Amazing atmosphere(especially for State College!) and not to pricy. Double sided stone fireplace with mason jar candles lit. It looks like the inside of a big barn inside(but very updated and trendy). Huge bar area with exposed lighting hanging from above — really pretty :) Yummy burgers and awesome fries. I highly recommend the crab fries — they pour the fries onto your table and give you a crab bisque-like sauce to dip them. Yum! For dessert they have tasty shakes(with option to make alcoholic). Only complaint — last time I went, there was a pretty long wait for food. Besides that, great!

Very busy at 5:00 on a Saturday, but we got a table for four. The best thing about the evening was our prompt, friendly, and efficient server, Alexis. Ordered Salt Fries for the table with our drinks. .. insanely salty. Sent them back for an order of Parmesan and Truffle(much better). Two burgers ordered«pink,» both arrived well-done and incorrectly plated. I ordered no onion and a side salad. .. got onions. DH wanted onion on his and a side of beans. .. no onion. We traded. The staff members were all friendly, the service was excellent, the vodka milkshakes passing by looked delicious. The food is not worth the price.

The Field is awesome! The menu was big enough to present many options without being too overwhelming. The service was good and the appetizers and food were spread out enough to not feel rushed. The burgers were awesome as well as the parmesan and truffle fries! There was a great drink selection and the milkshakes looked amazing. The Field has a relaxed atmosphere and great food and drink selections. This is definitely one of the better dinner options in State College and I will be going back very soon.

Finally tried it after hearing a lot of ravings. I am happy that at least we have one like this in this town. The parmesan with truffles fries and side chips are quite good. I ordered the boar; it is good but I think the beef is tasteless and a bit overcooked(for medium). I may try to ask for medium rare next time. The beer list is local so they are not so interesting to me. I’d prefer to have tap with Belgian’s Ale selections.

Tried to have dinner there 2 nights ago– BIG mistake! Ok, first it was Valentines Day — actually none of us even noticed! That wasn’t even the issue! We were there on a slow Sunday evening before 6pm. There were people waiting — no biggie — gave our name and we were told it would be 90 minutes! We looked in the restaurant and we could easily see 10 empty tables! We wait a few minutes — overhear others say ‘they don’t even take reservations! I can’t tell you if the food is good or not. Ambiance stinks, no charm or nothing inviting about the establishment to make you stay and wait 90 minutes. If the décor and the personalities designing the restaurant have anything to do with the Menu — go to Chick Fil-a on Atherton or SHEETZ for a sandwich — much better choice and less wait!

I have been looking in the State College area for the best Bloody Mary. Finally, I have found the spot. Cindy made an extraordinary Bloody. It was not just a mix, it was something she had concocted up and it was delicious. To add, the garnishes were delicious(bacon and cheeses). The food is always delicious as well and the staff is knowledgable and friendly.

We dined at The Field restaurant this past Friday night. We arrived at 7 pm and were told that it would be 1 hr 15 min wait for a table. We headed for the bar and lucked out sitting at one of the long high tops with some other bar patrons. The remodeled version of the restaurant is much more urban contemporary than its predecessor. The beer selection is extensive but pricey. We ordered the Field hamburger– it was cooked perfectly and very tasty. We also split a beet salad which was weedy, boring, and disappointing containing very few beets. I would eat there again and probably limit my choice to a hamburger.

The Field Burger and Tap is located in the convention center part of the Toftrees Golf Resort. Interior is an interesting design that reminded me of a restored barn with the exposed ceiling beams. We went in for an early lunch and were seated quickly. The menu is a bit limited and is burger heavy, so this restaurant might not be for everyone. Ordering was fast but our food took a little while to arrive. Cindy, our waitress, made the suggestion to order«the bucket» of fries as it was a better deal. Our burgers had a nice presentation with«The Field» branded into the burn. Burgers had good favor and were quite filling. The bucket of fries was not a joke; it was a KFC sized bucket full of fries, poured onto butcher’s paper. The fries for me were hit or miss, with some being a little underdone in my opinion. Our table could only finish about half the bucket. Cindy was even able to split the bucket across our bills. The price of a burger, fries, and soda is not exactly cheap here, but the food is filling and good. We came back the next day to try the breakfast buffet that was well stocked. Items included bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and biscuits. Fresh fruit and cereal were available on another table. Cost was only around $ 10 and was a great deal for the amount of food. Overall, The Field Burger and Tap is good, but a little expensive in some places, and the service could be a little faster.

