Mother Mousse Bakery

This was the first fondant cake I have ever ordered for an event and mother mousse nailed the design! The cake was amazingly detailed and perfect. My son and his friends were so excited and couldn’t stop staring at it. It was just as delicious too! I will be getting all my cakes here when I want to WOW my guests and I suggest you do too!

I’ve gone to this bakery a few times thinking I’d give it another chance for service — it got worse if that was possible each time. The rainbow cookie cheesecake did taste good and despite the poor service Id go back just to buy it. The cupcakes and rest of pastries that they put out don’t taste very good at all. This place really has potential to become incredible but they need to work at improving their product and personnel.

I’ve been buying their white mousse cake here since 2001. They use to be soooo delicous! The white mousse on the cake was rich, creamy, and to die for. Our family ONLY bought this cake for birthdays! However, sometime in 2008 onwards, they changed something in the mousse, it tasted less rich and more watered down. My entire family including my now deceased grandfather who use to love this cake, were truly disappointed. We purchased the cake many times after 08′ over and over again with hopes that they would change it back but they never did. We concluded that they must’ve taken a hit financially due to the downward spiral of the economy and decided to cheapen out the ingredients in their cake. I am truly saddened that I can no longer eat the cake that I remember. The rest of their pastry are nothing to rave about, cupcakes and cookies taste ok but are overpriced here.

My friend/​coworker raved about this bakery so we ordered a certain amount for our friend’s baby shower. Unfortunately, the baby shower was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances and we couldn’t cancel the order so we decided to give all the cookies to the mom-​to-​be. But we had to try them, lol. So some of us was able to get a couple and they were so delicious!!! Too bad this place is Staten Island because I would be here all the time. And the cookies were so cute!

I wanted to make an appointment to order a small wedding cake for only 12 people. However, I was interested in a two tier cake because the bride wanted to freeze the top tier. I had to call back at least three times for the owner to be in the store in order to schedule the appointment. When I finally called when she was in, I was asked about my budget. Not having any idea how much wedding cakes go for, I said about $ 150. The woman on the phone said I was wasting her time because they start at $ 250 and hung up on me. So, I went to Alfonso’s Bakery and ordered a wedding cake there. Ironically, I spent $ 250. If Mother Mousse had not been so rude, they would have had my business. I guess they do not value their customers.

My mom has been getting cakes at mother mousse since i was a kid. So of course i have been buying my fiancé’s birthday cakes here every year for the past 5 years. Their cakes are so delicious. The almond scones are to die for. They make their iced coffee with coffee ice cubes which just makes the coffee even stronger. Great place! In my eyes, mother mousse can do no wrong.

I had the pleasure of ordering (fairly last minute!) a college graduation cake for 35 from Mother Mousse on Victory Blvd. The process in the store was so pleasant — actually fun — and my daughter was able to choose all of the elements for the «custom» cake and the cost was very reasonable. The end product was ready on time and was absolutely beautiful, with an abundance of fresh flowers artfully arranged on top. Every single guest commented on how delicious the cake was and asked where it was from. This cake (vanilla, with white mousse/​choc chip filling and fresh whipped cream icing) was somehow delicate and decadent at once! Not cloyingly sweet and so fresh! We would return in a heartbeat!

I’m not sure what all the hype is in everyone else’s reviews about this place I was pretty disappointed when I walked in. One display case is filled with overprice cakes the other display case is filled with decorated sugar cookies, where is the variety of cookies you would typically find in a nice New York bakery?
The people who work behind the counter must have an IQ of someone in the middle school. It’s not rocket science to pick out cookies weigh them and then charge the customer the correct amount. One kid charge of the ladies credit card four times because he couldn’t figure out if it went through or not. The other lady tried answering the phones, helping me at the same time, hanging up on someone on the other line, it was just a joke.
I’m not sure how this place has stayed in business this long with no organization going on. I would hate to see this place around the holiday times but then again I love to be a fly on the wall for a good laugh.
Let’s just say I’ll never be coming back.

I’ve been going to Mother Mousse since my oldest son was a baby and he’s 23 now. I normally get their regular birthday cakes and am always happy and satisfied with that. They are truly delicious. My sister who lives in Virginia even says that none of the bakeries in her area can compare to Mother Mousse.
Two weeks ago, I had a birthday party for my 13 year old. I decided to have a specialty cake made and went to Mother Mousse. I spoke with Keri and she was very professional. She took and executed everything I wanted. Her suggestions were great as well. To top it off, the cake tasted good. My son’s friends got a kick out of the likeness of the cake topper to him. I preserved the topper, it too good to eat.

Great cakes. Every single time. Just went in during a blackout and they are handling it like old pros! Can’t wait to bring this country Apple cheesecake to Sunday dinner, and my kids are going to love the adorable cookies I picked up. They did our wedding cake more than 6 years ago and I am still raving about it. Thank you Mother Mousse!

Absolutely delicious chocolate mousse cakes. I had many birthday cakes and I can say I’m not a big fan of birthday cakes but mother mousse cakes are so delicious.

The BEST cakes ever!!!

Average bakery nothing exceptional, I have had cakes, cookies and cupcakes from there and they are average I am hard pressed to recall any baked goods from mother mousse that are remarkable. They do have a great name «mother mousse.»

Terry is the owner of this business, she is the best one ever.
We did our engagement cake, wedding cake and birthdays cakes with her.
She was really nice and we are really amazing.
She gave us a gift certificate free cake for our anniversary!

We purchased their red velvet cake for a graduation party and it was amazing! It was soo fluffy and it definitely makes you crave for more. It was also beautifully decorated. Cream cheese frosting of course, and chocolate covered strawberries. Very simple design but elegant.

This place is insanely good. Cookies, pies, cakes, brittle– if it has sugar these guys make it and do it right. Everything I’ve ever got from here was amazing. The only problem is, it all looks so good– you go for 1 thing and leave with 10. Seriously, if you are on a budget put on blinders when you are in here– this place can get dangerous.

Great bakery on the island. Nice and fresh delicious cakes and pastries. Decent prices. They are open everyday and there is two locations on the island too. They even sell doggy treats too. Fat free, gluten free, sugar free pastries, cookies, brownies and cakes. Only down part is they don’t make any rainbow cookies only in cheesecake style :(wahhh I live and love rainbow cake and cookies.

Their desserts are to die for! They make the cutest cookies for the kids and their mousse sampler is the best around when you are bringing dessert to someone’s house, it has a little of everything. They even make cookies for dogs! My wife purchased her nephew’s first birthday cake there with a picture of his favorite characters at the time, The Wiggles. They have two convenient locations on either side of the island.

Question: Why doesn’t this place have more reviews?
Whenever I go to a birthday party I always enjoy a nice slice of mother mousse cake. It practically melts in your mouth.
Although it may be expensive to some, it is well worth the money.
Their mini mousse cakes are to die for and their black and white cookies are nothing but perfect.
I would def. recommend this place to anyone with a sweet tooth. =)
and to those who do not have a sweet tooth prepare yourselves, you will soon be addicted

I love this bakery ive been going here for years. I even worked here for a couple of years. They use high quality ingredients. The whip cream cakes are always fresh. They always have unique desserts. They are little pricey but def worth it.
