Had high hopes but the food did not live up to the expectation of comfort. Very greasy and not very easy on the stomach. Out of the 6 dishes we did order; the chicken waffles was the winner. Empanadas were overly oily, poutine was not even close to expectations. Drinks were good but skip the drink menu. Staff was pleasant and the décor was interesting. The led lighting left everyone looking greenish blue and like an episode from a bad sci-fi movie.

Wanted to try somewhere different for my birthday… Fun diverse menu. Good food. Good service. Liked décor: quotes painted on walls. Enjoyed the Monkey Burger: cool flavor combinations. Nachos and Tater Tot appetizers were tasty. Went with a group of 12, as stated previously, service was good.

What happened? Empty restaurant and I know why! We shall start with the complimentary chickpeas which were my obsession, now soggy and with clumps of brown sugar that was made a few days ago. Food was overly salty, any chef worth his name knows that salt is not what makes flavor. The burger wasn’t bad and the aioli was pretty good. By the way Staten Island now has a «5 star restaurant» that charges $ 28 for fish tacos! Seriously when the bill came we gagged! I never ever haggle over a restaurant bill but when I am getting robbed, I get a little cranky. Must admit that the really sweet waitress did give us her discount but I will say that I am not coming back here again! Very sad, I used to like it here!

I really really wanted to give this place more stars, but I just can’t give an honest opinion if I did. As for«comfort food» I would not label it as such. as not much was«comforting» or nostalgic. Finding the place in a off hidden strip mall and there aren’t visible signs tell you where it is so we actually drove by it. Parking is also tough even in the middle of the day not during typical foodie hours. The décor and the ambiance is really nice! I like that they had TVs playing sports. The staff was super friendly! Our waitress was impressive! She didn’t need a notepad and had all(party of 7) orders correct! They had a nice selection of draft beers and full bar service. The food– was unfortunately not something any of were overly impressed by. The prices were quite shocking!!! The lobster Mac and cheese was just okay– it actually smelled almost like bad fish(yes I get its lobster but it really just smelled bad). Chili was pretty good– it had an inch of cheese on top like it was French onion soup which I could have done without and then stuffed with onion crisps which made it to be a very small«cup» of soup. The kernel mustard salad with chicken tenders was just that. The chicken was rubbery. But other than there’s nothing spectacular. Chicken wings– just regular… Carribean shrimp– was actually pretty yummy! Macho Nacho– it didn’t have much but it had coleslaw on top which was interesting… I think some spice like jalapeños would have made it better French fries were yummy! Nothing was terrible but nothing was spectacular enough to come back repeatedly. The price was just over the top for the quality. I hope to try it again in the future at least once just to see if maybe this was a fluke.

Food was decent, although it feels like they are trying a little too hard to be unique. Decent selection of tap beers. Wait staff was professional and attentive. Lots of televisions, although with each one on a different game, the competing sound from each one was mildly annoying.

Update(2): This place has went from 5 star to 3 and now I wish I could give it a ZERO. This place has been getting progressively worse. As of my last visit; Chicken waffle appetizer: waffle was still frozen solid… How is could the chief not realize that the waffle was completely frozen to the touch. The waitress was kind enough to replace that appetizer for nacho, which were stale. Second disappointment. Oh and then came out the horrendous entrée. I refuse to believe that the meat wasn’t old as hell. There is no spice or condiment that would make the meat taste as bitter and stink the way it did. An overall summary of our evening there: our party of four left angry, disappointed and with a stomach ache. Our darling waitress really tried to make things up to us, she was as sweet as could be but there’s no way we would return.

This place is terrible! After all the hype about it died down, I decided to check it out. On a Friday night we where the only people in there. The staff was terrible. One waiter was about to take away a half eaten burger that I wasn’t done with. He also took my Coke, half full, and expecting him to refill it, he never did?! The food was ok. The burger was good, extremely messy and the short rib sandwich was tasty. However, someone ordered a sausage pasta dish. Ironically, there was NO sausage. Disappointing.

Saddening to write a bad review for this restaurant since I have had so many great meals here. Maybe they switched chefs or staff? First off putting thing was I called to place an order for pickup and wanted to pre/pay with a card. My husband was coming back from jersey and was going to pick up. The manager(I guess?) got on the phone and said that they couldn’t do that. Restaurant policy. Ok, no problem. Told them my husband would pay for it then upon arrival. When we unwrapped the food when it came home there are many issues. 1. My husband ordered the chicken pot pie sandwich which states on the menu that it had no sesame seeds.(He is allergic). Not to mention he had ordered this before in restaurant and it had no seeds on it. It came on a sesame seed bun. Strike one. 2. There was hair in the fries. Stike two. 3. He could not eat after that so… Strike three. I’m pretty upset because I have had so many great meals there. I really hope this was a fluke because in all honesty if this is how the food is now… nope. Pass. We will go somewhere else.

