Love this place ! Try to catch croissants in the morning or have brunch or dinner. The best crème bruee all around. You will be back for more

For party of 4, $ 60 includes 22% tips. Didn’t realize my $ 40 groupon expired yesterday, so the chef deduct $ 17 off(which is purchased prx) from the bill, instead of $ 40. The chucks of salad was served rotten. Seems just removed from packaging without washing n directly serve to customer. Coffee is weak, no taste. Food is ok. Door is open, lots flies n bake good are sitting on trays without cover at kitchen area. Service is ok. can be better!

Stuff floating in my water. A good chunk of the salad that was serves was rotten. No FDA grade on window. Little kid wondering around the kitchen; pretty sure that’s a huge health code violation.

If I could give zero stars I would. I had purchased a groupon during the summer to try the place. The groupon was for dinner for two. I called in July to make a reservation and was told dinner service starts end of September. Just a few days ago, my boyfriend calls to make a dinner reservation and was told dinner ended in summer. Then he was told they were only closed Monday’s and when he went on Tuesday they were closed. Still willing to give the place a chance, I went with my boyfriend and mother for lunch today. We arrive and it takes waitstaff a long time to even approach us to give us menus. A big caution of warning: there is no food grade posted and there is a little child running around behind the counter with occasional squealing. We finally order and wait for food to arrive. Service was kind of slow. When food arrived, my mothers salad had many wilted/mushy leaves throughout and the egg n ham crêpe was semi burnt. And not well made either. Other places such as Alor Café makes vastly superior crepes. The water had particles floating not through it so my boyfriend and mother were terrified of drinking from it. We «finish» our meal and try to ask for the check. It took us a while to find waitstaff to even ask for the check. The staff tells us the bill was $ 36 something and that we must purchase to $ 40 and cannot leave unless we do so. I even said can we just pretend I ordered and leave it at that? No. So we were forced to buy two more desserts for $ 4. Then the bill arrives to a total of $ 43.60. Now I have to shell out extra money all for food I did not want or enjoy. Never ever coming back to this horrid establishment with terrible food and absent service. Couldn’t get their open service times correct, misleading information, horrible food, terrible service, and«must buy» attitude.

Impressive menu; HORRIBLE service. We were puzzled by such low standards of customer care in NY in 2015 — truly a disgrace; do not waste your time and money.

This is a gem in Staten Island! Authentic French food cooked by an authentic Parisian who is friendly and loves feedback on his food. The place is nice and cozy. BYOB. I was thrilled that this establishment was on Groupon otherwise I may have never gone. It made it more affordable because when you are done with appetizer, entrée and desert you’re looking at well over $ 100(before tip) Everything I’ve ever had here was amazing. The pasty puff usually comes with salmon but he substituted shrimp for me Delicious cheese fondue and great deserts. The crème brûlée is my absolute favorite. In addition to the restaurant there is a mini market where you can purchase amazing chocolates, pastries, home made butter, home made potato chips and many other items. Everyone should go in to either eat or shop to bring home.

Our first time eating here and while the food was okay, the service was horrible. The croissant was really good though. Our bacon was burnt. While it wasn’t even busy, our food took about an hour. The couple sitting next to us left because the food was taking so long. The tables would not get cleaned up. The chefs wife gave the customer an attitude that she was about to plate it because she makes everything from scratch. However there is stuff premade(I.e, quiche) that just needed to be reheated. It also seems like they run a daycare in the kitchen. The layout could also be improved. Very sad because the place has potential.

I am really not sure why a lot of people are complaining about this place! We LOVE it every single time and we go here and we go at least 5 times a year. And every time we are impressed by Chef Laurants cooking! The food is authentic French. Yes, place is comparatively small, but let’s remember, this place is a backbone of America, this country is built on small businesses like this. This business is family operated; yes, once in a while chefs kid runs through the restaurant, but he isn’t screaming like a lot of kids, he is very quiet, he is just stepping out to see his mommy(who is a lovely woman by the way). I think maximum capacity as about 25 – 30 people, but I might be wrong. They also have sort of little store inside where they sell imported French food and beverage, which is fantastic. Chef Laurent also bakes and makes chocolate candy and jam on the premises, so you might stop by here to pick up something! The menu options differ, they run specials for Occasions(Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines, Mother’s Day, etc.), but pricing is on the pricey side, but worth every single penny! Manhattan prices for taste like this would be much much higher… Maybe people forgot how Manhattan prices are for authentic French Restaurants. Or maybe they just don’t know how real French food tastes. I would know, I used to go to college in France. Regarding Groupon, maybe people who feel uncomfortable using Groupon(because they are feeling cheap) are just cheap snobs themselves… This restaurant offers Groupon to attract people, so no one should be feeling uncomfortable with that. Thanks to Chef Laurant and Lovely Family, we have special place like this in New York! Merci Bien, je vous aime!

