Solid choice downtown. The Corner Room is a classic spot right on college ave. across from campus. They have a ton of options. They’ve got stuff for every meal of the day. My favorite day to go is Thursday. They have priced burgers… What could be better than that??? My favorite thing to get has to be their peanut butter burger. It’s got blue cheese on it too, which may sound gross but don’t knock it til ya try it! But if that’s a little too wild for you — get a normal burger, you can’t go wrong. A good appetizer is their warm pretzels — so good!

It was the first time to visit the State Collage for a music concert to attend and me and my husband had a quick dinner before the show start at this place. The our waiter was very nice but food was OK. We had French onion soup, side fries and steak salad. potion of salad was a bit small then I expected and it explain to me course of the price.(about $ 11 + tax and tip) My husband eat the soup and he said it was a bit too salty. inside of the restaurant was very antique and sweet looking. cosy place to have a chatting with your friends. no question to have a good time in there but not so recommended to the visiter from outside, over expecting to have a great food and drinks. Not too bad. just be expected«fine».

mediocre at best. you pay for the atmosphere but the food is by no means the best in state college.

One of the most wholesome restaurants in State College. The atmosphere reminds you of home and everything on the menu is done right. Truly an ionic downtown place

ABSOLUTELYTERRIBLE. Horribly small portions for the big price you pay. Salad had two olives and two small grape tomatoes, barely any steak and it was dry. Dressing was gross. Crab cake sandwich extremely small. Mashed potatoes disgusting. STAYAWAY!

I’ve been going to the Corner Room since I was 10. The booths are kind of falling apart and the seats aren’t that comfortable. Service is friendly and good. The food is just okay, nothing special. I feel like it’s gone down hill over the years. They could offer up great traditional deli-style foods but the burgers are dry, the chips are stale and it’s just of «ehh». Wish it were better given the history and the location.

Met a friend for lunch at The Corner Room a few days ago. We were seated quickly and given a nice window booth. The French Onion Soup was excellent. Tons of gooey, crispy cheese on top of a savory, rich broth full of sweet onions. I added a Caesar Salad to my meal that was just ok. The salad was over dressed with what tasted like bottled caesar dressing. My friend enjoyed her Pork BBQ Sandwich. Only complaint was that the bun was not toasted, which resulted in a soggy sandwich. Overall, this is a nice little place for a quick, decent lunch. Not a gourmet meal by any means, but they do a good job with the classics. Friendly and fast service as well.

Stopped for a late lunch with my wife while visiting Penn State. The nachos were epic, mozzarella sticks were crispy and accompanied with flavorful marinara sauce. The crab cake sandwhich was small so if you are really hungry you might want to consider ordering something else. Service was very good, really enjoyed sitting at the windows along College Ave.

I have to agree with another Unilocaler, it’s a diner. The atmosphere is nice enough but i ate there 2 times and got sick both times. And the bathrooms are upstairs.

We love The Corner Room for its great location and large varied menu! Traditional spot for families and students to enjoy a meal in town. The staff is friendly and there is lots of cool memorabilia to look at.

After coming here several times, I can conclude that this place is not bad or great. Just average. It’s a diner. I’ve had the tuna melt, which was very good and came with potato chips. The nachos, which were also pretty good. The French onion soup, which was decent. The Caesar salad, which was just too much crunchy iceberg… I didn’t like it. They have a lot of options and the service is fine.

State College seems to be big on nostalgia. On nearly every business around the Penn State campus, the year of establishment is proudly displayed. In the case of The Corner Room, they have been around since 1926. Sadly(thanks to my west coast body clock) we missed breakfast which is served until 11am. However, all was not lost as omlettes were available from the lunch menu until 2pm. Also, the breakfast buffet(it didn’t appear very appetizing, but I am not a ‘buffet’ person so probably not a good judge here) was available until 2pm as well. * Still fixated on breakfast food, I went with the 3 cheese omelette. It came with a choice of bread(english muffin or toast) and potato(tater tots or hash browns — aren’t these the same thing, just in different shapes?) which made the plate a sea of yellow and beige. The large omelette made with 3 eggs was impressively filled from corner to corner with cheese, which I appreciated. Nobody likes that bite of just egg. Nobody. There was no way I was going to be able to finish it but I did make a pretty big dent. * What I really wanted was a children’s menu, just to play with, as it is presented on the back of an Etch-A-Sketch. I somehow managed to restrain myself.

Convenient and dependable stand-by. Went for breakfast. Food was good, comparable to other diners and breakfast/lunch spots. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Inexpensive. True that there are probably better options(especially for dinner), but still good breakfasts.

Ahh The Corner Room! A classic State College restaurant on the corner of College Ave and Allen! I used to go here as a student every Thursday for their burger specials! When family visited I took them here because every other student did(#Parentapproved) and it was close to my college apt that was only a few blocks away! Funny enough my brother and his GF thought to take me here because they felt it was safe for people who avoided gluten. Fast forward to a recent lunch that was accompanied by my brother and his girlfriend. It was Sunday Funday but we opted to keep it sober as I had a long drive ahead of me. We were led into the dining room after noticing the brunch buffet in full swing. After promptly being sat in a booth we were greeted by our server. I opted for the fajita salad and added Guac for a dollar more(duh! #Nobrainer). All in all, I was pleased to enjoy this detox of a meal. It was nothing to rave about but came out as expected. Not a ton of vegetables in this fajita salad but it was made better with guac. If you’re looking for fancier, trendier sunday funday brunch location then check out other places away from downtown!

Not really sure what the buzz is about this place. I’m sure that most people are paying for nostalgia and not the food. I think you can find much better, and less crowded, options for the same price or less.

I have a feeling that people other than students that come here do so because of nostalgia. It has a «college» feel with the way the structure looks. They offered the $ 9.95 Sunday buffet with the standard fare. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich, strawberry salad, cheese steak sandwich and the bacon cheeseburger. My cheeseburger bun was the size of the HUB. All the other dishes we had were somewhat nondescript. The place was packed and there was a waiting list. I’m not really sure what the appeal of this place is. Oh yeah, the nostalgia.

If you like Caesar salads, this is the place. I added a crab cake. It was very tasty. The prices are a bit high but I would say it is worth it. My friend ordered meat, and she felt very satisfied about it. The waiter was so niceee!

This place is okay for breakfast or lunch. It’s kind of slow. They have this white sangria with blueberries and apples in it. That’s my favorite there(not even a food item). I think it’s seasonal though. This is one of those places where if one person in the group suggests it and everyone else is just like«whatever» *shrug* then they all go. It’s not a restaurant where everyone in a group is like«we HAVE to go to Corner Room!» Nope but it’s not bad.

The Bloody Mary’s are pretty tasty; mimosas as well. The Food is very sub par. It was obvious to our party of four that the food is delivered frozen off a Sysco truck. Tyler was freindly and hooked us up with a large pitcher of mimosa. There are better options to be had during the pantalone wearing months.
