This place is a shit hole, food sucks, service sucks, and the 15% gratuity for a party of 5! We got terrible service with no drink refills. Never recommend this place to anyone.

Wow really impressed by this low priced steak house. Ordered the ranch cut and it was very good sized. The cook cooked it too the perfect temperature. Lupe my waitress was awesome and stopped by twice to check on me. Verry impressed.

Not impressed at all. Place is for older folks. Loved the water & the garlic toast.

I’m giving it a one star upgrade because of the consistent food quality, and always great service. It still needs a good remodel, but in the defense of the restaurant, it does cater to the senior crowd.(We never eat dinner here, only lunch, so I may be wrong about this, I’m just calling it like I see it). Like I said previously, it is definitely not fancy, but they do make a really good steak sandwich.

One of the best steaks I’ve ever tasted! This place rivals the high end places and the prices are reasonable. I can’t get enough of the select sirloin.

Sorry for the delay. I would have written this review hours ago, but I was busy getting a stomach cleanse in the bathroom at the expense of The Golden Steer. The girlfriend and I came across this place after spending the day at the Titanic exhibit(which is amazing btw!). We were starving and are always into trying new places. As soon as we walked in we noticed a few things: seems like it’s a restaurant for the older generation. The girlfriend and I were easily the youngest people in the restaurant. This place is very plain from the inside… a little boring, could use a few upgrades. The service was ok, nothing special. Now let’s get down to the niddy griddy! The food was a huge disappointment. I had steak and ribs, the gf had chicken skewers. The food had no flavor whatsoever and was not cooked properly. The best tasting thing on our plates was the garlic bread. The food made us both sick no more than 20 mins after we finished. The car ride home was an interesting one. We planned the bathroom that we were each going to use, and the routes that we were going to take to that bathroom. So if you drive passed this place, keep driving! Don’t make the same mistake that we did. Fear the Golden Steer!

I have been coming here for the last 10 years and love the place, the staff is friendly and the food is great especially the clam chowder(on week ends only) and the steaks. I would have given a five star rating but they took my favorite(prime rib) off the menu. I hope that they will bring it back. H.Reichman

No more Prime Rib on weekends or any other time. Steaks are still good. I hope they bring it back.

We have been eating here for years and I just realized that I had«Tipped» the place but never actually written a review. Let’s start with what this place isn’t: This place isn’t a dimly lit steak house where you order everything ala carte and everything is «booshie» «OMG» «TODIEFOR» or flashy. Probably, not the first date spot unless you are 18 and just looking for something inexpensive before a movie without going fast food. This is a few steps above fast food or even Sizzler of Chili’s style chain spots but not quite as hip! If you go early there will be quite a few older people there, but someone told me that if you want good food go where the retirees eat! After 7 the crowd is a little younger, but this is a place you go to eat rather than to be «SEEN» or for the«SCENE» What it is: This is the simple equation of good food at a fair price in a clean(Yes, a little dated) environment. I have heard rumors that this is part of the same family of restaurants as the«Steer Inn» that are in Anaheim Hills and Orange and it would make sense as the menu’s are similar and the«House cut» of steak is the same in all three of these spots. This location just happens to be the closest to my house! We usually try to get the same server, Lupe, because she is really sweet and takes great care of us. Not that any of the others do less, we’ve just known her the longest! Everything on the menu is good and a solid value but for my money if you are a meat eater… Sit down and order the Ranch Cut Steak and whatever sides you want and wait to be amazed!

Tasty, well seasoned and well cooked steaks. Been coming here for years with my family and it is always a great option for a good meal at a reasonable price. Some of the favorites include the Ranch steak, bacon wrapped fillet, and chicken fried steak. Each comes as a full meal with side and soup or salad. Salad is fresh and the soups are tasty. Last visit we ordered a trio special(bacon wrapped fillet, ¼ rack ribs, and 6 fried shrimp with side and salad) for $ 16.99. More than I could eat, took over half of it home. Also ordered the medium cut Ranch steak to split between two people with chili bean soup and an extra salad and it was more than enough.

My husband introduced me to this gem 10 years ago!!! We’ve been coming a few times a year since then! The steaks are literally some of the best I’ve ever had. So, this review is based on our visit on Friday, November 13th. Our visit was for our brother-in-laws birthday dinner. There were 6 people in our party. First, Golden Steer doesn’t seat you until your whole party is there. There is a sign up front. They always have great specials on the black board when you walk in. Its usually something fabulous. I ALWAYS order the«House Speciality Steak». I get the 14 oz Steer Cut medium rare. I get a salad, cheese toast, and a fully loaded baked potato. Its $ 20.99. I think its the best place to get a steak. Im serious. Better than Ruth Chris. Better than Morton’s Steakhouse. Ive had a few bites of other dishes. The ribs are great. The Salmon is awesome as well. This restaurant décor is very outdated. I think its part of the charm. Its feels right out of the 70’s. The service is ALWAYS really great. We have never had a problem. My hubby and I will return to Golden Steer again, and again. Love it!!!

My boyfriend and I went to the Golden Steer recently at it was really good. I had the prime rib, and he had the Golden Steer plank steak. Our steaks tasted great, and the service was wonderful. The prices are really reasonable, and the place is really welcoming and clean.

Do not for one second think you can come here as a subsititute to Golden Corral. Just drive the extra 8 miles for the better food. The food here was ok. Service was fast and good considering we came on a Saturday afternoon and waited 15 minutes to be seated. If you’re looking a nice juicy steak, I wouldn’t recommend coming here. I ordered the filet mignon medium rare and it tasted dry and well done. My husband’s steak was juicy but very stringy, he said. The lobster was a good size; satisfyingly bigger than Red Lobster’s. We also got the sampler appetizer platter. Everything was good but our entrees came immediately after so we didn’t get to finish everything. The atmosphere here is very quiet. When we walked in, there was a family of about 12 people(which can be noisy at times) and other guests were complaining that it was too loud. I didn’t think the party of 12 was that noisy. Seems like this place is popular among elderly couples, which is why the restaurant is packed, yet if drop a fork, everyone will know. If you’re looking for something fast and aren’t particular with steak, Golden Steer is good. But don’t expect too much. That is all.

Simple, great service, great steak and decent prices. Came here for the first time and ordered the 7oz steak. The steak was great well seasoned and cooked perfectly. I opted for the smaller steak because I knew I would also have soup, bread and potato. Much better than Black Angus!

Well, this joint is ripe for one of those reality shows to «make over» and make awesome again! Tons of potential there. I ordered a burger and it was obviously a frozen patty, with packaged buns, etc, etc, … same stuff you get at a corner burger joint… only $ 2 – 3 more pricey! Service was average and place was clean(and empty… should have been my first clue). I don’t see a reason to return… perhaps you will experience better?

I’ve been here many times now, my boyfriends grandparents love to have family gatherings here. I love their steak. Good juicy flavors. There’s no fat & it’s always consistent. If you get the smallest size(regular cut), I suggest going medium rare if you want it medium. Or medium if you want it medium well. It’s such a small size for the regular cut that it cooks pretty fast. It comes with a salad this is pretty good, a piece of garlic toast and your choice of baked potato or veggies. Desert themed, kind of Texas style weird décor. Old people. And such good steaks!
