Midas

As I write this review I’m on my third hour waiting in this hell hole. Need a brake cleaning and two new front tires. My car was one of the first to be brought in. They told me they have the tires in stock. Ok shouldn’t be long. Wrong. 420 pm almost close to there closing time and I’m still stranded here. This will be the last time I come here. They take forever. My only hope is as I write this that by the time they do finish if ever that they don’t magically charge me the labor fee times 3. 90 bucks an hour is steep especially since my car sat there for 3 hours with no one working on it barely.
Update: I am now on hour 4 approaching hour 5. To all people reading this review I say $#@! this place. I wish there was less then 1 star to give.

You ever get a gut feeling not to trust someone, well this place is it. Screw this place…
1^st time I went to this place, I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT for a 10am oil change. I was there til 1:30pm. WHAT IS THE POINT OF TAKING AN APPOINTMENT, AND EVEN CALLING TO CONFIRM MY APPOINTMENT, IF YOUR NOT GOING TO HONOR IT! I went to the place, guy said within the hour, I said ok, no problem. wound up being 3 and a half hours.
then months later, I get an email, $ 5 coupon off oil change at midas. So stupidly enough, I decided to give this place an extra chance. An oil change at meineke is $ 19.99, then with $ 5 filter fee + TAX, the whole thing comes to like $ 26. At midas they offer the same deal, so I figured with a $ 5 off coupon, i’ll be paying $ 20 instead of 25 for an oil change… WRONG. The guy tells me (the owner joel) that the $ 5 off coupon isn’t for the special price, and can only be used on the $ 40 oil change, so it will cost me more money to use the coupon… WHAT!!! lol what kind of business sends someone a coupon, where they will have to spend more to use it? does that happen in the world of opposites or what lol.
I wound up leaving and going up the block to meineke, and paying the same $ 25 price I would of paid at midas anyway, just for the fact that midas lied to me.
oohhh, and almost forgot to mention, the 1 time I did get an oil change there, when my car was relatively new, maybe 15k miles on it, the guy was tryna tell me I need a new air filter.

DOOOOOOOOO NOTTTTTTTTT TRUST THIS PLACE!!!

OMG!!! NO… DO NOT GO HERE!!! I went there today for a muffler job, 6 hours and an oxygen sensor later… when i left I realized my check engine light was on and a sensor that was recently replaced needed to be replaced AGAIN… Torched and cracked by Midas? Wire cut by Midas? The car was fine except the cracked pipe… now engine trouble — hmmmm? STAY AWAY FROM HERE.

So I bring my car in as there seems to be a problem with my radiator and antifreeze system. I got an oil change and new wiper blades. $ 500 bucks after all was said and done. Five days later, I drive my car for about one hour and the car was smoking and spewing antifreeze from the radiator cap. I look underneath the car and there was a POOL of antifreeze. I took a video of the fiasco to show the owner (Joel).
I took a day off from work specifically to see to this problem. I called the previous day and spoke to Joel to let him know I was coming. I arrived at 9:15am and tried to show Joel the video, but he said he didn’t need to see it. I asked him if this was gonna cost me more money? He said he didnt know and that by me asking, I was jumping the gun. He then made an analogy. He said, «thats like sitting in the doctors office waiting room and asking if you need heart surgery». I told him that this was the very reason I brought the car in the first place. I was amazed at the defensiveness displayed by this guy. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Its now been over an hour I’m
the waiting room stranded…

So I went to have my muffler checked on a Saturday morning, this was the closest location to my house. First thing that was really inconvenient were the business hours: Monday-​Friday 8 – 5:30, Saturday closes at 1pm, and closed Sunday… Umm what happen to late night hours for the working folks? Anyways got here at about 9:15 was told it would be an hour before my car was even looked at. I sat and I waited, around 10:45 am the staff started to turn incoming customers away, telling those who had come in that they were booked and to come back Monday. Huh? Where is the customer service? Why are you turning customers away at 10:45, when your operating hours are until 1pm?
Around 12:15 my car finally went back, 10minutes later I was told my muffler was broken, and I needed a brand new one. I asked can it be fixed? (As my father had told me beforehand that it sounded like I just needed to have welding) I was told no, it needed to be replaced. I was given a quote close to 400.00 for the part and labor. The part had to be ordered and I had to put a 150.00 deposit for the work to be started the following Monday. After shopping around I found a place in Brooklyn and was told on a 2008 car with such low mileage; no way should I need a brand new muffler.
I give this Midas 2 stars because when I came in the following Monday to have the 150.00 deposit refunded I had no Problems. Staff kindly refunded the money back to my credit card no questions asked.

I’ve been here for over 4 hours for a brake job that they said would be an hour to an hour and a half… I want to kill someone.

Need something major done to your car? Shop around first. Pep Boys may be more expensive, but they are by far the best shop on Forrest Ave.
Shame on me. Took my car here in 2010. 1.5 yrs later struts needed to be done again?
So I brought the car back. Told me to call when I was bringing the car in so they could order parts. I did that and showed up. No parts. They tell me its a 2 hr job. I call before closing and they tell me to come the next day, instead of telling me that they prob would not get to it before they closed. So I had no vehicle for the night.
I call the next morning and they tell me the car will be ready in an hour to an hour and a half. I walk in the shop at 10am, they tell me the wrong parts were sent. No one could bother to call? Does no one believe in customer service anymore or that maybe a customer’s time is as valuable as theirs? Once the OWNER realized they screwed up, he at least tried to keep me updated. And I still didn’t get out of there until ONE O’CLOCK! The wiat was so bad, one of the other customers had chinese food delivered there!

I was visiting my aunt and her car’s brakes were a squealing mess. I called lots of places and found this service center open on a Sunday! Although it was close to his closing time, he still let me come into the shop. The repair took longer than his working hours, but he stayed late.
His kids and family were there when I went to pick up the car! Talk about a family business.
I always assumed these chain places only did brakes and mufflers but this guy does all kinds of other repairs so make sure to ask for any special services you might need.
