Searching for a new favorite after Casa de Soto closed. And still searching. Not a large place, tiny bar, which we were seated next to. Obvious regulars at the bar, amusing conversations overheard: «so ‘scuze ma ignarents, but what’s the difference between a shot gun and a rifle?’ I ordered cheese enchiladas, wife albondigas soup, son shrimp fajitas, daughter a compound salad. We were the only food customers, took 20 minutes for service. Salad ok, fajitas ok, enchiladas ok, all a bit bland a la El Torito. Probably generously worth 3 stars and let it go. However, albondigas broth was insipid, just colored water with no taste of beef stock or vegetables or spices in the preparation, meatballs tasteless also. My wife took two spoonful of broth, nibbled a meatball and said, ‘this is not good.» My son took a spoonful of broth and agreed. The soup bowl basically was as full as when it was brought to the table. The waitress came by and asked, «how’s everything?’ And I told her my wife didn’t like the soup, that it had no taste. No comment, just walked away, no offer to replace with something else. Later, she brought the check, with no adjustment. I get that our tastes or expectations may differ, but customer service standards should be a constant(«customer’s an idiot» under your breath, but«customer’s always right» said out loud.) I don’t see a reason to return.

This place is amazing! I saw it in passing and had to stop! The food was spectacular! Beef flautas are delicious and the margarita was perfect! If you are in the area you must stop and try it for yourself!

Our favorite Mexican restaurant! The food is delicious! Working our way through the menu and haven’t a bad meal yet. Some of our favorites are street tacos, chicken nachos, taco salad, enchiladas suizas! Etc! Very nice owner and staff!

I was reading reviews as we waited for our order. Wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. The staff are very pleasant. The chips are ok, and the salsa really is bland. I ordered the steak fajita Cadillac nachos. This was an excellent choice. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. They are generous with the meat as another review mentioned. The balance between cheese, chips, beans and fajitas was great. Sour cream and guacamole is included. There is a bar in there and the patrons were relaxing having a good time. No one was rowdy or obnoxious. It was a nice lunch with excellent food. The price is a dollar or so more than comparable restaurants but it’s a good price for the portion and quality.

I will give it a 3 for now. But as I walked in the whole bar greeted me(regulars I can tell) and offered me chips and salsa before I even say down. This may be one of my hide away lunch spots! The walls are filled with photos of customers. Mexican culture flavored Decour The jack and Coke was perfect! I make them all the time at home and don’t get it like this. Small but clean and clean smelling bathrooms But can they make a good taco??? Well. The meat was flavorful. The«hot» salsa was ok. But I had to look for the cilantro and onions. This was my first time there. I will revisit based on the welcoming committee alone. It doesn’t matter that they were old fogeys. They were the fun ones

Bomb, absolute bomb, besr Mexican food I’ve had in a long time, maybe ever. I had the choose 3 conbo and all of it was scrumptious. The wife had the Carne Asada plate and it too was delicious, will definitely be back! … To those who didn’t like it should just stick to El Torito, home of the worst food on the planet!

Sombrero’s! :(I saw this place and got really exited to try it out. But I was pretty disappointed in the outcome. When I first walked in, I had big smile, was ready just to see the menu and chow down/relax. Then a moment later I just felt awkward, like im a strange outsider going into their private restaurant. As you walk in you’ll see a bar and more than a few seating tables. But no direction on where to order or how to order. I stood by the cash register for like a good 5 min before someone noticed me and handed me a menu. It wasn’t even a hostess or server that gave me a menu, It was a regular customer. Very unorganized and unprofessional on how they handle/serve new customers. A few minutes later a server came to me and asked what I wanted. I ordered Tamales to go. The price was fairly decent like $ 3.00 almost for 1 tamale. I ordered 3. It took almost 30 minutes to get my order and get out(Im not exaggerating. I do wear a wrist watch at all times). So Im like HOLYCOW! With no waiters/servers asking me if I wanted a drink or anything in between as they walked by without saying anything. So I just stood there still feeling awkward till the time I left. I could have at least bought a beer or two if they would ask me or looked approachable. But it seemed like they didn’t want to be bothered. Now on to the food all i have to say is: It sure doesn’t look like the tamales im used to but it did taste sort of like tamales. That was about it. Nothing special, not the best tamales I’ve had, not really a place I would visit again for me. Very sad about that! I would have been a regular I guess since the bar area looked pretty cool and they had more Mex food to try. I’ve been eating Mexican Food and at Mexican Restaurants since birth so i know my tamales! If you ever decide to give this place a shot. I hope your experience will be better than mine. Only fate will bring me back to this place again for an updated review.

Went to try this place & it was good — ordered a torta — the carne asada was tasty — the prices are a bit high for a small place — but it was fresh that is a for sure thing –service was great

I love this place & always come and see Marless, but today was a weird visit. My friend & I each got the giant bowl of albondigas soup and a side of guacamole. My friend had some weird piece of bristle brush in her soup so she lost her appetite. The server took it off the bill which was great. But upon seeing our bill we were shocked! The side of guacamole was $ 8.95! Our giant bowls of soup were $ 7.95& I see no issue with that but guacamole for almost $ 9 in a tiny bowl is insane! We will definitely be back but the pricing is horrible on guacamole and we’ve had the same size before and it was a couple bucks… What the heck people?!?

