Is half a star possible? A combination of 2 visits — first visit was through the drive through. After waiting for 20 minutes for the food I got the wrong sandwich and had cold fries. I went inside to get the right sandwich and IT ended up being wrong too. I had to get back to work so I dealt with it. The manager did give me a coupon for a free meal to make up for the screw up though. 2nd visit —(a week later to redeem the free coupon) My wife and I went in at 8 – 830 in the evening after Christmas shopping… NOBODY else in the store, nobody in the drive-thru…you wouldn’t think it would be an issue would you??? You’d be WRONG! I got my complimentary screw-up meal and my wife ordered a shrimp and rice meal. Again, you’d think with nobody in the store it wouldn’t be a hard order to process right??? They initially bring my wife’s food out by itself and had no idea where mine was. They figured that out and brought it out and wouldn’t you just know it, my fries were already cold and the sandwich was dry and chewy. My wife’s shrimp and rice meal literally had cold rice on the plate. Keep in mind that this food was cooked to order! As someone else on here has mentioned, I don’t know why I keep going back. Maybe I keep thinking that they’ll get back to where they used to be but… I don’t see it happening anytime this decade.

I keep saying I don’t know why I keep coming back, but today is the final straw! Every time I come I wait in the drive thru for 30 minutes! 30 freaking minutes! What are they doing plucking the chicken?! I can be the only one in line and have a 20 minute wait!!! Today though, on top of waiting 25 minutes for my food, I order a large drink I get a medium but I only got charged for a medium so whatever, they forget my extra piece of chicken which I WAS charged for so I go back in and get it, and my drink when I receive it from the guy at the drive thru isn’t even full! I mean seriously how hard is it to fill a drink up the whole way?! And when I complained inside they said they wouldn’t refill it because I might be lying and have drank it all! Seriously how do you stay open!!!

We went through the drive-thru. We we received our order, we noticed that it did not include shrimp, ketchup, or tartar sauce as it was supposed to. We parked the car and went inside the restaurant. No employees were standing near the cash registers. I yelled, «Hello?» No one answered. My husband yelled, «Hello?» Still, no one answered. My husband then walked behind the counter to the door that separates the cash registers from the kitchen. He knocked on the door and waved his hand through the window. Finally an employee came out. We told her that our order had mistakes. She got the shrimp, ketchup, and tartar sauce for us. She allowed us to keep the incorrect chicken that they had given us earlier. The food tasted good.

Horrible. Avoid at all costs. This use to be worthy of four stars, back when Long John Silver’s made *real* food, and long before they teamed up with A&W Root Beer. What makes this place truly terrible these days… 1.) Poor quality Long John Silver’s food. For example, the battered and fried chicken used to be real pieces of whole chicken. Now it’s just processed chicken similar to Chicken Nuggets. Gross. 2.) Poor quality A&W food. For example, the signature burger was small, dried-out, tough meat, with a rancid taste. Seriously, a rancid taste. It was so bad that I had to spit it out and take it back to exchange it. I didn’t want to risk getting sick over one of the worst burgers I ever tried. 3.) Service. Slow, slow, slow. More than 20 minutes wait for our food. It was just me and my wife. No other customers were waiting for food. There was no one in line before or after us. 4.) Dirty. Everything is greasy. The floors are horrible, the trash bins are disgusting, and the tables seem to only get cleaned by new customers sitting down. The staff seems incapable of knowing the difference between clean and dirty. Or just doesn’t care. Either way it’s a train wreck. The only positive here is that their hush puppies are still as good as ever. I don’t think that would change much since it’s a chain, and that food is shipped in(not sure if it’s frozen, lightly pre-cooked, or in batter form when they get it?). I expect this place to close down soon. My bet is 2015, if not earlier. I used to visit and enjoy this Long John Silver’s all the time when they were good in the early 2000s and all throughout the 80s and 90s. Then really went downhill somewhere between 2008 – 2009. What a shame.

This is one of the most consistent fast food Restaurants in State College. The people are always friendly, and the mix of A&W and Long John Silvers should be able to please any family!
