Horrible service ever! Two times we went and sat at the bar and saw over 5 workers standing around talking and no one helped us for over 5 minutes. Once we ordered the first time it took over 30 minutes to get our food and we were late for the movies. The second time tonight we ordered 2 salads and again after 25 minutes no food. We were doing carry out too. So we asked to speak to the manager and was told he was making our food and never came out. There were all kinds of employees just standing around and not doing anything. So we just left and will never go back. The manager should be fired!

We stopped in before a movie and found Happy Hour! I hadn’t been to a Max & Erma’s in years. We ordered the boneless chicken wings. Loved them. We ordered drinks and they were priced great and tasted great too. I ordered the Salmon dinner and have to say it was so perfectly seasoned and cooked. The asparagus was tasty and the salad with roasted tomatoes was a great paring. Our waitress, Mary, was perfectly attentive. Great dining experience.

First time there, Saturday early evening, staff is friendly, nice place tasty food but the portions for our Entrée was very skimpy! We had a coupon for a free appetizer, got the chicken quesedias not bad, if we did not get a appetizer we would of left hungry, very hungry!!!

Usually good but tonite not so much. First off their pop machine was down, so no pop of any kind. My husband and I each had a cup of tortilla soup which is usually really good, it was ok but mine had something dark and crunchy in it, maybe a really burnt tortilla strip? Didn’t look like one though. My 5 year old had chicken strips and they looked kinda of burnt to me. My 1 year old had grilled chicken and it was on the dry side. I had the summer strawberry salad and that was actually pretty good. Maybe this place is going down hill a bit.

Stopped by for lunch yesterday. There was an item that looked really good on the menu, Tony’s Bodacious Bacon Burger, and ordered that. At first our service was good, she was very positive and friendly but after we ordered our drinks, she brought the wrong drink and when my wife had to ask for her drink, our server apologized. It’s all good, I can understand how repetitive orders must sound. When our food arrived, I was completely dissatisfied with the appearance of my burger, but I didn’t complain. However, I did have to pull off the buns because they were soaked in grease. The burger was less than good, the description said there was a good amount of bacon but what I had was a small pile of bacon chips(maybe the size of a silver dollar). Again, I didn’t say anything because this is Max & Erma’s, you get what you pay for. After we finished, we had to wait. When the server finally stopped by, we ordered their cookies, 3 of each. Twenty minutes later(it was not busy), we had a pan of 6 chocolate chip cookies delivered. I can understand getting an order wrong once but twice? To me this shows that you weren’t listening or you just didn’t care. She took the cookies off the bill, which was nice of her. We just wanted the bill. We were going to tip in cash. My wife went to use the restroom and the server picked up the bill. She noticed the dash on the tip line and threw me a nasty look(again, I understand because she didn’t know that we were going to tip with cash). But when she passed one of her coworkers, she made it well known how she felt, and loud enough for me to hear. I didn’t appreciate that. When my wife got back and pulled out the tip from her purse, we decided that $ 2 was appropriate. In my opinion it was unprofessional to make comments about the customer, in their presence. I wish she would have asked me how my experience was and if there was something that I didn’t like, instead of talking about me while I sat right there.

Pretty nice Max & Erma’s. My boyfriend and I were headed to Texas Roadhouse before the TSO show at the Palace recently, but there was an hour wait, so we went here instead. We had the garlic mozzarella kabob appetizer which was good, it’s basically like mozzarella sticks but literally ON a stick. I was trying to be «good» so I ordered some sort of chicken breast with rice pilaf, it came with a tasty sauce. I’m signed up for the M&E rewards program, but since I hadn’t been for a while(I believe the Birmingham location closed a while back too, which is closer to me) you have to go 6 times before you get a certain percentage off your bill — so this 1st time did count towards that. They do free cookies on Wednesdays usually or free soup, so it’s worth signing up for. Service was friendly although a little rushed. I’d come back to this location again when in the area, maybe before a movie at the Forum or something.

Horrible. Turn around and eat at Arby’s! –Their customer service sucks. Me an this girl I took out 1st walk in, we were waiting 5 mins to be seating and there’s no one there working or customers eating. It’s kinda like when The goonies walked into that creepy bar they found from the map. –So anyways we finally got seated, waited 10 mins for our waitress to bring us water/take our orders. Waiting 25 mins to bring our food out, waiting 5 mins for a side of ranch. What else?! Oh, we waited 15 mins to speak with a manager and complain about or service. Idk this is my 1st complaint on Unilocal so yeah. Oh btw, I never heard from that girl after…

