I recently tried to set up a hair and makeup trial for my wedding(need hair and makeup for myself and 2 bridesmaids). Here was my exact quote: «Ok for make up is 100 each and for hair is 300 bride 200 any others. Blow out start a 50»…So that’s $ 400 for hair and makeup(traveling 30 min to northern NJ)…When I stated that that was pricy but I was willing to do it for just myself, here was my response: «Hey u no wat goin all a way to jersey for one person is not worth it for me sorry I only say yes because it was a big party even my make up artist say no for one person!! sorry» — real professional, not even a negotiation. Simply refusing to set up a trial… nice! Sorry to bother you!

I had a hair emergency one afternoon. I had to get out of my shower with shampoo still in my hair. I called House of Trends to see if I could come in asap & they accommodated me right away. Nicolette, who is a junior stylist, blew out my hair. She was so nice & my blow out was perfect. She charged $ 25.00. A week later Jana cut my hair & did a good job as well. Hair cut was a little pricey $ 65.00 for just layers. Then I went to Michelle for eyebrow tinting. She was super nice! She waxed my eyebrows & tinted them. Came out to $ 19.00 for both & she also told me once she gets my eyebrows to where they should be I won’t need the tinting. I do recommend the tinting if you have light eyebrows or barely there brows. And she was very nice & great at what she does!

Everyone raves about this place but I was not impressed at all. I went here as part of a bridal party. First of all the girl on the phone was not helpful whatsoever. I called twice to confirm my appointment(because she didnt sound so sure the first time I called) and both times she told me a different time to come in! When I showed up that day, it was like a factory in there. They dont offer you a drink or even care to say anything to you. I sat in the makeup chair and she looked at me and said«what are we doing» — no «hi, I am so and so» I dont event know what the girl’s name was who did it! And she definitely did not apply enough makeup. I could have done it myself at home. Very unimpressed — I have gotten much better makeup applications at MAC in the mall. Then I went upstairs for hair where i was literally beaten up with a brush and curling iron. The guy was so rough and again not warm ATALL. He looked annoyed to have to be doing my hair and seemed to be rushing me through. I wasn’t really pleased with the final result and my hair started to curl and frizz an hour after I left. For the amount of money I spent I felt taken advantage of. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. It may have been good at one point but it isn’t worth the money or lack of service. I go to Mancini Giuffre on Page Ave and they are amazing.

Terrible with customer service. They can never accommodate you with the waxing. You should call 3 weeks before if you want them to which is insanity. And also you’ll show up and your specific person who you booked the appt with isn’t there and they also don’t call toy to tell you shes out either they’ll just make you show up and take whoever for the waxing. They always say Irena is booked or sick, well then if Michelle the owner is booked as well maybe it’s time for a new waxer person who does only the waxing. One time one of the makeup artists was sick and the owner, straight from her mouth said she was afraid to call the brides to tell them ! That’s insanity to me. Also one time I get there and my waxer starts doing someone’s makeup. Well thanks for booking her with makeup the same time you booked my appointment. And I had to wait 40 mins for her to be finished. She should have taken me first to get me out of there. And most importantly they shouldn’t have overbooked her at the front desk. Sad to say but my patience and many others I have spoken to has run out with this salon. It’s not what it used to be. They take on more than they can handle.

Very sad to say but this salon is not what it used to be. I’m over them. I swore by this salon from day 1– every event I needed hair & makeup done I went here & was happy every single time loving everything. However, the girls that made that salon what it is are no longer there. I used Kay but she is no longer there, SHEISAMAZING but then got pregnant. If I couldn’t get her I’d use Jessica, the owner, but good luck getting an appointment with her, especially now. Last 2 times I needed hair done I was NOT happy at all, like NOT even close. 1 of those appointments being a very simple style that I could’ve done myself– she just did whatever she wanted. I won’t mention names because I hear she’s amazing with color so I wont slander her name, but maybe she should just stick to color. My make up is always done by Irena– LOVEHER! I’ve been using her for sooo long, she knows what I want, so make up is pretty straight forward. I also use Irena for eyebrows, she is a true artist & knows how they should be shaped. She corrected my eyebrows after years of being messed by threading in the mall. She will now be the only reason for me stepping into that salon. My only complaint with make up though is that they use CVS brands(cover girl, Maybelline, etc…). I’m sorry but i’m paying you to do my make up professionally I feel like they should use a better quality of make up. Unfortunately as much as I love Irena, I will be on the search for the next year for a new salon & make up artist because I am getting married and refuse to use them for my wedding. To use those brands of make up for a 4 hour party or something, fine, whatever, but I want quality make up used that’s made to last 12+hour on my wedding day. Very unfortunate. Which also I can’t speak for myself but I hear horror stories of bridal parties there due to booking bridal party appointments/over booking, I refuse to take that chance on my wedding day. And my last rant is about the front desk, there is a girl who is soo nasty to everyone. I hear the same thing from others so I know it’s not just me. In person, on phone, morning, night, EVERY time she is nasty for no reason. She should not be working with the public. There is no need to be nasty to people. I don’t know how/why she’s still there when this is a common complaint I hear a lot about this salon. Even a simple voicemail to confirm an appointment she’s just rude. Last time I was there I was waiting to pay as she just ignored me and texted away. The other receptionist is a sweetheart though. On to the next salon…

I went to House of Trends on June 30th to get my hair and makeup done as a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding. For what I’d heard about them their location and interior décor are nothing special. It’s a residential street and the interior doesn’t give a upscale vibe. For $ 195 + tip I have to say I was extremely pleased with Nasha(hair) and Irinia(makeup). Usually when I show a hairdresser a picture of the style I want I never get what I ask for, but this time House of Trends delivered 100%. I received compliments all day and on the pictures taken. The prices are a bit much, and I would’ve been upset if I didn’t like the results, but I have to say, the next time I need hair and makeup, I’m going to House of Trends.

Ive been to a bunch of hair salons but this one tops them all. I have been going here for over a year and I cant be happier with the results each time. Every hair stylist is amazing and you will not be disappointed! Irina does a fantastic job on facials and eyebrows. The use chocolate wax! What gets better than that?! Their makeup artists especially Michelle are so talented I use her for every special occasion as well as her sister Jessica for my hair. Book your appointment now!