Ate here last weekend as we were attending a convention at the Toftrees Golf Resort. First there always seems to be a bit of a wait, as most of the patrons were not from the con itself, but they do take your name and text you when your table is ready. At most we waited about 30 minutes but it was peak dinner time(around 6pm). Has a nice bar/lounge rustic atmosphere. I recommend the bucket of fries for an appetizer. Fries are dumped in the middle of your table and have a great crispy texture. Theres more than enough for a party of 4. Made the mistake of getting a crab cake one night. Way too much old bay and not enough crab meat, plus it was really flat. Not like the lump crab cakes I’m used to. Stick to the burgers or soups and you can’t go wrong.

We went to The Field the other night and had a good time. The décor is great and the drink/beer selection is pretty good. The service was quick and everything seemed to flow. I had the shaved steak sandwich on ciabatta bread. It was more like chopped steak rather than being shaved. The aioli was good, but the sandwich had way too much on it. My wife’s crab cake sandwich was average. Had a nice grilled crust to it, but a little on the dry side. The hand cut fries were fantastic though. Some places make hand cut fries but don’t cook them correctly and they come out limp. These were crisp on the outside, yet still perfect inside. The crab cheese had little to no crab meat in it though. We’ll give it another try in the summer and see if sitting outside helps.

I had the Capresse(sp?) burger, a side of kale salad and surprise dessert! TIM, our first and favorite waiter at the Field Burger, was sublime in every conceivable way, so to make our meal even more special, he decided to treat me to an ice cream cake for my birthday which is tomorrow. :) Tim, Mike and I think you’re the best and will be sure to ask for you by name whenever we come to enjoy another wonderful meal. Peoples, this is one great place to relax and have quality food and drink… and ask for TIM; you won’t regret it.

Really enjoyed this unique and fabulous place which we just tried. Great décor/atmosphere and lovely views of Toftrees. Interesting and enticing menu which proved not to disappoint! At least eight different burgers with a wide selection of options including one with Wagyu beef and another called the Lancaster burger(the flagship burger at the Fields) which is a mixture of chopped mixed meats including sirloin, brisket, etc., and a host of other burgers including the venison Hunter’s burger. The rolls came branded! In addition to the burgers there are a variety of delicious appetizers(we had their homemade pirogies) and other entrees available such as a shaved prime rib sandwich. Loved it, soup to nuts! **TERRIFIC service by James! Don’t forget the superb bar offerings! Go. You’ll love it, guaranteed.

Good, but not great. I had family who had eaten here before and raved about how good the burgers were. The interior is nice and cozy but the music was very loud, which detracted from the homey atmosphere and made it hard to hold a conversation. I’ll say right off the bat, our server was excellent. Very attentive and personable. Drinks were always filled. I ordered the beet and greens salad, everyone else I was with got burgers. We also got Mac and cheese, and table fries to share. Fries were tasty, cooked well with good potato flavor. The portion was quite large, plenty for all of us. The Mac and cheese was creamy, but I couldn’t really taste the bacon. Personally I would have preferred more cheese flavor bit others in the group enjoyed it. Our food came fairly quickly. While my salad had a good variety of greens, the dressing(lemon thyme vinaigrette) was very disappointing. It came already dressed, but all I could taste was oil. I asked for an additional cup, but sadly it was bland and oily as well. I didn’t see any thyme in it either. I tried some of the hot wings. They were on the small to medium size. Sauce was fairly generic. Again, good but not great. Burgers looked good, and I tried some of the«bacon bacon» burger. Yum! I’m not sure I’d call it cooked pink, but was still juicy and flavorful. Overall a decent experience. Good, but not great. Food gets 3 stars, but I’ll add 1 more for good service.

Not sure how to rate this… service was great, food was delicious: BUT… The table was wooden and was obviously wiped with musty rag the smell was apparent to us right away but the longer we sat it was just gross. Seriously made a great meal… well: not so much the waitress was informed so hopefully this is taken care of!

This is a great change from what used to be at Toftrees. Great feel & look. Menu has a variety of options & the burgers and hard shakes are delicious. It is a bit pricey & I hate to say it but the service needs some work. I have been there several times and it takes the waiters awhile to get drinks, take orders, check in, etc.