Oh my god, I absolutely love this place. It’s so cozy with a decadent homey taste. The potato gnocchi in the portobello cream sauce with shrimp is TODIEFOR. I also can’t get enough of their bakery goods. My favorite had to be the hot chocolate soufflé, you have to order it at least 30 minutes ahead but it’s so worth it. Can’t wait to come here for brunch ^_^

Wife and I really really wanted love this French café. With a great deal of Italian restaurants on Staten Island we loved the option of other great food. Went last night with wife and we are never going back. Will start that food was good but very expensive. Why am I paying Manhattan prices in Staten Island? We had two soups, two dinners, one bottle of carbonated drink and two soufflés for $ 131.00 not counting tip. The service is slow as molasses going up hill in winter. Will not mention that’s it’s cold inside saw a customer with a coat on. I guess heat is additional on the bill. You have to order two soufflés per table(scam since each is $ 16.00).Food was good but not worth the price or service. To make matters worse, we had ordered a soda a can of coke which we didn’t open. Thinking we paid for everything with a $ 131.00 and a nice tip we walk out with our soda. To be chased by the owners wife saying she didn’t charge us for the soda she needs it back. Are you serious you cheap tightwad. Been to restaurants with better food and definitely cheaper who would gladly give you the soda. You just lost a customer keep your cheap ways to yourself, good luck with that.

Delicious! A little more expensive than I anticipated, but worth every cent! The chef comes out to take the order, and makes everything in house. I had the best French onion soup, and a delicious quiche. For desert we had an amazing Nutella crêpe. I hear they have an amazing brunch that I can’t wait to try!

Food is incredibly authetic. My boyfriend has spent months in France, and couldn’t stop complimenting the food. I couldn’t give too shits — all I know is, the food rocked my socks. Expensive, yes, and very small restaurant, but worth every penny.

ANABSOLUTEMUSTVISITWHENVISITINGNEWYORK — great, no not great, amazing food and amazing service and everything is so great I just love going here :) the environment is so nice, however I recommend getting a reservation because there are about 15 – 20 seats in the restaurant even for breakfast and lunch and dinner, after 8:30pm not required

Another delicious dinner at The French Tart! The portions here are huge and delicious! My husband and I shared an appetizer, dinners and desserts. There was so much food, we needed to pack some up some to take home! This restaurant is not to be missed on SI, it’s definitely worth the visit! Allow me to mention that the giant shrimp Provençal and encrusted pork chops were exceptional! Kudos to Chef Laurent — exceptional dinner once again.

Went here for a really great brunch with my husband. It’s BYOB, so bring a bottle of champagne and ask for some OJ to make your own Mimosas. :) The merguez sausage and scrambled egg crêpe was just delicious! Comes on a buckwheat crêpe and a small side salad. So big I had to take it home. Such a nice little neighborhood spot. They even have a little grocery there with French mustard, jam, etc. Be sure to take home some pastries too.

How is this place not booked 3 months in advance? Excellent restaurant. The tasting menu is fantastic. Don’t leave without taking home some tarts and croissants.

I have been to Laurents’ for a number of years. First, FOODISEXCELLENT. Laurent is a man who knows food. This is what keeps us going back and literally eat out of his hands. It’s great that there is at least one real French restaurant on this island. It is sad to see people go on and on about the price, as if that’s the only criteria for a decent meal. Yes, it’s a no brainer that a decent French meal will set you back more than Chinese take-out and pizza. Now here comes the however part, Laurent and his wife are not the most warmest people. Yes they will push you to order beverages, appetizers and desserts. But if you just can’t eat that much, or budget minded, just stand your ground and politely decline, also remind them that they need to bring you water. The point is, the place is about food worth splurging on and not much else, focus on the food, eat and pay. Bön appetit!
