Who doesn’t love a block party where you can drink wine and eat delicious food!!! We were lucky enough to be in St. Helena for the last Friday they were hosting CHEERS! For those of you not familiar with this crazy fun tradition, Cheers is the first Friday of each month during the summer months. For a fee(I don’t remember how much it was specifically — it was reasonable), you get a wristband and a cup that you can check out all of the shops in downtown St. Helena and receive pours of wine from the local wineries. In one of the open lots — you can order freshly made pizza and other fancier food fare(for an additional cost). In this same lot, the local wine guild was pouring a variety of wines from local wineries that are members. We connected with some of the locals who steered us into the right decisions for tasting some of the $ 100−200+ bottles of wine, which are obviously some of the first to go! This is a great street fair, where you can sample a variety of local wineries wines and also check out some of the cool shops in downtown St. Helena. AND — in one of the stores, Olivers?,(kind of like a Williams Sonoma), they had AMAZINGLYDELICIOUS appetizers that you could sample along with the local wine that was being poured in their shop. Even though the locals complain about the noise and ruckus that occurs with cheers every month, I thought it was a great way to enjoy their small and quaint little town. As a newby to their town, I was given the opportunity to check out a lot of stores I would never have thought to check out on my own! Thanks St. Helena for giving us such a great experience!

Went here last Friday and I was blown away with a lot of awesome wines and truffles. There were a few that were not really good, but I totally loved Woodhouse and Olivier. They’re the best when it comes to chocolate, cheese and other finger food items to go with the reds and whites. It was my first time attending this event and it’s one of my favorite events now. I wish I had more time on hand. I wasn’t able to visit all the stores. There’s always next year.

Cheers! St. Helena occurs every first Friday during the summer months(May — October) from 6−9pm where a few blocks of Main Street are blocked off. Here, the shops are open later than usual and various wineries set up tastings inside the different shops. For $ 35, you get unlimited tasting! It’s so fun to just sip on wine and browse through stationary/jewelry/clothing shops, as well as art galleries. Some wineries even offer little snacks like bruschetta, crackers, olives and cheese. There are also food vendors for those who want to buy a meal, musicians and magicians. Everyone member of your family will have a great time here. However, I do suggest arriving earlier. Around 830pm, some of the wineries ran out of wine.
