Tradewinds Meetings and Weddings

Nice facility. Plenty of meeting rooms. Great energy cause there are always lots of people around.
Last time I was here for a meeting the room felt like it was about 60 degrees. I inquired about making it warmer and nothing happened.

I got married here and I’m a huge fan! I’ve always loved this resort, it’s fun and laid back and beachy. If you’re looking for a black tie event. This isn’t your place. I LOVE that there’s no minimums or rental fees here. Their price per plate is very reasonable. The staff was fantastic and my wedding day was seamless. We had a wonderful wedding here and I look forward to visiting for our anniversary in the future.

I commend Tradewinds for updating an old resort as best they could without replacing all of the buildings. Thus as others have pointed out some of the resort looks dated while other parts such as the pool areas and grounds look new and well maintained.
The air conditioning and plumbing make more noise than at some other hotels where I have stayed. The grounds and public areas are kept clean and quite pretty… swans and peddle boats are a nice touch… Beware that the wireless Internet slows way down when a lot of people are using it.
I came here for a conference and because the bill was paid for by my employer, I can’t comment on the room prices (but the suggestion by Christina F. to use Priceline is a good idea) but as with many hotels, the General Store and restaurants are way overpriced (there is a decent diner across the street).
The food they served for breakfast and lunch to the conference attendees was pretty good considering they were serving about 600 people.
But most impressive is the friendliness of nearly the entire staff… I don’t know if it is «Southern hospitality», good training or a combination of both but it is the resort’s most valuable asset and was greatly appreciated!

We are here right now. I am writing a review because:
Night 3 of … Sorry the on command system (TV) to order anything is currently unavailable. Please try again in a few minutes. Night 1 they said someone would show us how to work remote — - day two someone would come and fix it. We finally went to the desk last night, to find they would have to wait for the cable company to come. I guess they are still waiting for the cable company to come. All the restrooms to the pool areas were a mess, and this was during the week before it was crowded. Went to get pool towels, he pulled damp towels out of a bin, not folded just balled up and handed them to us. I wasn’t even sure if they were clean. I stay at four star resorts all over. I also live in Scottsdale Az, I just stayed at the Del Coronado. That place was dated but it was clean and beautiful. If you had a problem it was resolved. Not here. I would give it three stars if we could have ordered a movie. Won’t be back… I can’t believe they have people running around trying to sell time shares here, Fix the place first.

Hotel rooms need an upgrade. Amenities were nice. Pools were good. Slide was fun!

Hotel has some nice amenities and generally nice. Rooms have been updated, but complex looks a little dated yet well maintained. The grounds has a lot to do for adults and kids (lots of pools, paddle boats, mini golf, beach, etc.)
The staff were great. All were friendly (seriously everyone). Went out of their way to help out.
Food on site was ok and overpriced (but you pay for the convenience). Drink selection was pretty good around the pools.

If you are use to a starwood or mariott hotel, you will be completely dissatisfied with this hotel. If you are ok with a kid friendly hotel with sub par housekeeping and a remade hotel that is just ok, then this hotel will be ok. There is not much in St. Petes Beach besides the Don Cesar Hotel. We stayed there the last night and it was much better than our experience at the TradeWinds Island Grand. Staff is friendly in the bar and restaurants. The housekeeping will clean your room in the late afternoon. My brother and his family did not have their room cleaned the entire 4 nights. The wi fi is great, which is included in the $ 25 a day fee.

I know this will be the last time I stay with the Tradewinds hotels. The last time I stayed with their smaller resort the Sand Piper, that was a bad stay and this time I decided to stay at their bigger resort the Island Grand hopefully allowing me to have a better stay.
Where should I begin? Let’s start with the price. Location on the beach shouldn’t give you the right to charge Thur the nose. On top of over charging for a simple room they charge and extra $ 25 dollars per day for what they call «amenities» resort fees which is explained with:
Many incidental and a la ca rte charges have been eliminated and those amenities are now included in the required nightly resort amenity fee. The fee covers paddle boats along the meandering waterway, tennis court times, fitness center use, one parking pass and one cushioned beach cabana per room, guest room wireless Internet access, and more. Of course, daily newspaper delivery, in-​room safes and pool towels as well as the Use of business center Faxes, local phone calls and phone access charges. One cushioned beach cabana for two with hood, Day play for beach volleyball and mini golf, Beach games like paddle ball, boccie ball, corn hole and horseshoes
I don’t play tennis, I didn’t use the gym, wireless service was horrible and kept losing connection, I didn’t read the newspaper. didn’t use the safe, the towels were included but were quick to charge me 30 dollars at check out in case I didn’t return them. Which I held onto the same towels. Didn’t play volley ball or any other beach games. Parked one car. Used one cabana one day. You see why I am annoyed with this resort and their fees
Positives: The front desk was very helpful and friendly, the room was clean and everything worked and are room was always comfortable. Décor was beautiful and well decorated.
Negatives: As listed above, a lot of activity going on, (tons of kids), weddings, business meetings, and events. Not a quiet resort at all.
At the end of this trip I spent $ 1,700 for 7 days 6 night, basic room, nothing special, no ocean view, nothing. Plus whatever I spent on food and drinks. They over charge for everything in the mini bar. I had one snickers bar at 4.90 for one regular bar. Deli downstairs in the lobby charged me 12 dollars for a bottle of water and a BLT roll. Red bulls were priced at almost $ 5 dollars each. Grand total over $ 2,200 for St Pete Beach Florida. You def don’t get value here. I do make a good living, but I am also careful on how I spend my money. This is not worth the money. The Howard Johnson down the street is also on the beach and they give you free breakfast every morning!
Never again.

This place is great. The staff is awesome. It can get a little crazy b/​c it’s so big but if you use some common sense you will be fine.

I totally thought I already wrote a review of this place. Apparently only in my mind. Have been here a few times, always on Priceline, always less than half of what the regular rate is, so keep that in mind. Had I paid $ 150+ for this place, opinions may have varied. The resort fee ($ 25) is annoying, and steep, but keep in mind at another hotel your going to pay $ 15 to park and $ 12 for wi-​fi, and $ 15 for a Cabana and on and on… so really you would most likely spend it anyway. I still hate it, and it sucks, but it really is worth it (They actually hand out propaganda about this too) I still have not gone and rented the free paddle boats that said Resort Fee includes, but I will one day.
Nice Suites, kind of small, but very bright colors, very clean, and I love having a little kitchen (full fridge, micro, two burner stove). Balconies overlook pool or beach, or better yet, get a ground floor for a patio that walks right out to the Spa.
Resort is pretty, lots of pools, and gardens, and stuff to do. In the summer it is very much a land cruise, with scheduled activities all day long, and a variety of restaurants and bars. Last week, its off season, and much quieter, but the pools are warm, and its still nice to ay in the hammocks they have set up all along the beach entry at night… just remember that there is a webcam watching you there.
All in all I really like the property and will be back.
