Go here on occasion for their delicious hot and sour soup. Today I decided to order a special roll, hawaii roll and omg is it the tiniest roll I have ever seen! I thought it was a joke, a lunch special until I checked my receipt! I took a photo that I am looking on how to post, but the rolls were smaller than a quarter! I will never buy rolls from here again, a total rip off! Even Stew Leonards serves larger pieces

Ok sushi. Not NYC quality sushi but better than the Chinese food down the street. Service is ok. The fish is ok. Nothing spectacular.

So far this is my favorite Chinese food in Stamford. Large portions for your money with fresh meats and vegetables. I’ve enjoyed the General Tso’s chicken as well as chicken and cashews, etc. This is definitely my go-to Chinese food spot — plus fast delivery!

Hadn’t eaten here in over a year. Stopped in for lunch. We were seated in a booth and promptly forgotten about. No menus, no tea. After 10 minutes of trying to get the waitresses attention, we got up to leave. She said thank you come again. She was totally oblivious and didn’t seem to care about losing customers. Beware.

The crunchy tune hidden dragon roll has been my favorite for years. There have some of the most creative and delicious sushi ever!

Terrible customer service. Over two hours for delivery and they still didn’t show. I can’t even rate the food because it never came.

I never write reviews but kam pei is the worst. Every now and then I forget how rude they are and how long their delivery takes and order from here. They cannot deliver anything in under an hour. When you call to check on the status they put you on hold and just never pick back up again. They constantly forget stuff. And their sushi is not good enough to deal with any of this. Order from pretty much any other place before you order from here.

Having experienced long delivery times from other chinese food places, we decided to place a pick-up order from Kam Pei since it’s so close to our apartment. We ordered directly from their website which led us to the Eat24 app/website. It was easy to order and add in special requests like homemade spicy mustard. The pick-up time was set for 10 – 30 minutes which is a big window but the food was ready and waiting when we arrived after about 15 – 20 minutes after ordering. The gentleman who helped me very personable and friendly. We got: shrimp fried rice, chicken lo mein, crab rangoons, egg roll, BBQ spare ribs, wonton egg drop soup and General Tsao chicken We liked everything we ordered but the crab rangoons and the wonton egg drop soup. The rangoons were small, with hardly any filling. They got soggy and took on the taste of the shredded lettuce that they were packaged with. The wonton egg drop soup had chopped tomatoes in it, which was just weird to me. I’ve seen mushrooms in this kind of soup before but never tomatoes. The rest of the food was great, not as greasy /overly salted as other places we’ve tried. The shrimp in the fried rice were actually big, real shrimp. The General Tsao chicken was mostly real chicken, not a ton of breading. While the prices are more expensive, to us it’s worth it to have better quality food and better customer service. We’ll try delivery next time to see if their wait times are as bad as others have posted.

Rude customer service. I’ve spent over $ 50 on carryout every trip and was treated as if i was an idiot for asking a question over the menu. She rolled her eyes like a two year old child and refused to answer the question. I walked out without ordering. If you don’t care about the service, the chinese is basic. I don’t eat sushi so I’m of no help there.

I have been going to Kampei for many years for both eat-in and take-out. Last night, we picked up some food and while I have not had their Chinese for a long time, I was shocked to see that it had gone dramatically downhill. The food was not only bland and greasy, but their staple dishes like Chicken and Broccoli and Hot and Sour Soup were so full of cornstarch I could have stood a spoon upright(ok, only a SLIGHT exaggeration!) and their sauces tasted like their color – brown – and had no distinct flavor. It’s sad that like all the Chinese take-outs in this area, they too have succumbed to «dumbing down» for what they perceive as the American market.

I’ve never been to the restaurant but ordered via Eat24 app. It took close to 80 minutes to deliver my order, which consisted of three items. When I called the restaurant about 50 minutes into my wait, she acknowledged that the driver was slow, had left 10 minutes ago, and would arrive in 10 – 15 minutes. It arrived 30 minutes later and the delivery guy had the never to ask for a tip. I’m never ordering from them again!

I’m pretty picky when it comes to sashimi so let me start by saying it was fresh and that’s always the bottom line. However, the sake was too hot as was the miso soup. It’s hard to judge anything fairly after you’ve burned your tongue. The salad was also disappointing: mostly iceberg lettuce with one tomato slice and one cucumber slice and water. Back to the fish, the presentation was decent and, again, it was fresh. I was neither over-impressed nor totally turned off. Service was prompt and responsive and the prices were reasonable so I’ll probably give them another try.

This has been our go to Asian place for the past 13 years. Never ate there, always taken out. Quality food, I love their wonton/egg drop mix soup, and both sides of the menu are good(Chinese and Sushi). Not the biggest sushi pieces in the world but it’s fresh. Not great customer service, for instance we go there almost every weekend, drop $ 50 per order and they still have NO idea of my name. They treat me like I’ve never been there before. Meanwhile you walk into Planet Pizza and buy a $ 3 slice and they treat you like you are family. 3.5 stars. Half star taken off for their poor customer service.

Was stupid and ate here again and found a plastic substance in my dumplings. Only took the dumplings off my bill, and I saw them giggling about it. This place is so unprofessional!!!

I go here all the time. The tako-su is my favorite. The waitress is always so sweet and remembers our family and names. The sushi is fresh and delicious. I have never had any bad food or experiences here! They also recently re-did there menus and interior. It looks so wonderful! Still a small place but the updated design really matches the food and service quality now.

Still an excellent place. Its been around for years… had a few down years… but recent experiences suggest– very good place. Chinese’s food is above average. Sushi is better than average.

Nice place, with good food and good service. Very extensive menu of Japanese and Chinese food. The only negative was a roach that crawled up the wall by our table during the meal

Highly priced sushi that was not very impressive. I had a custom made roll that cost me $ 15.95 for just one roll. I have been trying to find a place that makes good sushi like my favorite restaurant in NC. I would always order the Nemo roll(tuna and avocado on the inside, wrapped with rice and salmon on the outside). Really nice size chucks of meat too! Unfortunately, I have yet to find a Sushi restaurant that can make this roll. Kam Pei tried to make the roll for me, but it was pretty horrible, and very very tiny for the price I paid. I will try this place again, but definitely not for the sushi!

It should be actually 4.5 stars. Excellent Japanese and Chinese dishes. One of the very best sushi in town — really really fresh, good variety, reasonable prices. You can eat in, but great for take out as well.
