Horrible not what I expected took forever when the place was empty food wasn’t not good

I eat here every Friday. Everyone is so nice. I order ½ chicken and fries and when they see me get out of the car they are already preparing it. Chicken has the perfect amount of spices on it. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I’ve been here a number of times. The chicken is awesome, it’s barbecued over charcoal… It’s so tasty. My go to place for my «grab and go» meal for the family. The price is right also. A must try!

I’ve been craving a Spanish style food for a long time in Staten island and when i came across forest BBQ, wow. I ordered the Ribs, chicken and shrimps. Yes they don’t put BBQ when cooking… imagine how the fire pit would look when they cook? The BBQ sauce and Hot sauce is full of flavor on the chicken or Ribs. The rice and beans are delicious. What I truly love about this place is all the food is fresh never stored in a freezer or yesterdays refrigerated food like Boston market. The price is competitive given the food is made fresh every single day. The place is very clean and the owners are wonderful. The limeade/​Parcha drinks are sweet and delicious. For people who are concerned about portions their whole chicken with rice and beans is $ 15 consist of a whole chicken cut in pieces very similar to Boston Markets whole chicken with 3 sides. Why can’t people understand that? You can feed two BIG people or a family of 3 (Mom, Dad, and Child under 12).
I added the tostones (Yellow Plantains) and asked for a side of garlic… wow absolutely delicious! yes, I will be back!!! They only deliver within 1 – 2 mile radius… definitely recommend ordering over the phone and picking up your piping hotttt meal (yes, very hot) which won’t get cold if you had to travel to the Bronx. lol.

The food is ok but if you are expecting portions like you get in Newark NJ barbecue joints forget it, they are about half the size for the same price. The people in their seem nice and are happy to serve you but, I’m not sure 18 bucks for something I could get for half the price for a few miles away in jersey. Maybe it’s a Staten Island thing, higher rents? Higher utlity? Don’t know but, just disappointed when your used to one thing and get another.

Got the chicken and rice and it was really good. The people were very nice too.

Statten Island has a treasure here. Great food, fresh ingredients, clean and very friendly people.

I went for lunch. The chicken wasn’t very good and they are stingy with napkins. Was hoping it was going to be better.

Forest BBQ was nothing to rave about. Even though it was hot & freshly made I felt it was a bit bland and overcooked. I expected a more savory flavored BBQ n i was left wanting. The chicken wasn’t very flavorful & the ribs were worse. The tostones and rice and beans were the stars for me. I’m glad I tried it but I won’t be in any rush to go back.

Highly recommend this place great chicken and ribs… Get an order of Tostones (plantain chips) ask for some fresh lemonade.

If I had to describe this place it would be «consistent.» This place is consistently good and consistently delicious. They don’t have good days and bad days. When you go you can know the quality of the food and the distinct and mouth watering flavors will be there just as you remember from your last visit. Been going here for about a year. I brought along some coworkers early on and they love it too. My bosses also go. Now my coworkers and I look forward to it and go every week for chicken, ribs, and rice and beans. The chicken skin is so uniquely flavorful and the ribs are delicious as well. They do have barbecue sauce and hot sauce but I don’t think it needs it and never use, except near the end of the meal when it gets a little dry. Very distinctly delicious flavors. And the rice and beans are always good. The service is good and the owners and workers are all very nice. You gotta experience it, there’s nothing like it on the island.

Let’s see were to start. Beans had no flavor, they are from a can. Chicken was dry and no flavor. The BBQ ribs, if you could call that ribs had no taste hard and chewy. It’s sad how people that can cook have the opportunity to have a restaurant.

Been here a handful of times and I still love their grilled salmon and homemade limeade. Delicious! Their portions are huge so you can share with another person. Try their garlic chicken or ribs. So good!!!

These reviews are insane. People are so hard up for good Portuguese bbq on this Island that they put up with this putrid crap they call food! Went here on a Saturday, the place was empty (I should have known better). No food was being cooked on the rotisseries behind the counter (a bad sign). I ordered their garlic chicken breast with rice and beans full order. There were 5 small strips of chicken breast, the rest was all rice and beans that were from a can. My wife is Cuban, I know rice and beans and this was probably canned Goya,.She knew immediately that it was canned beans,.If there was garlic on the chicken, it must have been lightly sprinkled garlic powder. It was hands down the worst tray of food we’d ever eaten. Our family of 3 was starving after eating this RIPOFF ($ 15 plus tax).
Do yourselves a favor, go across the Goethals Bridge to Elizabeth NJ and get a tray of anything from Stephanies BBQ. You get enough food to feed five for $ 14 and the food is delicious. Forest BBQ is worse than dog food!

I had a hair appointment next door and reading the name made me crave some mac n’cheese and ribs so after I got my hair done I decided to get food here. To my surprise, this is not a Southern bbq place– it’s Portuguese! I have never had Portuguese bbq food, but it was delicious! It is a small place, seemingly family owned and operated. The workers were so sweet and happy that we liked our meal. I shared a full rack of ribs with white rice, black beans and tostones. The portions were really big, we even had leftovers. The ribs don’t have bbq sauce on them, but they give you a squirt bottle with bbq sauce. I was very delighted by my experience and I will be back!

I absolutely loved the food here!!! It’s a family run place and everyone was so friendly. The food tasted really good. The servings are large and the price was inexpensive.
They also make their own fresh limeade. (It’s lemonade but made with lime instead of lemons) which was so good I had one to go. Will definitely come back!

Delivery was fast, food was piping hot and came in under 20 minutes. Combos are pretty big, a decent amount of meat and a lot of sides.
Food was ok, but a different style then I was used to.
