That was nice! I had the cashew, loved it. Just As I like it. My boyfriend had fried Rice with chicken, also good. The food came fast! Would come back, but I am on holiday.

The sushi here is average, but the service is abysmal. I made an online order for delivery. I received a confirmation screen. An hour later I called to check on it, and they said they never got it, and they don’t do delivery for lunch. I was understandably upset and instead of apologizing, the woman on the phone was extremely nasty and rude. I spend a lot of money at this establishment, but I will not be doing so again.

Big disappointment. The Pad Thai was bland and way over priced. The sushi roll ordered did not match the description on the menu and was also overpriced. Grocery store sushi has this place beat. We will not return.

Such a shame to watch a first class place go downhill. New menu very focused on beverages Mediocre food Terrible service These people who own the restaurant either have never been to an Asian country or just assume their clientele is low class & doesn’t know about the very nuanced and lovely service over there! They provide no dinner dishes to eat on No serving utensils even when requested Very forgetful about bringing ordered food This is becoming fast-food style food court The fresh home cooked touch is gone

I have never been so hostile to a restaurant like this before. But justice must be served. Especially when cold. I will do best to give you my experience and help you to make a better choice. While dining out on vacation, my friends and I couldn’t resist grabbing some sushi and Thai! The little restaurant was right across from our hotel and everyone was ready for a good meal! I, the real foodie out of the group, decided to splurge on this meal. I am very passionate about Thai and Asian food and it was our last night. Unfortunately, that was a big mistake. The night started on a happy note as our waitress was gingerly taking our orders. I ordered a classic iced Thai tea. That was sadly the only good thing I had. Next, the disappointment started. I had two appetizers: –Shu Mai –Calamari Fries The Shu Mai(small dumplings) were not cooked properly and the sauce that came with it was, I hope, the wrong sauce; because the two went together as well as oil and water. The dough was weak and the interior was cold. Now go to any Asian food lover and he will tell you that dumplings(besides a few special ones) should never be cold. Next up was the calamari fries. Now if it’s one thing that I love, it is fried calamari. I love how when you bite down into the crunchy breaded outer layer, the steam from the chewy inside calamari wafts up into your mouth and the hot fresh, sizzling meat makes your mouth begin to water. This was not the case. The ‘fries’ were not hot but room temperature and the calamari was bland and unseasoned. Worst of all was the dip they had with it. It was sesame dressing that I’m pretty sure they bought from a local superstore in a bottle. For my main course I went classic and had: –Red Curry(Shrimp) By this point I was very underwhelmed. I put down my camera, hopingI wouldn’t jinx myself again with bad food. I made a note to complain to my friend next to me, who was trying the sushi(which was actually decent) and told her how underwhelming the appetizers had been. I marched my chopsticks into battle and threw my rice in the curry, and added some requested hot oil(which was hot but not as flavorful). I bent over and picked out one of each item starting with the shrimp. Weak. Then the vegetables, bland. Then loudly sipped the sauce. Just average. And looked up to see that there was no steam rolling up from the plate. I had the curry for 1 minute and it wasn’t even hot. The blandness of the ingredients had me asking myself if they just threw the shrimp and veggies in at the last second and microwaved it on high for 30 seconds. It was not a fun night as I finished it and scrapped the last few quarters out of my vacation piggy bank for a meal that was sub par. And that is an overstatement. Footnote: I did notice that the main theme of be place was sushi and trying the different sushi I can say that it was okay. But if your looking for a good variation of Asian cuisine, dine somewhere else.

First time here. Was a little skeptical about this place coming from the reviews, but the food was good. Service was terrible, waitresses are not very friendly, but worth coming here for the food. Would come again for the food– maybe take it to go? Cucumber rolls are very good!

I heard nothing but good reviews of the Basil Leaf during my trip to St. Petersburg so we tried it out one night! We checked online to make sure it was open and it said it would be open for another hour so we went in. When we got there the man told us to sit down wherever we wanted. When we chose a table to sit at a young lady came up to us and told us they were closed and we had to leave. The next night we tried ordering delivery from there but we didn’t realize they had a 3 mile delivery range and we were 5 miles so we asked politely if we could pay extra for the delivery and they rudely said they couldn’t do it. At the end of our stay we gave them one more shot and went for lunch. The food was just okay and the service wasn’t any better. I wouldn’t visit there again.

