A quote from my girlfriend, «Absolutely terrible quality clothes, every single dress in the store will not fit you lengthwise if you’re anything over 5 feet tall. Always super short and way too expensive for clothes and shoes that don’t last.!»

My favorite place to shop in downtown State College! Such a great assortment of boutique designer trousers, dresses, tops, and shoes. There is even a whole corner of just American Apparel basics. Yes a little«expensive for State College,» but when you buy nice clothes, that’s what happens. Plus the have YA clothes… thank the heavens!

there are very few stores where I find myself feeling boring and plain. but here, I felt the need to don my heart shaped sunglasses to dim the racks of day-glo dresses, tops, shoes, and bags. is there a major club scene at penn state?

Wow. Worst costomer service ever. When someone calls and asks what time you’re open til, that typically means the register. When five of the employees tell you the store closes at 8(at 7:45) and then another proceeds to tell you they r closing in five min and you question them, the appropriate answer is probably not«well the register closes in five.» Ive also never been told to «put the shoes back where they belong.» I planned to purchase a number of things and walked away with only two. Guess they met their sales quota for the week but any other store would keep their doors open until the customers r finished. Such b****es and this is all I’ve heard from anyone about these people. Where is management?! Does it not matter? With so many people out of jobs, and so many businesses hurting these days, I feel there is no excuse for this nonsense! Arg!

The closest thing I could find to a store similar to what we have at home. They sell So Low’s, Buffalo and Diesel jeans. Pretty much similar to Funk & Standard in Red Bank. They have cute novelty tees, accessories and quick gift ideas too. It’s expensive for State College, and they don’t sell Penn State related stuff. They survive though, so they’re definitely appealing to anyone who shops at Nordstrom or Bloomingdales. I definitely frequented this place a lot. Good shoe selection too. The staff are just way snooty and less than helpful.

In need of a non-PSU hat and a scarf to wear to a night football game, I walked up and down College Ave to no avail. Of course, all I found were PSU gear. I saw a scarf on their display window and had to check it out. Once inside, I found a variety of warm hats, scarves, and gloves. Bingo! The store reminded me of Urban Outfitters. I liked their clothes, accessories, and fun novelty gifts. My only complaint was that the prices were a bit high.(I also had a sneaking suspicion that they overcharged me.) After two hours of searching for a hat and scarf, though, I was just relieved to have found what I was looking for. Also, to repeat what Anne P. said below, the staff wasn’t very friendly or helpful.

Metro’s your typical teenybopper/trendoid college town clothing store. Much like any of a number of chains, it’s got a ton of clothes and then a section of novelty nonsense like toilet humor books(and accessories) and alcohol-related paraphenalia(funky ice cube trays, drink recipe books, etc). Not sure if I wasn’t of the right demographic or what, but the staff blatantly ignored me last time I stopped by(even as I was approaching them), though that was months ago now.
