal for your money and usually I am not critical of other restaurants Hidden deal– Buy gift certificates for savings off your meal

I drive by this place all the time, and never have gone in. When a Groupon deal($ 15 for $ 30 certificate) came up, I made my dad buy it. I love Mediterranean food(or so I thought — I can’t get enough Pita Inn, Naf Naf, Olive Mountain, etc). Service: 5 stars. Our waitress was really helpful, friendly, and very attentive, and the guy filling up the water was on top of his game. Also, when I took out my cell phone to take photos, the owner(I assume?) was over at our table so fast it was crazy. I think he thought we were secret diners or restaurant critics or something. Nope… just taking pics to send to my brother who couldn’t come and to post on Unilocal. Atmosphere: 4 stars. The place is huge(which is weird because there’s never more than like 8 cars in the parking lot, hence why the service is likely so good). You can see into the kitchen over a wall, and above the kitchen is a massive mural of the Mediterranean. Very cool. Food: 3 stars. My dad loved his stuffed flounder(from the special menu), but said the veggies tasted a little like canned/frozen carrots and peas(as other reviewers had said), but were still good. I had the veggie combo and wasn’t loving it — apparently I don’t like authentic Greek food, since it was all too rich for me. My mom tried a few of the things on my plate and loved it, and she usually hates Greek food, so go figure. My dad liked the stuff of mine he tried too. I got a crazy amount of food — stuffed grape leaves, mousaka(layered potato, egg plant, veggie thing), spinach pie, roasted veggies, and roasted potatoes(which were great). My dad and I both had a small Greek salad that came with our dinners, as well as delicious bread, and their house dressing is really good. My mom ordered the Odyssey salad, which wasn’t what she was expecting(because she didn’t read the menu properly), but was still good. Probably not worth $ 6.75, though. My water glass also looked a little dirty(like it had dried Coke spots on it or something), but everything else was really clean and fresh. Price: 3 stars. With the groupon deal it was great. It’s pretty reasonably priced normally for the amount of food you get. Verdict: I would go back and try something else… they have a tilapia special that sounded good. I didn’t order it because I knew we’d be going to Red Lobster in a day or two and I eat fish pretty much every day since I’m pescetarian. I wasn’t a huge fan of anything I had(except the bread, salad, and potatoes), but I think it’s me, not the food, since my parents both liked it a lot.

Stopped in tonight for dinner. We usually drive right by… Glad we stopped — the spanakopita(spinach pie) was great. Crust was crispy like it was just made for us. The moussaka was also delicious with inch thick layers of egg/potato(?) and a delicious sauce. The bread is what seals the deal for us, and the bread loaf here was fresh, expertly baked and warm on delivery. Bingo! The appetizer we chose could not have been tastier — skordalia — potatoes blended with garlic and olive oil server cold. great by the forkful or spread on bread and pitas. Service was spot on and quick. We ate at the bar where we were expertly attended to as well. All in all, a really pleasant surprise. Worth the trip past all of the places in downtown St. Charles and Geneva — especially if you’re hungry for Greek food. By the way, we heard the oysters are good, too. So we’ll be back!

Went to Dinner at the Oddssey with a coupon. Was surprised when we arrived that they had half off the menu so we decided to keep our coupon for another visit. The atmosphere here is very comfortable and nice and casual. Our waiter was very friendly and knew the menu well. He knew how the different items were prepaired and took his time to answer all our questions. For dinner I had the Saganacki, Terrocafteri and greek salad. The portion sizes here are quite large I must say. The terrocafteri was of perfect consistancy although could have used a bit more feta cheese. My salad was also ver fresh and had a great dressing. All and all one of the better greek resturants in the area. I’m looking forward to returning again.

I visited this restaurant for the first time and enjoyed my experience — the food is reasonably priced and delicious. During my lunchtime visit, the staff was very attentive and the food brought out in a timely manner. I’d like to try it again during dinner service. I had a salad and the feta appetizer, both which I enjoyed. Next time, I will need to try some of the gyros so I can provide a more accurate«greek» review.

Odyssey is located right on North Ave., well almost… you have to get off on a «frontage» road to get to it. They have a small private parking lot. I have never been when it is really busy, so I always find a spot. The layout is mostly wide open with a high ceiling. A little warehouse like even. The semi-open kitchen is along the left wall. The bar is along the right wall and the main dining room is in the middle. I have never sat in the bar during my visits because I come to Odyssey for the food. I have always been seated immediately, so no reason to be in the bar. The service has been fair to good. I think sometimes they are caught be surprise and are understaffed. The Greek waiter is difficult for my American ears to understand, but he does a good job of taking care of me. They start you off with a basket of delicious, warm, fluffy bread that is already sliced.(Other Greek places need to take note of this as I have been served just the opposite.) The olive oil on the table is very flavorful and perfect with the bread. I usually have a bottle of wine on the lower end of the price scale. The roditas goes well with the food. There is no decent beer at this place. Every meal I have eaten at Odyssey has been very good. They come with soup or salad and the portions are generous. The prices are about average for the area and style of food. On my most recent visit I had the Odyssey combo with lamb chops and stuffed chicken breast. I would definitely get it again. Overall, I like this place although I don’t often think of going out for Greek food. When I do, it is nice to know that Odyssey is only about 20 minutes from my house.

This place has such a nice ambiance and the food is authentic and delicious. The lunch special is great deal and alot of options that are all good. And their desserts are all homemade and great. The service is excellent and the owner there is so friendly and welcoming. Makes you want to go back. Recommendations are the saganaki appetizer, lamb riblet, pork wrap entrée and the baklava dessert. These are my favorites.

Awesome, fun, modern, and delicious. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I found out there was a great Greek restaurant a short drive from our home. It’s on a frontage road, so it’s a little tricky to get to, but it’s visible from Rt 64 and worth the trip! The melatzanasalata was delicious with the crunchy bread. Delicious vegetarian moussaka was chock-full of veggies and came with a Greek potato wedge – perfectly accompanied by a glass of the white(they also have a blush) makedonikos. The braised lamb was succulent and aromatic and perfectly accompanied by a Hillas beer. The baklava was delicious and crunchy, and the rice pudding was zesty. Count on our many return visits!