Found this place off Unilocal. The service was great. One man show front of the house. She was friendly quick and obviously this place has its share of regulars which is always good. The salsa was very good. Hubby had fajitas and enjoyed them I had vegetarian taco and tostado it also was good Son had burrito as did daughter The portions were huge. Signature margaritas were also good. Would go back next time passing through for sure

$ 10 for a 2 item combo. I opted to get a pork tamale & hard shell chicken taco. The tamale comes smothered in enchilada sauce and cheese. There’s moist tender shredded pork and a perfect amount of masa. The meat to masa ratio is almost 2:3 with the 3 being the meat! It’s been about a month since I had this meal and I’ve probably thought of it at least 3 times since. This is the best tamale I have had in a few years(!) The chile verde is delicious and more tasty than spicy. Their rice and beans are good but now that I’ve discovered the tamales, that might just be my go to combo item. If you’re in the area, give them a chance! Typically they’re not very busy and I’m going to be heartbroken if they go out of business.

We definitely don’t go to this place as much as we should! My husband heard about this place through a coworker years ago and it has always impressed. We always seem to head over here around random holidays like Valentine’s day and St Patricks day, and they are always having yummy specials. Today I got the Colorado burrito & it may have been the best Colorado ever. I was very impressed! The chips and salsa were delicious as always as well, which is actually super important to me. I really would avoid a place if I didn’t like their chips and salsa. So good job Sombrero’s! Stay delicious!

DUDE! Woah! How have I lived next to this place for 7 years and NOT eaten here! What is wrong with me? I mean, plenty wrong with me but seriously, something is really wrong with me. My husband and I decided to try something other than MexiCasa this time while we were out with his mom and brothers. Normally the drill is, head over to MC then walk around Target to work it all down. Yeah! Literally ALWAYS the plan. This time we flipped things around. We still ended up at Target after our meal though… of course! This place automatically feels like home when you walk in. Loads of pictures on the walls of what looks to be family and/or regulars and other items you would typically see in a Mexican food restaurant. We were seated way in the back by the bathroom. Its really mellow back there so its a great place for a medium sized party to kind of feel like they have their own space. Automatically they bring a big bowl of chips with salsa along with whatever drinks you order. We all ordered water so they just left a thing of water in the middle of the table for us to serve ourselves and when it was empty they were on top of getting it refilled. Our bill consisted of the Brick burrito, street tacos, egg enchiladas, burrito especial, and a traditional burrito. We literally had NO leftovers. My meal was the brick burrito and let me just say that was the BEST burrito I’ve had in a very long time. Chipotle who? I’m hooked! I love guac and even though they forgot it in my burrito, I’ll be the first to admit, I did not miss it one bit. I would however like to see more sour cream inside though or somehow have it all mixed up then put in the burrito. Oh man! The chicken is perfectly cooked and seasoned as well as the beef. It just pulls out as you pull away from your bite. OMG! I need more of that in my life. My husband ordered the enchiladas with egg. He said they were really good, he just expected more cheese so that was his only complaint. Needless to say, we’ll be a regular here as well. I’m still in shock that we’ve never been here before! WTF is wrong with us?! I’ll be bringing new people in on a regular soon I can promise that! Expect to put out $ 8 – 10 per person. They do have some meals that run a little more expensive at $ 12 – 15

Super friendly and fast service, & yummy food! They gave chips & salsa; chips were still warm, & definitely get both mild & spicy salsa. They’re great mixed together. Got the beef & carnitas flautas, & Brother got the burrito especial… They were both really good & big servings, & we both ended up only eating half our food. We also got beef nachos to-go for our mom, & she said they were really good with big pieces of meat that fell apart for each chip. We’ll definitely be back.

Sombreros has been around a very long time(35 years). I grew up in Stanton and when I was a teen/young adult it was called Sombrero Street(different owner, but same location). It wasn’t until my daughter married her husband 4 yrs ago that we were reintroduced to the restaurant by her in-laws who faithfully dine there every weekend. Well it has now become one of our favorites. Marles is there pretty much everyday to serve you and is very sweet. The food is really good. We love Flautas and finally had them tonight. They were really scrumptious! Big, tasty and pipping hot. Real home cooked Mexican food without us Mexican Moms doing the cooking. So far every meal… enchiladas, tacos, Ablondiga soup, tostadas have been super yummy. The chips have always been warm with hotter salsa for the asking. Marles makes a great margarita too. The restaurant isn’t that large inside, but can accommodate a party of 20 nicely. It is a diamond in the rough, and worth visiting. As for the review that said the food made them I’ll, we have dined many times with no issues so don’t hold that against them. Try it for yourselves before judging. Olé

Introduced to this place by my in-laws. They are regulars patrons and love the homey feel. On occasional Fridays(no schedule) the guy makes Prime Rib. They text my in-laws. Have returned twice with the family. Combo meals for under $ 10. Street tacos are great. Always a crew of regulars at the bar(full bar). Fresh warm chips with pico de galleo are yummy. This place will be on our restaurant rotation. Good food & super friendly staff. A true neighborhood place.

This is a small hole-in-the-wall, family owned placed in a shopping center. I have come here a couple of times with my mom because she loves Mexican food. I’ve only had the sopa de pollo(chicken soup) when I come here. I love soup and this is my second favorite soup I’ve ever tasted. They use good quality white chicken, they also add rice and lots of veggies, and the broth is delicious. My mom gets cheese enchiladas and tacos and she loves them. The lady who owns this place is friendly and helpful and good with refills. The food is relatively cheap. The interior isn’t the prettiest but everything is clean. If you want good Mexican food, I recommend you try this place.

This is an update. My friend and I had lunch on Sunday the 26th of October, the meal was delicious but later that evening I had a stomach ache, cramps and the runs. My friend also had the same problem. I really like the restaurant and the service is amazing but we got sick that day. I’ve eaten at Sombrero’s many times with friends and not once did I get sick. I don’t know what happened. Needless to say I won’t be coming back!
