Simple straight forward breakfast menu. Loved the griddle cakes and had an egg and cheese sandwich too. Old school and awesome.

I normally don’t write reviews but I feel I have to warn any out of town travelers visiting to avoid this place at all cost. This is the worst burger and chili cheese fries I’ve ever had. The chili seems like it’s just the gunk they’ve scraped off the grill and the burger was extra crispy. The staff was friendly and all but the food was just terrible.

Since I am from California, I know a lot about diners! This place is just phenomenal! The food is hearty, huge portions and just delicious! The service is amazing! I highly recommend burgers and fries! I love the steak sandwich too! I can’t wait to get breakfast and please save room for café and dessert!!! Everyone who works here is hard working and kind! The owners are Greek American and take pride in the product and service so please this place out!

I loved coming here. Walking in it looks dated yes but it’s called ‘charm’. If you want fancy then turn around. I will come back for french toast(halla bread) and a lumberjack special. 1) Omelets don’t come with chz, its an add on. Add it on. 2) DON’T order the spanish omelette. It USED to be good. Just dont. Its a dry flat scramble and a scoop of ‘sauce’ with a couple strips of onions and maybe a pepper. The review is based on tonight: 3) Don’t order the Reuben. A flimsy slice of corned beef — kraut — and no russian dressing. Srsly. Common sense says a reuben has russian dressing. 4) Fried Chicken special was still cold in the center. Looked like a hardy portiin just learn to cook it longer. Like till its crispy, or stick ur knife into it and check. Srsly. 5) Vegetarian Wrap — no. It USED to be good. I USED to order it all the time. Was my go to dinner. Just had it today and it was ok… just plain, lacked taste, and ate half of it and gave the rest to my bf who even said«meh». 6) had the wings. They were good :) 7) would have liked more water brought to the table. If it’s empty just replace it. It wasn’t even busy. 2stars from the original 4stars. They upped the price on my salmon special as well :’(but i’ll give it a go next time. I think they changed cooks. Being a regular i do have standards. Had i been a newbie. 3.5 stars.

I used to come here all the time when i was growing up but lately the service keeps getting worse. I haven’t been there any time soon but i do remember a couple of years ago when My family and I went one morning and we barely got acknowledged. We stopped going completely after that since a waitress and even the owner/manager looked straight at us and didn’t even attend to us. Not sure if i’ll be back but that was just so disappointing.

Good old curleys. Has been around since forever. Awesome place, food is great and knowing that this place is still in stamford, is awesome. Thru blizzards and hurricanes, you guys are open and still saves me from hunting for a place for a quick bite

Ghetto loud owner, and the owner daughter is extra loud and obnoxious. She had her boyfriend in there while working, talking very loud and doing nasty stuff with him, very unprofessional. And last time, the owner ate my french fries off my plate, right on my table just because I told her that the fries were cold, she ate the fries right over me while standing up. I felt disrespected, stay away!

The people are nice here. That’s about it. This place reallyyyy needs a remodel and some new things on the menu. Also the potatoes that come with the omelets are just ew. They just cut them up in a random way and smoosh them together with no seasoning. My omelet which was supposed to be feta cheese had no cheese at all, in fact it had one random piece of pork in it.

Yes it’s old and outdated, but why does it matter? This is an old school diner. If you want higher end, then you don’t go here. The breakfast was fine, nothing spectacular, but how beautiful can you make and present scrambled eggs? The ladies there were super nice, and talked to me as if I was a regular. Good in a pinch or if you’re in the neighborhood, but don’t go out of your way.

Dingy, dusty, outdated, I can go on. This diner is stuck in time, the food was mediocre, the service as expected. However, do the waitresses need to have a meal standing with backs facing the dining area? This is totally unprofessional and somewhat disturbing, can’t they sit at a table and have a break and eat their meal? This joint screams of ghettoness, it defines the term. Please stay away, I was in a desperate situation late at night and decided to stop here on a whim sight unseen. What a grave mistake!

This is good restaurant with affordable prices. I like to order the chili cheese fries and eat breakfast here. It’s a 24 hours diner so you can eat at anytime. and the staff are great.