This restaurant is solid bar food but expensive for the offerings. The service was very good once the servers stopped arguing about where to seat us. The items ordered by our table were: Pierogies — pretty good Fried Pickles — yum French Onion Soup — excellent Kale & Quinoa Salad — boring and bland 5 Grilled Cheese Sandwich — yum The Epicurean Burger — good but overpriced Field Burger — good Bacon Burger — good Like I said, good bar food but overpriced.

I have been to The Field 4 times now and each experience has had some pretty negative aspects. The first time it was my boyfriend and I and we were able to sit out on the back deck. It was a gorgeous evening out and the view was phenomenal. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgable, but when it started getting busier inside, she disappeared for about 20 – 30 minutes and we had zero service. Our food was delicious, so no complaints there. The second time we went, there was a group of 6 of us. Our server was very friendly and knowledgable for the most part. However, one person in our party was served the entirely wrong burger and had to wait another 20 minutes for his meal. My boyfriend had a sub par salmon sandwich. The table fries are always a hit, as are the other appetizers. The third time was fairly unremarkable and the service was quite good. This last time held a lot of disappointments. We had a party of 11 people there and the server handled the large group well. However, several of us were overcharged for our beers. It was my understanding and this was verified on your Facebook page, that all draft beers are $ 3 during Happy Hour. However, I was charged $ 8 for a Rusty Rail beer. Another member of our party was overcharged for an alcoholic rootbeer by $ 4. My boyfriend and I both ordered the Burger of the Day, which was the Greek. I ordered mine no pink, his was pink. Both of our burgers came out without half of the toppings they were supposed to come with. This was unacceptable. The toppings were then brought out on one plate, with both of our toppings and the toppings were cold. The burger is supposed to come assembled. This place is supposed to be known for its burgers. Clearly needs a lot of work. On top of that, several burgers at the table were charred on the outside. That is also unacceptable. This place needs a LOT of improving before I’ll be back. Has some potential but there are definitely some issues that need to be worked out.

This is a burger restaurant that doesn’t even do burgers well. Four of us went tonight and split onion rings, fries, and fried pickles for appetizers and each got our own burgers. The onion rings and fried pickles were fine, but the fries were overcooked and were comprised of 50% decent pieces of potato and 50% strung-out burnt potato skins. As for the burgers — my fiancé got a Lancaster burger that he said would have been delicious had it not been overcooked. I ordered the sliders as my entrée and was unpleasantly surprised to find that all three tiny, half-dollar sized sliders were burnt to a crisp. It was i-n-e-d-i-b-l-e. It took almost 30 minutes to get our three appetizers, and service here was not great overall. The waitress was not very knowledgeable about the bar’s offerings and my water glass was constantly empty, despite half a dozen runners/servers/hostesses standing around watching TV most of the time. I find it ironic that burgers are their main offering and yet both our burgers were overcooked. There aren’t many other options on the menu! This place has some growing and fixing to do.

My cousin and I went here on Monday, November 16 for dinner. I must say I was very happy with my meal and the service. Our server Ashley was very attentive and courteous. She was never away from our table for less than five minutes and always asked if we needed anything. Now, to the food. The MapleGlazed peanuts were so delicious. We liked them so much, we ordered an extra cup of them. The Quinoa salad I had was also interesting as it’s something I never had before. It was a pure curiosity piece as I never had Quinoa. I was so happy with my decision. I will have it again. I wish someone else told me about it. I’m in love with it now. Now, let’s look at the entrée. I had a burger called The Rafter. It was turkey burger with a Thanksgiving theme to it as it had gravy, sweet potatoes etc on it. I hope it’s not a limited edition because I want to devour it later down the road. The tomato and cucumber salad I had with it was good too. I know it’s an afterthought in a way, but there isn’t much to say on a tomato and cucumber salad. This review wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t mention the smores hard milkshake my cousin had. She raved about the alcohol mix with the traditional smore taste. When it comes down to it I’m giving a perfect score because there really were no flaws with this first go around. We’ll see what happens next time. For now, it’s definitely a five star review and a huge thank you to the staff.

Just had the burger sliders, bucket of fries and 10 wings. The sliders were great, the meat was very good. The fries were over cooked a little bit. The wings are the smallest wings I’ve seen in a long time, must have been baby chickens. Out of 10 wings there were only 2 legs. Wing Sauce was good but not worth the money. Until they get bigger wings I won’t get them again, cheaper other places for the money. I’m hoping that they work the bugs out since they are new. Il be back to try the full size burgers at some point soon.