Picked up an order and usually me and my wife love this place but holy crap this was a disaster today first they got nasty with her on the phone because of pre paying with a credit card then I pick up the food I have a black hair in my French fries I’m bald she has red hair and my chicken pot pie sandwich which was suppose to come on a flakey home made bun came on a regular sesame seed bun and it was rock hard also last time the sand which was over stuffed and this looks like someone threw a chicken cutlet on a roll Would complain but didn’t seem like they wanted me in there anyway when I picked up the food. Didn’t see the owner there I guess when the owner is away the kids with screw up your business

Found this place view Unilocal, oddly i’m only 4 min away & never heard of it. It was a little late to physically go in since we have a toddler so i decided to go and get take out. I physically went in, placed my order and waited(so our food would be hot) Ordered 2 chicken and waffle sliders, bbq mushrooms, carribean shrimp, bacon max n cheese & wedge salad Staff was nice but got home and the food was ICECOLD, every single thing.(I live one light and 3 stop signs away) Also the bbq mushrooms taste like aluminum(probably due to the container it was in) didn’t even really taste cooked it looked dunked in saunce and spooned in) Maybe i just went on a bad night, since it was packed and overheard a 20minute wait… But sadly we won’t be coming back.

I ordered take out. I got the Topper burger, Teriyaki Sesame wings, the Chicken Salad Sammie and the Bacon, lobster mac and cheese. The burger was great, good flavor and would definitely order again, wings were also good but would have liked it to be crispier, as I like my wings well done and crispy. Chicken salad sammie was also good. The mac and cheese dish was also pretty good but can’t see how they can charge $ 24 for it since it had minimal lobster meat in it. All in all, I’d come back, food was pretty good.

Fantastic. The nachos are incredible. If nothing else, order these. I also had the braised short rib. The meat was tender and absolutely delicious. The mashed potatoes, also incredible. The spinach was a bit overwhelmed with garlic, but that’s about it. Service was attentive and friendly, if a bit slow. Definitely a welcome addition to the area!

I came back for the Nachos(my daughter’s fave) and decided to try the Fried Chicken. Holy Smokes!!! Who is the chef and how does she do it?! The chicken was crunchy and crispy and yummy and don’t even get me started on that effin’ gravy. I want to spend Thanksgiving at her house!

Been here twice. The first time I went the food was pretty good. And then the second time it was hairy, literally. More than one hair in the nachos my friends and I had ordered. They were good about it but once we found the second hair we were a little more than turned off and we weren’t able to enjoy our dinner. It’s a hit or miss… glad I experienced it but I won’t be back there.

Um… I’m still hungry! Well, a friend of ours recommended this place and growing tired of the same old pizza and Chinese places we were more than happy to give it a try. In theory, this place sounds really good. A gastropub of sorts. The menu sounds full of flavor and unique(for Staten Island at least) dishes. The prices aren’t cheap but when you read what you are getting, money isn’t an issue. So you think… The burgers are small. I’m talking McDonalds Big Mac is bigger. The toppings are barely there. The flavor is decent but there isn’t enough of it to truly make up your mind. At $ 13 you would think you wouldn’t be able to finish the whole thing judging by the menu description. The fries? They give you about 8 of them. The biggest disappointment was the salad I ordered. It’s called«BAT» which I assumed was an acronym for«bacon, arugula and tomato. On the menu, the salad is described as having«smokey applewood bacon lardons, crisp baby arugula & Roma tomatoes» «finished with crunchy kettle chip crumble» what they don’t tell you is that the bacon lardons are practically non existent(3 of them in an entire salad?) and those are NOT Roma tomatoes. Don’t insult my intelligence. Let’s not forget the wise chips thrown on top of the salad. 100% not kettle chips. Not even close. Here’s a suggestion-just rename it the«A» salad because it’s nothing but arugula. I could have went to trader joes and bought a bag of their arugula rocket lettuce for a $ 1.99 instead of wasting $ 11 on this waste of time. I swear I’m still hungry. There was nothing to this meal. At the end of the day, Staten Island tries to hang with the big boys of Brooklyn and Manhattan with these«trendy gastronomical ventures» but in the end they just aren’t up to snuff. A menu full of fancy words and crazy prices does not make a restaurant worth it as evidenced here. Don’t waste your time or money.

