Massage Envy – Staten Island

Walking into the main area looked like most of the other Massage Envy locations I’ve been to. The staff was nice and quickly checked me in. The sitting area was a sitting area. Nothing special. I’m usually 10 minutes or so before my appointment, so I usually wait until my masseuse calls for me.
I’ve tried at least 8 different masseuses here at this location and they’ve been very mediocre. They’ve treated me nice, but they really did not fix my issues. They gave me a semi temporary fix. Their technique is usually just generally free up the knots and temporarily relieve pressure from sore muscles. Kind of a band-​aid to the main issue.
I haven’t had any success finding a great masseuse at Massage Envy Staten Island that I can count on to go to twice a month to rehibilitate my shoulder as well as take the knots out. They really need to hire more passionate masseuses that want to help people feel better. I gave it three stars because although not all of them are horrible, but they need to get more of the
«good» ones there so the ones that are good, aren’t always booked 2 months in advance. I’m looking elsewhere.

Just ok, nothing special at all. The fact that they cut your massage by good 15 – 20 min each visit sucks! Would rather spend same money on massage elsewhere. tons of local spas in the area that offer better massages.

Facials with Dominique are great! Also, love Fran, Anetta and Matt for massage!

I’ve been going to massage envy on SI for over a year. The downfall is when you get the membership, you’re signing a year contract. Meaning you will pay $ 74 a month for a full year, which sucks when you only work part time. However, you have the option to freeze your account for 6months or you can move a payment to later that month.
The staff is always nice, respectful, and courteous. I’ve had several massages for various people. My favorite so far is Steve! Which is saying a lot, because having a strange man touch you is not my idea of relaxation. There’s something about Steve though. I feel super relaxed & that hour & a half massage is the best thing on this island!
So final words, if you have $ 74 a month then absolutely do it. Even if you don’t use it every month you can stock pile your services and get 1 ½ hour massages, or 2hour massages, & $ 10 facials.

I ‘ve just had a full Body Massage and a Facial at Massage Envy with Marilyn and Linda, outstanding, and I should know, I’ve tried other places and left disappointed, they are both very professional took their time tending to every detail, nothing left to chance but more so, the way they greet you, smile, talk to you, treated nice and with consideration, they do not take their Customers for granted, «Little things mean a lot’ and that’s me, I notice everything and appreciate, I left a completely different person from the one who came in, Thank you.

My masseuse smelled like cigarettes, she didn’t mention where she felt tension in my muscles and didn’t focus on those areas. She seemed like she was in a rush to finish. Won’t be going back

I came here with my girlfriend a few months ago for a couples massage. I got the deep tissue treatment, while she received a normal massage. I paid for an hour massage for each of us, and the massages only lasted 45 minutes. My next complaint is regarding my masseuse (I wish I could remember her name). I filled out a pre massage form, which states what body parts you want to be massaged and not touched, etc. and she completely disregarded everything I included on that form. I was very skeptical that this was a deep tissue massage. I even questioned it afterwards and the masseuse confirmed it was indeed deep tissue. This was my first massage so I didn’t really have anything to compare it with. until last week while I was on vacation in Jamaica and received a massage that blew this so called massage out of the water. In addition to my poor massage, my girlfriend had neck pain for months after getting her massage. This is not normal!
I sent an email to management of my complaints and they responded by telling me I didn’t pay for deep tissue. How can they say that when I clearly told them my masseuse confirmed it with me and my card statement says so. Horrible service and management. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. I wouldn’t go back even if you gave me a free massage. I’m currently searching for a new place.

I am a current member and have been for several years. Over the years I’ve experienced several types of massages/​facials with a variety of therapists and have narrowed it down to two favorites, one of which is leaving now. Overall I am very happy with my membership and staff is very friendly. The monthly membership is approx. $ 60 plus tax (tip excluded) and is a good value for people who will continue to get massages on a regular basis, otherwise your money may be better spent elsewhere if you only need a massage every few months, as nonmember prices tend to be on par with other high end massage places. Nonmembers can try is out for the member price for their first time and will be asked if they’d like to join after their session. Compared to other places, the member price is worth the benefits. Suggested tip is based on nonmember prices which is higher. You’ll see signs posted for recommended amounts based on the % age you’d like to leave.
Membership: I like having this membership and enjoy having a monthly massage. A good thing about the membership is that if you fall on hard times or cannot use the membership, the club will put a temporary hold (i think up to 3 months) on your account where you don’t lose member status, but will not pay or earn massages until the hold has ended. You also earn a $ 1 per appointment that you make in advance after your session, that you keep. This can be used towards add-​ons and products. The actual massage credits can be «banked» for future use, which is great of you can’t make it one month, then you can have a longer massage later on. They don’t expire. You can also transfer a massage to a nonmember for a $ 10 fee.
Massage: Geri and Beth always do a great swedish massage. They have different techniques and always assess what is needed for each session. They do a great job of providing the best massage to suit my needs. It usually lasts a total of 50 – 55 minutes which I’ve experienced at other local businesses that offer similar services. Ive also had a hot stone massage by another therapist that was nice, but not worth the extra charge. The prenatal massage was nice and a good perk to have while pregnant. That did not cost extra.
Facial: the facials I’ve experienced have been good, but I rarely pay the up charge because a massage is usually more important. I’ve had some great facials at other places, so this is not my first pick unless money is short and I can use one of my massage credits (already paid for). They use Murad products and are not pushy about purchasing them at the end.
Add-​ons/​upcharge: you can add certain extras like aromatherapy, a foot scrub etc. They usually cost around $ 10. I tried the foot scrub and it was nice, but not so different from what you get from a pedicure. I have not tried any other add-​ons.

