J.CON Salon at Gateway

I blindly had my hair done by Addison yesterday, she did a superior style & cut! I used to go to the other J Con down the street but my stylist moved to Palm Harbor. I called J Con to be matched with a new stylist for long hair and to my relief I met Addison. Addison has short, colored hair so I’m sure she specializes in all types of hair.
She educated me of natural make up products sold by Aveda (and hair products). She wasn’t pushy trying to make a sale, she was simply answering my questions and making sure I was going to buy the right product for my needs. The products she was recommending she uses as well. Addison was very knowledgeable of the natural products and the sources where they come from. To some the Aveda products may seem a little pricey compared to Target but the products come from sustainable resources!
Additionally, she showed me new ways to blow dry my hair for different styles. She thoroughly took time to answer my questions and went above and beyond. My hair cut & style was $ 35 without tip. I’ll be back!

One of my favorite salons. Not as reasonably priced as chain salons, but you do get what you pay for. Staff excellent and highly skilled. Customer service top notch. Always up on new trends. Great for the whole family. Been going to for years.

I am a huge fan of J.Con. I’ve been to other Aveda spas and while they’re all fairly knowledgable, none in the area offer J. Con’s level of service and friendliness. I see Tony and he is amazing at his job. I’ve referred many people to him already and they have given him glowing reviews. Definitely go if you have the opportunity.

Originally I gave 4 stars. But went for a second appointment and while I loved the stylist I was shocked to find out when getting a color I was charged an additional $ 35.00 for a shampoo and blow dry.
I’ve never been to a salon that charges extra for that.
The color alone was $ 52.00 then an additional $ 30 for a color fix not sure what that was.
In total I paid $ 117 to color my hair. Not worth the money.

I absolutely love J. Con Salon at Gateway. Master stylist Anne Burke has done my hair for the last 3 years. She’s been cutting hair for over 20 years and regular attends hair conventions. She has even taught some classes to the other stylist at the salon. Unfortunately I had to move across country and couldn’t bring her with me. Before I met her I was a plain jane hair cut only kind of girl. I’ve always had long hair and I can personally attest to her talented skills with handling my long thick hair. I started talking other about adding some color and our conversation gave me the assurance and confidence to eventually dabble with color. First we started out with some ombré effects, then the last year I went to full on highlights (partial foil type) as I became more daring. She was absolutely wonderful and listens to her customers. She leaves the conversation door wide open during the whole appointment and left nothing open to interpretation.
I strongly suggest having a consultation first so you can feel as confident with her abilities as I have.

I love getting my hair cut here! I have long hair and hair stylists always cut off way too much during maintenance trims and love putting an awkward layer about 3 inches above the end of my hair to make volume (which I absolutely hate), but Nikki is fabulous at cutting long hair! She’s able to trim off just the right amount and puts in subtle layers. I’d highly recommend making an appointment with her! :)

My daughter and I have been clients for 9 years. My daughter (now 11) sees Cam at Gateway. Cam has done a wonderful job with my daughter’s thick straight hair. This is an Aveda salon. They also offer typical Spa treatments, mani/​pedis, waxing, and massage. The salon is easy to get into. Staff are polite and professional. I love getting email reminders about appointments.

Love this new location of J Con. Much more comfortable for me than the large salon down the street– J Con at Gateway is in a smaller building with only six stations. It feels like a fresh relaxing environment for getting my hair done. So happy Jocilyn moved here too. She is so sweet and has taken the time to get to know me and my haircare routine to give me the best possible style. And she is extremely patient and understanding with my huge mess of curls! Definitely recommend J Con Salon at Gateway, and Jocilyn in particular for cut and color.
They do take walk ins, but I recommend calling ahead to schedule your appointment, especially if you want to book a specific stylist.