Fantastic sushi! We’re NYC transplants and always have a hard time finding authentic food. We went in there with my parents, who don’t know too much about sushi, and had a great time. The rolls that they brought out were super fresh and could give anyone in Brooklyn a run for their money. Great staff and the Sushi chef made us a few specialized rolls. The Thai dishes were nice but pretty average. They were fresh and tasty but the sushi stole the show.

Phenomenal sushi! We are sushi snobs and absolutely loved it. The Blondie roll is a must. Staff was very friendly. You will not be impressed with the exterior. Try not to judge the book by its cover!

I have received delivery from here once before while in St. Pete. The first order was perfect. Today is new year’s day, so I expected the delivery to my hotel across the street to be a little delayed. I placed my order online, waited the 5 minutes to hear back, and called to pay and confirm my order. The waitress received the fax with my oder while I was on the phone. I paid and hung up. One hour later, I called and was told the order was on its way. I am patient so I waited more. Another 30 minutes later and the food finally arrived. I was famished and a little irritated. Upon inspection, I found that somehow even though I ordered online, my order was all wrong. I was charged for 2 expensive sushi rolls instead of one(it added another $ 15 to the bill!), and the spiciness of one of my dishes was wayyyy too hot. The spice was so intense I couldn’t taste the food. It was a strange powder versus the chili’s I am used to having, so the abundance of the powder ruined the flavor of the dish. I am guessing they take the fax and enter it into the computer manually. Bad experience for the second time ordering here.

Sehr freundliches Personal.

Uneven service, uneven food. The meals came out in some random order. We received apps and mains in some seemingly random order. Apps then mains then more apps then more mains, etc. Really threw off the flow of the meal. The décor is dated. The restaurant may be clean, but it simply doesn’t feel clean as it’s in major need of a face lift. Like all too many Asian restaurants, they’re trying to serve Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Sushi, etc. All of them are adequate, but none of them particularly excel. There’s better food to be had in this area. There’s certainly better service. This is not a place I’ll be rushing back to.

The best Thai food here! We’ve never eaten inside but it looks so fun and trendy! The Jalapeño tuna roll is he bomb… and the pad Thai you can’t beat!!! Don’t hesitate trust me. It’s super yummy!

I walked a few minutes from the Trade Winds hotel to this lovely little Thai restaurant and was immediately greeted with not only the flavors of Thailand but also with a young lady’s smile and welcome. I looked over the simple menu and quickly saw the variety of both Japanese sushi, Chinese and Thai cuisine choices. I stuck with my Thai favorites and asked the waitress what their chef does the best. She recommended for my appetizer a lovely fresh Thai spring roll which they don’t call a spring roll; rather, they call it a rice paper wrap. I opted for the tofu version. It came with peanut sauce which I needed extra. No charge for extra peanut sauce. My main meal I asked which they would do better, Masman Curry or Khol Soi Yellow Curry dish. She immediately said to go with the Khol Soi. I opted for the chicken as my protein. It came in all of its glory. Soft noodles inside a yellow curry soup mixture with crunchy egg noodles on top. I have had this dish many times so I knew you must eat it with the curry broth which is why you get a spoon with the meal. The broth was rich in flavors. I enjoyed my entire meal.

At first glance, from the outside the place isn’t the fanciest but most Asian restaurants aren’t. There isn’t that much parking but we took über to get there so that wasn’t a problem. When we walked in we had to wait for the hostess to seat us because she was doing waitressing duties too, which was fine the wait was like a whole 4 mins. There were three servers and hey all seemed to tend on every table as they walked by. We sat at a table next to the sushi bar– so I got to watch them make sushi while we waited, which was entertaining The portions were huge, I was surprised. I wanted to try lots of stuff on the menu but since we are here on vacation I can’t take my left overs home so my fiancé and I just ordered two dishes. My fiancé had the garlic sauce stir fry with chicken. It was good, typical Thai stir fry. They served him first because it came out first. I waited about 5 mins before I got my pad sa eew, which was fine. I’m not too set on the table being served all together as long as it is within a reasonable time. My pad sa eww with chicken was great, it had lots of flavor. I should have ordered it spicy but I didn’t because I thought my fiancé was going to try some of my dish. His meal was so large that he was trying to finish his dish. I really can’t say it was an experience because we were in and out so fast but I would go there again if I were in st Petersburg. I wish they would have had papaya salad though because that was what I was craving.

