We had an AWESOME experience at Tangles! My daughter, the bride, maid of honor, brides maids and I were extremely happy with our experience and results. They did everything just right!

I’ve been going to Melissa Schuft for years. I’ve followed her from the last 2 salons and I’m so glad she finally has her own place, it’s fantastic! My bar has been raised– I wouldn’t dare go anywhere else.

I didn’t love this place, but didn’t hate it either. If you’re looking for something hip/trendy, this isn’t your spot — definitely more of a suburban feel. That said, the décor was charming and everyone who worked there was friendly. The gal who did my hair was incredibly sweet and I was happy with the way it turned out. My only complaint was a technique she used that I thought was quite odd — she painted my forehead with hair dye before beginning to foil it. Yes, you heard that right. I’m assuming it was to get the foils to stick down, but seemed completely unnecessary and potentially harmful. I mean, I get that the dye probably gets on your scalp anyways during the process, but purposefully coating my forehead in those toxins? No thanks. Sadly, that’s the only reason I won’t be going back. **update: stylist contacted me and explained process I misunderstood(above). The coating on my forehead was a cholesterol cream(like a conditioner) with no harmful toxins like dye. It was to keep the foils in place. That makes me feel better and so nice of her to reach out!

Tonight I had the pleasure of visiting my favorite hairstylist, Amanda Kist, and I left with nothing less than PERFECT hair! If you are looking for a new cut, color, style, or just some relaxing«pampering» time then this is the place to go. Never have I felt more comfortable with a stylist at a salon. Each and every time I go see Amanda I leave with a hairstyle that I love. I truly believe that her continued training enables her to give her clients the best service possible, and shows just how passionate she is about her profession. My hair will forever be left in her hands :)

Tangles and Co is very different than most salons I’ve been to. The way I understand it is that each hair stylist works like an independent contractor and they all share this common studio with a central scheduling and payment system. I get the feeling that the employees are cheerier here than other salons I’ve been to in the past because they are not standing around all day waiting for a walk-in. The downside is that because they don’t have a manager enforcing a schedule, they might have a lighter schedule. The woman I see, for example, is a new mom so she is working two days a week. Great for her and not a problem for me when I’m not procrastinating, which I can’t say I’m the best at all the time. The general feeling here is warm and welcome. It’s a cute space with local art and they will offer you a warm drink so you are nice and cozy while you are getting your hair done. I’m not the kind of girl that wants a premium, ultra spa like experience when I’m getting my hair cut, so this sort of homey atmosphere is just right for me. I want to come out feeling fresh and pretty and hopefully not broke and Tangles and Co hits all these marks. I see Nichole and she’s a sweetheart, but everyone I’ve met there has been super friendly, I don’t think you can go wrong.

I have been a customer of Tangles’ owner Melissa Schuft for over 10 years, because she knows how to cut hair! I am a curly girl, and Melissa knows all about how to make my ringlets bounce in new and interesting ways. I can’t imagine going anywhere else for my regular cuts. Melissa takes the time to understand how your hair works, and what would look best on you. She has a lot of experience cutting curly hair, and understands the nuances that come with curls. In addition, Melissa is a great brow waxer– she knows how to tidy up my face without making the change look drastic(if that’s what you’re going for). I have also had Melissa do my highlights on-and-off throughout the years. Also, I have to say that I love her Salon. The location is very convenient to Highway 394.(I live over 25 miles from her Salon, and I *still* go to see Melissa). The interior is well styled– it has a comfy-cozy yet minimalist warehousey feel to it. They have local artists on display, and sometimes host parties for clients. Botox party, anyone?
