The inside looks like a «hole-​in-​the-​wall dinner» set from a TV sitcom.
The food was plentiful and delicious (and CHEAP).
I had corned beef hash, two eggs, potatoes, toast, coffee, juice and it was (I think) $ 7. I read my book, had about 6 cups of coffee (it wasn’t crowded), left $ 10 and felt totally satisfied.

The line at iHop was too long so we drove around Stamford and found this place. The outside doesn’t look appealing but don’t judge it by its look. The food was great and service was great. I loved being able to watch the chef cook our food. Will definitely go there again!

Adorable hole in the wall diner that we honestly would have passed right by if it weren’t for Unilocal.It looks like a crap shoot from the outside, and parking is limited and tight, to say the least. There were also bars on the window… I only take my mom to the nicest places.
We walked in, and were greeted immediately by «Chef», aka the owner, and were sat by sweetest girl. She comes over and gives us coffee right away with a smile and «nothing like a hot cup of coffee on a freezing day!». She maintained her positive nature throughout our meal.
We opened the menu and the prices were SO cheap $ 4.50 for a burger, $ 6.00 for an omelette. Where am I? Toto, I don’t think I’m in Fairfield County anymore. Mom and I both had omelettes which were good, not great.
I would definitely come back for a mid-​week breakfast.
Cash Only! There is an ATM with a $ 2 fee.

Although the waitress was very friendly, I immediately noticed a negative energy from the owner I was in the area to deal w a passport issue and had to wait a few
intention was to order a couple of meals to be fair given my usage of their power for my laptop. However before I could evwn get to a second order, the owner started mumbling and told server to disconnect me. Really rude asshat. The food was passable but I will not give him my business again.

carga larrrrgas!!! this is the best place to eat breakfast in Stamford. reasonable prices, friendly customers and staff. Fresh bread and pretty girls. A no frills, classic diner that is fun to go to.

The chefs are great — they will pause in their open kitchen to say a quick hi to guests, letting you feel appreciated as a customer. The ambiance is a typical long building diner with about 12 – 16 booths and a long counter overlooking the kitchen area. One difficulty is the parking, back lot holds 5 cars, otherwise limited street parking. Food is standard diner fare with typical options, pricing is similar to downtown diner prices. CASH ONLY (ATM with $ 2 fee).

As an out of tower, visiting this hole in the wall was a real treat. You instantly feel like a «regular» as the straight faced chef greets you. He’s all business — which means the food is going to be awesome.
We had a friendly and attentive waitress, enjoyed watching the chef work his magic in the open kitchen, and the coffee was surprisingly good for a diner. Excellent food and a genuine «Yankee» diner experience.

Serious hidden treasure. Real people (total working class crowd). Great service (funny and friendly). So the food is really tasty… But what’s really awesome are the prices. Some of the least expensive, delicious diner food you’re gonna find in Stamford. Patronize this establishment; support them so we can all keep eating here!

Yummy! Perfect diner. Great food and cheap prices. Had grits & hash. Would go back again! Parking is horrible!!! And pretty sure there was a few bullet holes in the front door but we went during the week around 10am and had no problems. Enjoy!

This was the only diner in the Stamford area with consistently good reviews. Other places were closer, but this was worth the extra miles.
The chef looked up from what he was doing immediately as I walked in. He greeted me and invited me to sit wherever I wanted. I really appreciated it. Little things like that go along way.
I had an excellent breakfast of eggs, corn beef hash, bacon, and home fries. Cooked perfectly and delicious. I arrived starving, so I was really happy with the quick service.
I came alone today, but will definitely recommend Chef’s Diner to family & friends in Stamford!

They only take cash, but they do have an ATM.
I ordered a simple bacon, egg, cheese on a wedge with a side of home fries. Delicious!

I wanted to find a diner with good prices because generally diners are pricey averaging $ 10+ for breakfast but for less than 5 bucks you can the traditional breakfast:
eggs home fries toast coffee OJ,
What’s not to love?