Slow, slow, slow! If the staff had been any slower, they would have been moving backwards. We ordered two entrees — one came out more than ten minutes after the first. The Pad Thai was tasteless and a gelatinous solid glob — of noddles? Red curry was watery, and also tasteless — chicken was rubbery and tough. Crab Rangoon imitation was burnt with blackened wanton edges. Inedible food with dreadful service — you can easily find better on the beach.

The Thai coffee was amazing and of coarse the Post Card Inn is across the street and that beautiful beach so this is a great spot to hit up for lunch or dinner. I had some udon with tempura and it hit the spot. The menu is pretty extensive and there is quite a bit to choose from The reason for the three stars is that there was a huge TV behind my wife, in front of me and it was freaking out the whole time we were there. Blinking cow in a snowstorm, it made me crazy. Just shut it off. And the need to update the décor. Besides that. Good spot for some lunchtime munchies.

It’s was okay, the service was kind of slow and their was a little fly on my food. Which makes me think the kitchen wasn’t that clean. It wasn’t a big fly, it was a little fruit fly. The table was kind of dirty and the floor was dirty. The food did taste good. Their Thai tea was delicious. My sister had one of the soups and it was too salty to finish. I probably won’t go back there.

What happened to this place? Food quality and service has been on decline my last 2 visits. Service: consists of 20 something’s totally engrossed in there smartphones. As we walked in some guy sprawled out in a chair close to the door immersed in his phone(without looking up to acknowledge us) yelled out to the gaggle of servers to seat us.(place was empty by the way). Server friendly enough. Food; Appetizer shrimp/vegetable tempura: overfried, tasted rancid,(don’t think they change the oil in the fryer) vegetables appeared to be spoiled). Should of left then. Server advised, apologies given, taken off the check without incident Panang chicken curry meh Limited chicken, more green beans than anything else Pad Thai noodles under cooked and was a complete oil slick. Very disappointed, their sister Lemon Grass located downtown St Pete food and sushi always consistently on point. My guess, management more focused on Lemon Grass location than Basil Leaf. Feedback for owners. More adult supervision at your St Pete beach location. We will not be back. So disappointed… no Thai options beach close.

Parking can be a little bit of a challenge during dinner rush considering the restaurant is a fairly decent size inside but there are only about 15 to 20 spaces. Outside of that, it’s easy to find a space and service has been reasonably quick when I’ve visited. They do have a small bar you can sit at if you don’t need a table. Inside, it’s like many Thai restaurants. If you’re a fan of Thai food, I’m sure you’ve seen places like this; little trinkets or decorations everywhere, seems to be family run, little grit and grime around the edges but not enough that it bothers you if the food is great, excellent service and gracious servers. They’re also open reasonably late for a beach restaurant. They do not have liquor, but do have beer and wine. Food-wise, excellent. I’ve had the ginger salad which was crisp and fresh, not overloaded with dressing. I’ve had the unagi(eel) sushi rolls; these I’m not as much of a fan of as I’m used to unagi being served on top of rice, not inside the roll. There was nothing wrong with the taste, I just like the unagi to rice ratio to be much more eel. The Tom Yum Gai soup(chicken soup with chili paste, lemon juice, mushroom, lemongrass, scallion and cilantro) is excellent. Finally, my fav, Chicken Panang Curry; that’s pretty much how I judge one Thai place to the next and theirs is excellent. It comes out with the rice on the side so you can mix in what you want. It’s not particularly spicy but they will happily bring you the spice tray so you can kick it up. Will definitely be back.
