I’m upset I didn’t discover this place sooner. Been living here nearly 3 years and popped in a couple weeks ago. I had the beef and the special Bbq beef empanadas. Both were delicious. I have been back twice. I also picked up slice of tres leches cake, I found it odd that they weren’t soaking in milk as I’m used to, but they were happy to drizzle a little extra on top when they packed it up for me. Haven’t eaten it yet but it looks divine. I saw several folks picking up custom cakes that looked really nice as well. Will def be a frequent customer here.

I just had an amazing chocolate mousse cake from here! It is a very good rival to the St. Moritz chocolate mousse in Greenwich, and a whole lot less expensive! They have an amazing variety of items, with some unusual ones such as some berry and fruit cakes, empanadas, and other Latino specialties. The storefront is modest and unassuming, but don’t let it fool you! A hidden gem, for sure!

Best baked goods in the area. But… prepare to wait up to a half hour or more even if you order days before and have a scheduled time to pick up. They are always late. I must have ordered 10 cakes over the years and the above is always the case That being said… you won’t be disappointed with the top notch quality. Oh and parking is a little messy at times. there is a lot around the corner.

Consistently wonderful baked goods over the years. Cakes to order. Friendly, accommodating staff. Just great.

We ordered our wedding cake from them, when we went for a tasting we tasted a delicious cake consisting of buttercream, white cake, with chocolate mousse filling. We also gave them a picture and bought the flowers for our cake. I got worried when they called my fiancé two days before the wedding to ask what kind of cake and filling we wanted. This was already discussed three weeks prior. Perhaps they lost out original order bc the cake was inedible. It looked beautiful but the cake was more of what tasted like corn bread with chocolate filling. It was so bad that only 3 out of 80 people ate it. when I called to tell them what happened they said they never had complaints before and that we liked it when we had a tasting. I even offered to bring them the cake so they could taste it and they refused. bottom line is they made the wrong cake and wouldn’t work with me at all. not even offer any kind of refund

Little hole-in-the-wall bakery with surprising variety of excellent cakes, both plain and fancy! There are also terrific assortments of cookies and breakfast goods, as well as Latino specialties. The staff are super sweet and efficient. It’s open late, so we lucked out picking up a last minute birthday cake there. They put writing on it in a snap! Great little find!

My favorite bakery in Stamford. Best fruit tart I’ve had in a long time. My only complaint is there tres leche cake can be a bit dry.

This is by far the best bakery. When I visit Stamford I try to stop in at least twice a month for my sweet fix. The only drawback is the parking.

A quaint bakery with delicious, baked pasteries, breads and cakes that you could tell were made fresh daily. I had the tres leches and the Napoleon along with two pecan Sandy cookies. It was all delightful and well executed. We got 3 beef and 3 chicken empanadas to go. Very happy with that decision. There was a fair amount of egg in them too. They were filling and definitely a full meal in one. Excellent with fresh guacamole on the side. It was exceptionally well priced. We got 6 full sized empanadas, one napoleon, one tres leches, two cookies for $ 20. That’s an incredible value considering the size, quality and freshness of the food we received. I will definitely go back to try their quesadilla too

Mathew’s bakery is that type of bakery that you pass near by, you get in cause you need something sweet and you realize that they make good and tasty and perfectly balanced in sugar Not those stuffs that cover your entire mouth of sweet and feel that they sprayed inside an sugar antibiotic Is a very small business everything is displayed cookies and such in a side and cakes in the other everything looks perfect, I got crazy and bought the cakes that were lookin good to me, mango soufflé and fruit cheese cake Paid my order 40 dollars, cake are of a reasonable size, if you want quantity over quality then forget this place !! Sweet Jesus!!! The soufflé was a cloud !!! Smooth perfect mango mousse and the cake was so cute !! Good on the inside and lovely outside The cheese cake was«succulent“perfect with generously topped with fresh fruits This place is a «trust«around there I think A lot of Latino customers as the staff, they offer tamales and bread with butter and other stuffs Just watch out some of the staff doesn’t speak so much English, so if you have a specific order by phone, ask them gently to pass you a English speaking person without hurting them and make them feel uncomfortable

I bought 30 empanadas for a party I threw last night and they were a huge hit. Truly delicious and reasonably priced. The only drawback is that they outshined some of the food I cooked. I will definitely be back!

I work on broad street in Stamford and I love being able to walk over to this little bakery when I need a sweet treat. This is both a good and bad thing. The pastries and cakes are amazing. Specifically, I am obsessed with their carrot cake. The staff is also wonderful.

First of all, this bakery is always open – 7 days a week, long hours. So this makes a great spot for a last minute sweet tooth craving. It is a Latino owned bakery with Latin specialties that are amazing such as Tres Leches(three milks) cake which everyone loves, Latin or not. They also sell a full range of American and Italian style baked goods. Service is fast and friendly and prices are fair. I definitely recommend.

If you can’t make it to Dimare’s this is the next best bakery in town. Love the little cookies and mini cakes here. Everyone is friendly here and very much a mom and pop shop.

Love this little spot, so nice to have a bakery in downtown Stamford. Have tried some of their cookies all good, the carrot cake was excellent and their fresh breads are delicious. I stop in sometimes to pick up fresh bread to go with dinner or for dipping for cheese fondue. And yes, from other reviewer… very yummy empanadas too.

Empanadas!!! Matthew’s is run by an incredibly nice family, with the ever-smiling man behind the counter(who I like to think is Matthew) always eager to recommend things or chat. My friends and I love the empanadas, I’m not sure which is better, the chicken or the beef, but they are both fantastic! Yummy outside with an explosion of flavor on the inside. I was delightedly surprised when I tasted kalamata olives in the chicken empanada. I can’t say that I’ve tried too many of the cookies, there’s a huge selection and looks great, but what I have tried has been really good. The cakes however, are awesome. The tres leches is amazing, I can’t stop eating it once I’ve had the first bite! If you’re ever in the mood for some tasty, inexpensive baked goods, I would say this is the place to go.

What a find– huge pastry selection, made to order cakes, and yummy, reasonably priced cookies, and coffee. They also have tamales: sweet corn, pork, and chicken, and excellent empanadas.