We heard this was a pretty good restaurant so we gave it a shot. It’s a good premise Greeted pleasantly at the door and we were seated right away. Clean place, very bright, waitress came over took our drink order which came quick. We ordered the Apps which came quick, but the Entrée 2 Burgers took a while which I thought they were just cooking to order so I ordered another beer. Burger came out under cooked my wife’s burger ½ of it was undercooked. I think they need better control of their kitchen, a good expeditor? May work. Someone should check the temperature before it leaves kitchen. I will try it again, menu was interesting.

Myself and a buddy of mine wanted something different and heard about this establishment. We arrived to a semi packed restaurant with food being bussed by multiple servers. We were extremely hungry from a long day so we were looking forward to this meal. The menu was filled with different dishes with cool names. The prices were moderately priced($ 12+ on average) I decided on the Monkey Burger, which I have read on other reviews was a good deal. To be honest it was not that impressed with it. I felt the burger itself was not seasoned well enough and had no taste. The 9oz burger did not fit in the pretzel bun, and it was very sloppy to eat. I ended up using a knife and fork to finish it up. The banana taste did stand out. Again, it wasn’t amazing although I was not hungry afterwards. The interior décor was decent. Staff was outgoing and friendly. Bill came to $ 45 for 2 people.

Ok folks, I went I tried and I was left very disappointed. After reading many mixed reviews and friends opinions I took a shot. Let’s begin with a very terrible location. The Parking lot is very small/tight quarters and if you value your door panels and bumpers look for street parking. When walking into Twisted Dish the kitchen can be seen from entrance with workers leaving door wide open for viewing. After walking in and waiting about 10 minutes at the hostess table a waitress walks over says give me a minute to sit you. I’m a party of two I counted 6 open tables but yet took another 10 min and the bartender walks over and seats us. I had to dust off my chair from bus boy who’s idea of cleaning a table is brush all crumbs violently off table to floor and everywhere else.(I was able to watch this while waiting for a table). Now I’m about 10 min sitting at table awaiting a waitress to approach. Now I feel for the understaffed waitresses but it’s no excuse management needs to figure out the staffing. 2 waitresses for over 25 tables w 3 or more people at each table is not good for customer service or even quality service. To save on time we place our full order in one shot. The appetizer Nacho-Average-Nachos. Very disappointing. Cheese was over cooked on outside and had that sitting around under heat lamp forever look. The center was cold and cheese wasn’t even melted. The chips were overly salted which is not how to add flavor. We were so hungry we grinned and barred with it as we do not like sending food back. The entrée B3 Burger which is a 9oz Hamburger with 3 onion cheese applewood smoked bacon BBQ sauce on everything bun. From appearance it looked great so I couldn’t wait to dive in. Upon my first two bites I could honestly say if I didn’t have this burger it would’ve been a complete fail visiting Twisted Dish. Only complaint I ordered the burger«Medium» and it was more medium rare and unevenly cooked. The sweet potato fries again was a poor excuse for French fries. Extremely soggy and oily. I’ll end on a little high note for those who wish to take a stab at this hit or miss location. The décor is pretty cool with the quotes on the walls and from what I’ve tasted and reviews I’ve read. The burger overall was flavorful. The service was horrendous. The location poor. Highly doubtful I will go out of my way to revisit.

If you follow my reviews you know that my wife and I love to try new places. Tonight, we hit a place that’s been open for just 4 months here on Staten Island — Twisted Dish Tavern. In the spirit of full disclosure, Lisa knows the mother of the Executive Chef. The place is cozy. We got there early(6:15) on a Wednesday evening because we heard how fast the smallish place fills up. We had our choice of seating and decided to cozy up to the bar. After ordering our beverages, it was on the«twisted menu.» Lisa settled on the lobster roll sandwich and I had to try the monkey burger. Here are the menu descriptions of each: LOBSTERROLL — Sweet lobster salad & thick cut applewood bacon on a buttery flaky croissant roll served w/old bay spiced kettle chips MONKEYBURGER — 9oz. handmade burger, smoky thickcut applewood bacon, creamy melted brie, caramelized banana & a sweet brown sugar rum glaze served on a warm salted pretzel roll Yes, you are reading that right… banana on a burger! That’s why I had to try it! Short review… everything was great! Longer story… yes, banana works very well on that burger… a great sweet balance with the smokey bacon and salty pretzel roll! Brilliant! My wife’s lobster roll was excellent. Sweet lobster… smokey salty bacon… and the old bay dusted chips were the perfect complement to the roll. We are excited about going back and trying something different on their great menu! one thing, as a tavern, it is just a bit more pricey than what you might expect. Not terrible… just a bit more than you might expect. But WELL worth it!

Love that this great new restaurant is so busy like it is. Love the great unique dishes they push out of this place but they still def need to work out the small kinks since they are brand new. The staff is super nice always checking on you to make sure you have everything you need. All in all I am a big fan. Def come visit.