I dont like this place at all. its not good at all. Massages suck and the facials are not good the steem machine is dirty. i got sick last time i went. grossssss and workers are low class and manger is a jerk.

After over a year away from massage envy in Staten Island I have returned. I received a massage about 2 weeks ago and found the front desk staff and therapist to be friendly and well trained. I am going back again today. I have read some recent bad reviews and I do hope my experience will be good. I travel a lot and visit many massages envy’s and this is the only one that I have had problems with. Will update my review later.

I’ve gotten a few massages here and despite high hopes for the place, I’ve been pretty underwhelmed. The massages are always just OK. Front desk people are perfectly nice, but misplaced my paperwork several times. I’ve never been taken into the relaxation room to unwind before or after my massage. But all this could be overlooked. The real issue is that the therapists routinely cut short your massages by 10 – 15 minutes. After the first time this happened, I started timing the massages and without fail, I am out of the room five minutes before my massage is supposed to end. Regardless of everything else, this ruined it for me. Too bad, as they have a very convenient location.

I was given a gift certificate by a friend, that included a free ½ hour, but could only be used at this specific location where they purchased the card. I am a member at a Massage Envy in NJ, and enjoy my location very much. But I wanted to take advantage of the gift, so I booked an hour massage with the 30 minute upgrade. I arrived about 15 minutes early, knowing I would have to fill out paperwork, as it is not my regular location. I have visited many Massage Envy spas, and once that paper work was finished I was always shown to the quiet waiting area to start to relax before. I was not here.
My massage therapist reviewed my areas that I would like to focus on, and off we went. I was lying in the table, and felt that it was a disjointed massage. He was going from neck/​shoulders, the feet then back, then feet, some hamstring. No calm rhythmic feeling, that I have received in 40 + plus massages I have received in my lifetime. The therapist spent a LARGE portion of my time doing this, then told me to turn over for a very brief once over on my arms and lower legs. The room was extremely chilly, and having my arms be exposed made me even colder. I have never jumped up off a table so quickly after a therapist left the room after a massage.
The front desk, did not ask how I would like to take care of paying and immediately used my membership credits, rather than the gift card I indicated when I checked in, that I would be using.
Just feel that the aura, of the location is not calming. I am not trying to be hyper critical, but really feel some changes really could be made that would benefit customers, with a more peaceful visit.

Nice staff, great massage and facial, but what ruins it is their pushing sales pitch to become a member of their monthly membership!

I like their manicure and facial treatments. I got a packages for everything and feel it certanly worth of spent money.
don’t understand why I hear so many bad reviews about this place. Anyway I glad I got found them. it wasn’t too difficult cause they are located right next to my house)) but however for good quality treatments I am ready to go even to Sought Bronx)))
I’ve already made appointment for hair removal for tomorrow. I’ve done with bikini zone and it’s fantastic! there is nothing anymore from the first laser treatment. now I am continuing with legs. it def will take a little longer but it really seems this gonna be my last one for upper legs and no shaving anymore))

Got the membership. No bad. But I expected much more from this place.

I recently purchased a gift certificate for my sister. The gift was for a one-​hour massage and included tax and a tip. It was $ 75.00. My sister has a severe case of neuropathy and I thought that she would probably use it for a reflexology massage.
I just spoke with her and got a very upsetting report about her visit on Tuesday, June 5^th. She said that the first thing that happened was that the people working at the front reception were incredibly rude to her. Then, she was told that her gift certificate entitled her to a massage and ½ hour reflexology treatment. I have no idea why she was told that.
The massage itself was upsetting. She told the massage therapist (I think her name is Saskia or something that sounds like that) certain areas that should not be massaged. Felice has a great many physical challenges. The therapist chose to ignore her request and she was forced to physically move her hands away from areas that were in pain.
Then the therapist began lecturing her on her diet. My sister is overweight and this is connected to her physical problems. Her body mass was not something that the massage therapist should have addressed without being asked to. The upshot was that Felice left your spa feeling emotionally and physically worse than when she came in.
To top all of this off, she was charged $ 25.00! She is living on disability and this was money that was to go towards her living expenses.
I will make every effort to spread the word about the terrible experience that this «spa» provided.

I really like this place. First, there’s ample parking in front. It’s so convenient to make an appointment. They really try to accommodate your schedule. When I arrive they offer me beverages immediately. I love the massage rooms. It’s so private. The staff is very professional. The pricing is great too even though you have to sign up for a minimum of 6 months. But I feel really pampered when I come in for my monthly massages.

BEWARE! Once they have your credit card/​bank info on file, it is almost impossible to get them to stop charging your account. AFTER the 3^rd time they charge your card they call you to let you know. They make sure to call you after so you cannot put any hold on your account before they charge. You will never get a credit either, I can assure you. Couple this with constant rule changes, and this exprience continues to be a nightmare. They are still calling me telling me I never cancelled my account (which I did) and my account is going to be delinquent. Meanwhile they have 3 massages on my account I never used. I even told them to keep them when I cancelled! This is a massage parlor! You are supposed to be able to relax. I will be contacting my lawyer immediately following any deliquency on my credit from massage envy. You are much better off finding a different spa.
