This place is blocks from our house. We’ve eaten here 5 – 6 times in the past 4 – 5 months. We do want to love it but always walk away unimpressed. Service is good, beer interesting, good just unremarkable

Being a low carb guy, I have tried naked wings at many, MANY establishments. I have to honestly say, there isn’t a better naked hot wing than the 5 pepper wings served here. Will definitely return to try some of their other fare, which by all appearances, is just as outstanding. Service was awesome!

This was my first visit but won’t be my last! I loved every minute from the food to the atmosphere(watched a football game with the family on a Sunday afternoon) to the staff. Everyone helped us understand what would be best for us to eat depending on what we were looking for and even sold us some of their AMAZING beer cheese sauce. Every dish we ate was tasty, well-made and didn’t taste like so many other restaurant’s food that is just reheated or fixed without thought. Very happy we made the stop. Waitress took time to talk to us and not rush us out which was a pleasant change. Even other staff came by to talk with us. Definitely a place that deserves your patronage. We had a variety of burgers, a wrap, a bratwurst horseshoe, fried pickles and beer cheese with pretzels at our table. Heaven!

Not much of a pub feel, although the food is decent. They finally fixed the short barstool problem, but you can’t shake the feeling of being in a VFW hall.

Great Irish bar. After coming here several times I cannot think of a bad experience. Food is always good and service seems to be responsive and friendly.

My niece and I had a great Sunday Funday here even though the Ram’s lost. We had the Irish Nachos and they were really tasty! The bartender was attentive and fun. Good place to watch the game, cold beer, good food and service, and not crowded!

I am between 4 and 5 stars on this one. Yes, it’s a bar but does it need to smell so much like my old fraternity house? Seriously, how much beer gets spilled in there? Ultimately, I decided to round up on my rating based entirely on the fact that they are just about the only ones in the greater STL area making a horseshoe… and they are making one hell of a horseshoe! You may be wondering: what is a horseshoe? Why should I care about their horseshoes? Why is this guy so obsessed about those things? In short, it is a heart attack on a plate. Maybe a better description is that this dish has put countless children of an unknown number of cardiac surgeons through college. It originated in Springfield, Illinois and can rarely be found more than 100 miles away from its’ birthplace. If you spend enough time in that area you will discover that you have a favorite combination as well as a favorite place. Sometimes, you’ll even be in the mood for a different place just because you are craving their interpretation over your regular haunt. Putting this into a more local context, the ‘shoe is to Central Illinois what t-ravs are to STL. A horseshoe is as easy as 5 steps: 1. Texas toast goes on the plate. 2. Your choice of meat goes on top of the Texas toast. 3. Fries are piled on top of the meat. 4. Cheese sauce is poured over everything — not too much and not too little. 5. Enjoy! This dish actually should not be mistaken for simple. Getting whatever meat(personal favorites are hamburger or buffalo chicken) exactly right is really important. Making the cheese sauce can be something of an art and good places ONLY serve a cheese sauce they make in-house. Finally, the kitchen and the server need to be in sync to ensure a table’s worth of shoes are constructed properly and delivered promptly. This is not a «to-go» item by any stretch of the imagination. These guys paired beautifully seasoned meat with a perfect charcoal flavor to create an ideal burger patty. The fries were slightly crunchy on the outside and airy on the inside. The cheese sauce had a bit of a beer flavor mixed in with the creamy blend of cheeses that seemed to elevate the dish. Also, they got the«not too much, not too little» thing exactly right. Note: most places offer a smaller version of the horseshoe called a ponyshoe and they generally cost a couple of bucks less. In Central Illinois, you get half as much of the protein and about the same amount of fries and cheese sauce. At this place, you really are getting half the dish. This caught me by surprise.

The server was great and the choices of beer were generous. However, the prices were a bit on the«do we really want to return» side.

Amazing layout. Incredible food. Kelly is, easily, the best bartender around! He has a great personality and a fast paced work ethic! The new food menu is awesome! So many more choices than before!

I was at a seminar all day and one of the attendees suggested we go here afterwards. It was already 7:00 pm, so I was really hungry. Fortunately, we had a wonderful server, our food was delivered before we knew it, and I made a delicious choice – the blackened chicken pasta. I would certainly order it again. Generous portion, and significantly spicy but not too spicy. Some spices left on the side for an attractive presentation(photo) so you can essentially add more if you want. Pasta cooked perfectly, and excellent flavor! I prefer restaurants that are pretty :) and this one is more the sports bar – nothing wrong with that; it’s just a personal preference.

