The sandwiches are fine, but beware using OrderAhead — in my experience they forget to add a subset of the add-ons you ask for 30−50% of the time. E.g. leaving the bacon out of an egg sandwich, ignoring veggie add-ons but still charging for them, etc.

Food is ok. Staff remind me of the ‘soup nazi’ episode of Seinfeld. convenient for work, but just ok. sandwiches are inconsistently made, depending on who gets your order. Had the runs once after eating a turkey sandwich from there. Mushroom soup on weds is fabulous. falafels are DRY. don’t waste your $$ on them.

10c candy! It’s probably one of the few reasonably priced items here, but then again rent is expensive so you can’t blame them for trying to make money. The sandwiches are good and HUGE. Its online ordering system is also very convenient. The staff is very nice and helpful.

If I could give a negative star I would. Bought a breakfast ham egg and cheese bagel. The lady gave me two very thin slices of ham, can’t even taste ham. Take a look at the pic I uploaded. Unbelievable!!! Been going here for years, but the service is so awful now, I gave this place more then 3 chances. No more! For those that are looking for a place to grab a bite, look else where. Bagels with mold… Check other pics. This place should not be allowed to operate. U’ve been warned!

Pretty fresh meat, and the bread is good too. One of my faves is veggie meatballs with cheese. Imho, the regular meatballs aren’t quite as good as the veggie ones.

Pictures are worth a thousand words so dear Unilocalers, you be the judge. I’ve been going to Lutticken’s for few weeks for my morning bagels — but with very inconsistent results — wrong bagel, burnt bagel… and today, moldy bagel(see picture). After double-checking with colleagues about what it might be, I returned to the deli with half left over bagel. Just as rude as when they take the order, with a lot of Spanish backtalk in between, the guy behind the counter basically shooed me out with two bucks in cash in return, whilst uttering defensively«that’s not mold, it’s part of the bagel. we get our bagels fresh everyday». Two minutes, tops. True they might get their bagels elsewhere and buy them daily but mold is mold and when a customer returns with concern(mainly to inform them to check the other batch for safety)… this is hardly the responsible reaction/behavior. It appears that they have been cited previously for food safety concerns by the Santa Clara County Department of Environmental Health(DEH)/Food Safety Division… and I’m not surprised.(Other glaring issue being that the cashier handles money and food back and forth without gloves!!!).

I never thought I would be singing the praises of an on campus eatery. Everyone knows that on campus eateries should be disgusting. Not so with CCSR café. This place has a line out the door every day at Noon and for good reason. Their sandwiches are delicious, huge and have this amazing fresh baked bread. Sourdough roll, FTW! Oh, and the salad are on point too. I recommend getting there early.

They make good sandwiches but staff here isn’t very friendly. Also, I came here every day for a week and ordered the same thing, and every day they charged me different price. And when it comes to change, make sure to count the change you get back cause cashiers here can’t count. Also their food isn’t as fresh as you’d expect from a place that charges so much. Be careful what you order here.

Good sandwiches. Unfriendly cashier. Make sure you get the right amount of change back.

Lutticken’s Deli is in the building right next to Stanford Hospital and is a great option to the Market Square Café( ) in the hospital itself. I’ve had a decent chicken salad on Dutch crunch sandwich here, and that’s a nice alternative to the boring grilled chicken sandwich at the main hospital. The line was a little long at 12:15pm, but became pretty manageable by 12:45pm. I highly recommend you check this place out if you are visiting the hospital and don’t want to drive downtown for lunch.

Yum. I like BBQ in the summer. but a line is too long to wait.

Breakfast: decent selection(bagels, egg sandwiches), ok prices. I am underwhelmed by their coffee. Lunch: decent sandwich selection, ok prices. During the summer there is sometimes a BBQ. I was disappointed by the tri-tip sandwich, and tri-tip is my favorite piece of cow. I don’t know if I’ll be giving the BBQ a second chance for a burger or anything. It is the closest food to me, but unfortunately the meat smell coming out their back door into my hallway becomes overwhelming. If I was suffocated by them regularly, I would eat here more.