It’s times like this that I wish there was a zero star option. I’m not normally one to quickly complain about restaurant service as I’ve worked in the business for years, but this was easily the WORST dining experience I’ve had EVER. I arrived on a Sunday night around 8:00(not busy at all inside) with a party of 9 people, which I understand is not a small party. We ordered drinks and two appetizers. It took 45 minutes to get our apps and over an hour to get our first round of drinks we ordered when we were initially seated. When we finally got our food an hour and a half later(without any explanation or apology about why it was taking so long) over half of our orders were incorrect. The meals were completely different than what was described/pictured on the menu… One person ordered the double double burger and the two patties together were not even the size often normal patty at any other restaurant. The waiter did offer to correct all the mistakes and to bring the missing/incorrect items, but by the time they brought the stuff out the initial dishes were cold and not even worth eating. When we brought this up to the seemingly inexperienced manager, she offered to comp only the meals that were badly messed up and we were still expected to pay for everything else, including the drinks that took over an hour to receive. Do yourself a favor… Skip this place and go to wild wings in the same plaza… Or literally anywhere else but here.

Came here for dinner yesterday; unimpressive menu and less than expected quality. Waiter was nice and respectful but it will be my last time coming here.

Came here for lunch yesterday for the first time at any Max and Erma’s. The décor was very cool and the whole dining area was very clean, a server came quickly and gave us our drinks and then disappeared for maybe 5 minutes after we were ready to order. A male server came and took our order and said that she had taken off, it was 4:00 so probably a shift change no big deal. I ordered, I forget what it’s called, but basically a grilled chicken breast, asparagus and potatoes, and it had a sauce in the picture on top of everything that I had asked for them to put on the side. He ordered Tony’s Burger it had bacon and some garlic butter he was happy with it but thought there was to much butter falling off the sides of it. Oh and we also got a coupon in the mail for a free appetizer which we chose buffalo chicken tenders. The five tenders were really good, crispy, and tender on the inside. We were both really excited to see our food coming, they set the plate in front of me and I see the sauce had been dumped on everything): disappointed I pointed it out immediately he said«Sorry, I told the cook and didn’t check it before bringing it, I thought he knew what he was doing. I’ll have another one out quickly would you like a complimentary soup while waiting?» I thought that was really nice and got a potato soup which was pretty good. When my food came out, roughly 10 minutes after, it was delicious! I ate everything off my plate! The server was great on refilling our drinks quickly and getting our bill when we asked. However, when we received our bill we were charged for the appetizer, remember the coupon we brought? It was still sitting on the edge of the table so I just brought it to him and he fixed it quickly. It was an overall good experience and we will return.

How do I get disappointed by thee? Let me count the ways. The hostess: She led us so slowly and paused too long twice, so much so that I thought she was seating us and made a move to slide the chair out. Finally in our seats, the hostess lingered while we were looking through the menu, which I didn’t realize she was doing until she kept talking. She not only asked us how we were but asking how my holidays were and whether I did anything fun that day. But it was all in the not too sincere way, and it honestly creeped me out. The server: The only explanation for the service was that the guy was new. He was attentive enough — came over right away when our drinks were empty to ask if we wanted refills. But I specifically asked for lemon with my water(which he repeated). And at the end of the meal, he forgot the cookie that came with my brother’s combo. And the oddest of all was when I was having a hard time deciding whether I wanted a specific burger. Instead of recommending another burger, he asked whether I wanted to go with a chicken salad instead. What are you trying to tell me!!! Not cool. While I’m nit-picking, I should also throw in that he appeared to have no clue about the restaurant’s reward system, which is why I’ll chalk this up to him being a newbie. Oh yeah, he also brought out the wrong size order of appetizers. I asked for the smaller order, he brought out the bigger size, which we were also charged for. The manager: A manager who makes the rounds at restaurants is nothing new. But this manager, as we made eye contact, walked right past our table, then backtracked to clear off our table. A piece of advice: A smile won’t kill you. It was just a weird experience overall. Disappointing, too, because this is my favorite chain restaurant. I’ve been to this location before, but we sat in the bar area and had a great time. I guess I should mention the food, finally. The Erma-sized mushroom and swiss burger is the smaller size — that’s smaller sized patty. The bun was WAY too big for a patty that size, and it felt like I was just eating a bun.

Max and Ermas has always been a favorite place of mine to go for some food, their menu is always changing, and yet like to keep it fresh with new ideas to keep a nice variety out there. One of my utmost favorite items on the menu there is their chicken tortilla soup. Cheesy, spicy, and downright flavorful… Which always hits the spot on a chilly fall /winter day. This particular location, I’ve had at least 4 separate occasions where the service was quite lackluster. However, as long as they keep their soup going… I’m pretty sure ill enjoy the place again and again.