Some people seemed really hard on this review. Old school diner, cute as hell with great prices, fun and eclectic cast of characters both staff and customers based on the hour we were there, and pretty good food. It was late afternoon and there were a few people in the diner. All seemed to be interacting with the waitstaff and amongst themselves. We joined right in. Fun atmosphere that even resorted to my wife and the manager looking at pictures of kids, dogs and god knows what else! The waitress was eating the grilled pork chops and recommended them. They were ok 2 – 3 stars no Capitol grille but I think they were like $ 11 Decent salad made way better by adding feta dressing, mashed potatoes more than fine, and a really tasty pita bread. My wife did the pancakes, tasty home made good portion. Excellent diner coffee, and home made rice pudding with real whipped cream. Would def go back, and to be fair the fourth star is all about it being a fun throwback, rather than top notch food. Very worth trying. I will go again when we are out this way.

I always stop in on my way North or South on I-95, or if I need to stay in town before going to NYC. There’s a good reason to stop in… they remember me, and the food is plentiful, and reasonably priced. To really make your day, if you are into watching other people, go here. From top to bottom, City Officials, Cops, homeless, travellers… everybody. You should hear the stories about the fight with the city! The won… big time. If the public weren’t behind them 100%, they would have closed long ago… but this is a great place. All you high and mighty people who want a five star setting, go someplace else, get half the food at twice the price… take a hike…

This place is geniune poison. If I contract salmonella today, and end up in a rundown health clinic in Stamford, please let my family and the FDA know that I contracted this from Curly’s Diner’s breakfast.

One of the WORST dining experiences of my entire life. I created a Unilocal account just to save people from the horrible fate that is Curleys. Stopped in with some friends on our way home from NYC. This place is rundown. Took a while just to order drinks. Got handed a tiny cup of coffee by a waitress who didn’t seem like she cared. Ordered the lumberjack breakfast. Ended up being bland scrambled eggs and burnt bacon piled on top of three mediocre pancakes. I hope you don’t take piled the wrong way, portions were extremely small. Waited almost 10 minutes before I even saw our waitress. I never got syrup for my now cold pancakes. When I asked for some she replied, «That would probably help, huh?». No apology for the inconvience. Never debated dining and ditching more than this. To top it off everything was extremely overpriced. AVOIDATALLCOSTS, THISPLACEISTERRIBLE.

I am an avid Unilocaler who takes his Unilocal seriously… well, at least as seriously as any non-sociopath could be. I have been to many diners in my lifetime. I have reviewed many of those diners on Unilocal and other websites. So it is with certainty and conviction, I hereby declare to you, the reader: Curley’s Diner is the single worst diner in the state of Connecticut. I have [perhaps inexplicably] been here multiple times, and I implore you to believe me when I say that absolutely every facet of this unadulterated pile of culinary rubbish cannot possibly be any worse. –Pancakes: dry, rubbery, flavorless, physically difficult to cut through. –Burger: overcooked, charred, gross. –Waitstaff: mediocre at best, forgetful, understaffed. –Venue: unclean, old, too cramped to be cozy. –Muffin: Burnt, dry, and stale. That’s right, they found a way to ruin a toasted muffin! I mean… how is that even humanly possible? Curley’s main revenue stream, and only reason for continued existence, is the scores of drunken Stamforders who flood out of the bars at 2AM, and can’t tell the difference between good diner food and marginally-edible horsefeed. If, on the other hand, you happen to be hungry, sober, and human, avoid Curley’s with every fiber of your being.

I’m not really sure what happened to the other reviewers but my experience at Curley’s Diner was pleasant and I did not have any problems with the food. We had a long day and we didn’t feel like going anywhere too far from the hotel. I ordered The Ranger which is a New York strip steak sandwich served with an egg, french fries and a pickle on the side. The steak was cooked fine and seasoned well. I was left satisfied at the end of my meal. If you’re expecting some fancy eatery, look elsewhere. Curley’s is an old fashioned diner with booths and it’s open 24 hours so you can mosey on over any time of day or night. In my brief experience here, the dining options in Stamford are pretty limited unless you want to head into NYC. I would come back to eat here if I’m ever in the area again.