Went for lunch and loved it! I had a buffalo chicken wrap — so tasty and chock full of chicken and greens! Delicious. Others in my party had Mac and Cheese(I had a taste — best I ever tasted)…another had a chili braut on a pretzel roll — oh my — yum! And God bless them they gave us a 10% discount since one of us served in military. Thanks! Def a great place to eat and drink.

Food was just ok. Yes, just ok. I would consider it bar food only. I had a burger that was very bland and the server was shocked when I told her it was devoid of flavor. However, a big however, she was more than cooperative in as far as their beers available from an iPad. Very receptive on all of all beer flavors that were available. In other words very attentive service. I give this 3 stars based upon service only. And the beers.

Service here was excellent. This is a very clean restaurant. The pretzels with the beer cheese was amazing. Pony horseshoe(with ham) was very good.

Amazing place. Always has been, even after the fire. I’ve been coming here for years with my friends. It was really nice because I could spend time with them without being ID(I was under 21 at the time). Also, the lack of noise(with the exception of trivia night) is very nice. It makes having conversations nice. I love the food and drinks. My friend and I love to split the irish nachos. We think that is one of the best things on the menu. Some of the other options are really good too. I can’t wait to go back.

Nice clean place. Bigger than what you’d expect a bar/restaurant to be. Food is really good and wait staff is well trained. We’ve had a variety of selections and most happy with them all. Live music on weekend nights and the size of the place helps to keep the volume at a decent level.

This is one of my favorite places to eat a good lunch with vendors or when others are paying. Not that I wouldn’t go there and pay I just enjoy a free lunch. Anyways the food is always excellent and the service is really good, at least what I have experienced. They are always quick to fill you drink. The buffet is affordable and really good, except when you go with friends that grab all the pretzles and beer cheese before you can get any. I love that they offer a good salad on the buffet and some sandwich options. I like the pub sandwich with house made chips and chips also the Beast LT and Turkey melt is excellent. I am so glad they recovered from the fire they had a while back but I miss there Lunch Punch program. Great food and great service brings me back every time.

Decided to try this place after a recommendation from a fellow Unilocaler. Sean and I stepped in at around 8pm on a Thursday night. I saw from their website that they had karaōke on Thursdays and it is also Ladies’ Night(never really understood those things, lol.) Also read up on their menu and saw that they had dessert martinis. Oooh, sounds good. So did the beer flights. So anyway we arrived and there was literally no one at the host(ess) stand to seat us. We waited about 5 minutes and still no one. So we were like whatever and decided to pick a random seat. I also had to get up, go back, and grab menus. LOL so awkward. I happened to be wearing all black so I kind of looked like a hostess. More awkwarddd. But whatever. Eventually a random waitress saw us and asked us what drinks we wanted. I ordered a beer flight. It’s cool that you pretty much get to pick whatever beers you want in your flight from their menu, up to 4. And the flight costs $ 7.00. So I guess that’s about $ 1.75 per little beer. I tried an apricot beer, two different pumpkin beers, and an oatmeal stout. The apricot was my favorite by far although the others weren’t bad. I always get excited to try new beers. I ordered the wee burgers which weren’t really so «wee»…because you get four of them. So it’s kind of a lot of food but I guess you are supposed to share it. Sean ordered a chicken sandwich with fries and an extra side of slaw. He seemed happy that their slaw is not vinegar-based but mayo-based. He loves creamy slaw like the kind they serve at Blue’s City. I tried some and I determined it was a bit too sweet for my liking. He said it was alright but he wouldn’t order it again. My only gripe besides not being seated and hardly any water refills was how long it took for our food to come out. It was kind of a while. But the karaōke was entertaining and I was not super starved so it wasn’t much of a big deal. But if I was starved I would have been pretty pissed. The food, however, was pretty good. The burgers were thick and juicy. The buns were plump and buttered as well as slightly toasted, mmm. No Heinz ketchup but oh well. I lived! Service here was more like 3 stars for me but the food and drinks were about 4⁄5. Plus there was«entertainment» so to speak(the singers were all actually really freaking good!) so I gave them 4⁄5. Close to where I live so we will likely be back. ALSO almost forgot, I got peanut butter cup pie to go. They do not make it in-house. But who cares? It was that good. :D
