After an absolutely terrible experience with Sears, waiting for over 6 weeks for a working treadmill,(2 delivered but neither one worked) I decided to go local. Went to the 2nd Wind store on 394, picked out a treadmill, did a bit of haggling with the price and set up delivery. The delivery guys were great. Experienced, funny, fast and on time. Treadmill is great. After the Sears experience, what a lovely change. Everybody in the 2nd Wind experience knew their jobs and did it with excellence.

I picked up an Octane Elliptical from 2nd Wind. I compared a lot of online pricing, and found the pricing to be spot-on competitive, and I chose to have local guys deliver it, vs it being delivered by random freight from some national online company. We had the chance to inspect it upon shipment and the guys did an amazing job navigating a stairwell without incident.((So glad I didn’t try this with a few buddies.)) 2nd W’s equipment costs more than the bigbox stores, but it’s worth it. I’ve been able to re-sell a top notch treadmill from them. Most of the 2nd Wind sales reps seem to be fitness gurus who know their equipment.

As I mentioned yesterday, we have our dog back from a month long obedience training in St Peter. And she’s doing fabulous. While down there, she did part of her training on a treadmill. Very Dog Whisperer. Turns out she loved it. She smiled and wagged her tail while she jogged at 6.5 miles per hour on a decent incline. Trainer said its a great way to add extra conditioning, and with the winter and baby quickly approaching, it would probably be a wise investment. My mother has a treadmill, which I’ve never seen her use with the exception to hang ironing on, and I had my eye on it. She told us we could borrow it. Borrow seemed temporary and considering this was going to become part of Charlotte’s daily routine, we didn’t think«borrow» seemed long enough, so we stopped by 2nd wind to take a look at a used treadmill. Nice, clean store. Staff was friendly. They seemed to offer a great deal of equipment as well, from free weights to bosus to elipticals and so on. As we walked down treadmill row, we were shocked at how much these things cost… used. We’re talking about 600 to 1200! Used! New, they were in the 2 to 4 k. Crazy! Who knew? Not us. We decided to «borrow» the treadmill after all and hope that my mom finds another place to hang her ironing.