I’m knocking one star down, due to the following changes: Refrain yourself from getting the refrigerated pastas and salads – they are incredibly greasy and artery clogging. On the other hand, they have also raised the price of coffee refills from 50 cents to $ 1. A bit lame, considering that their coffee tastes burnt with residual coffee grinds. Save yourself the $ 1 and go to Peet’s or Starbucks, which are close by. Sandwiches, bagels and most grill items are still good, granted you carry enough cash with you.

Coffee refills(aka. when you bring your own cup) are $ 1.00 now instead of 50 cents. SADPANDAS. Vanilla hazelnut coffee, I will miss you dearly, but I know I’ll still probably end up coming to get you anyway. On the plus side, the grill is back! «Cash only» makes it kind of annoying, but eh, it’s cheaper than at Nexus and comes with chips, so I guess I shouldn’t complain. They say they don’t grill buns, but I saw them do it for someone last week… tl;dr: Stop increasing the prices, Lutticken’s.

I’m in loooove with their mushroom soup(and apparently so is everyone else since I stopped by around 3pm and it was all gone)!! It contains a variety of mushrooms in their delicious chicken bouillon, it’s very filling and about $ 3 for the small sized container. I also occasionally get their breakfast egg sandwich($ 5 and available all day!) with pepper jack cheese and ham/bacon on an asiago bagel. They will automatically toast the bagel for you and it comes with 2 egg patties and 2 layers of ham/bacon. Pass on the mayo and butter, it’s already artery clogging enough. They also have a bbq every Tuesday and Thursday during the summer, it’s cash only and be prepared to wait at least 10 minutes. Your purchase includes a bag of chips; soda can be bought for an extra dollar. After purchasing your food at the tent, go inside CCSR Lutticken’s café to find your burger condiments and toppings! I recommend the turkey burger.

Lutticken’s is a good place for a quick bite to eat and coffee in the morning. With the other med school crowd, I usually eat here pretty often when I’m too lazy to venture to the massive crowds at Clark Center’s Nexus. The main thing to get here is the sandwiches. They’re build-your-own sandwiches for a good price. Also, they usually have some special sandwich of the day. This place also sells soup, chips, prepackaged salads(which they make every morning fresh), and occasionally, they’ll have a BBQ outside of the deli. Lutticken’s is also a good place to get coffee in the morning, as it’s probably the only place that has decent Hazelnut coffee. Be careful though, the coffee served here is freakin’ hot. I usually have to wait like 5 minutes after getting it to ATTEMPT to drink it… maybe 15 to actually enjoy it. Double sleeve it too… i’ve burned my hand many a time. –Pchris

Since I eat here at least once a week I figured I should write a review. I’m going to give Lutticken’s 4 stars(slightly generous… feeling nice today) because they are always there for me when I’m starving and they make big ass sandwiches that I can eat for lunch and dinner(granted the bread doesn’t get soggy). My favorite is the Italian sub on the usual menu but lately I’ve realized that the specials on the window are the best sandwiches. I had an awesome bruschetta sandwich the other day with chicken, tomatoes marinated in whatever sauce you use to make bruschetta, balsamic, lettuce, etc. The BLT is real good too when you don’t mind eating fatty bacon. I’d recommend always getting one of the rolls as your bread of choice because $ 7 for a regular sized square sandwich is SUCH a ripoff. Anyways, since I’ll be here for a few more years, I will be trying more specials and building up that special bond with all the workers there. :)

Things I miss about Stanford: 1-Luttickens Ok, that’s about all I miss. Is that kind of sad? I always walked over here and got a roast beef with avocado on the dutch crunch roll. A bit pricey but I was eating this sandwhich for like three days.

This place is a better place to get breakfast than Tazza D’amore at SF Caltrain, so I usually come here when I’ve run out of my morning yogurt. I always get the cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, toasted. It’s pretty decent, except for a few times when the bagel wasn’t toasted enough. It usually is just fine though. I can’t really give four stars for a toasted bagel with cream cheese though! I just can’t. Their breakfast sandwiches are way expensive($ 4.50 for just a bagel, egg, and cheese?) and not really worth it. I can make a better breakfast sandwich in my sleep. Their sandwiches are okay, but nothing really to write home about. This place is a solid three stars.
