Not «Speedy»… I hope to try them again someday, but I went in on a Monday morning at 9am to get an oil change and was told I would have to leave my car with them and they might get to it that afternoon. Instead I skipped using the Speedy coupon I had, paid $ 10 more someplace else and was done in 15 minutes.

Whether it’s a quick early morning oil change, a new motor or a transmission flush that you need… This shop will take care of you. The new staff is professional, honest and they go out of their way to educate customers on what’s going on with their vehicles. This shop is fairly busy so scheduling an appointment for service is the best way to get in and out quickly. Take a minute to talk to the staff– they care about about the community. Making sure every single customer leaves happy is really important to them.

I recently took my 99 Sebring here to diagnose a battery/​starting issue. I was going to end up getting a new car anyway so I really had no intention of paying for repairs. I made it clear for them to not continue working on the car and one mechanic said he would like to buy the car as is. He originally offered $ 300 which I would’ve taken but then turned around and listed a laundry list of problems saying he’ll give me $ 50 which I declined. He had earlier mentioned to me that he fixed the problem and had the vehicle running. He tried to scam me but I instead drove (pushed) the car elsewhere as it died during the trip back.
I would never recommend this place the mechanics are jealous of people who can afford new cars.

have gone to both the speedy in troy and this location. this location has recently made me change my mind on ever going back. I had a catalytic converter rattling around in my blazer. so i called around trying to find a direct factory replacement. after locating one that wasn’t too ridiculously priced, i looked into the particulars of the repair, seeing that it was going to take more effort and time than i was willing to spend in 20 degree michigan weather, i called a few mechanics to see how much this repair would cost me using my part, almost every place i called said they would run at least $ 200, but when i called speedy on van dyke i was quoted $ 90. i explained this was not a cut and weld cat, but a direct replacement, he said no problem, so i came in and dropped the truck off, 2 hours later i learned my first lesson of speedy auto, the promise «we give written estimates and will never charge you more» doug the manager called me to say there was no way they could do it for $ 90, that they had made a mistake and he would have to charge me more. when asked how much more he explains they would have to charge me 250. thats 50 more than anywhere else quoted. but they had already taken the old one off so i sighed and said ok. shortly after the repair i got a code for p1133. a slow responding oxygen sensor, so i replaced it myself, still had code, while down there i started the car to see if i could test the oxygen sensor circuit and what do i see? the flange from the cat to the muffler is leaking. so i take it back to speedy in van dyke, explain whats going on to doug and he tells me to bring it on back. after dropping the car off i went down the street for a coffee, an hour later i received a phone call from doug explaining that the muffler flange was bent. oddly enough the same one they had worked on shortly beforehand. seems odd that a piece of steel under my car bent itself while my cat was being replaced, the kicker, to fix it doug says, will run me $ 156. not seeing another option since the muffler was off already i learned lesson 2 «we stand behind our repairs» yea. right. I asked how much installing a new muffler would be since that one was getting old anyway, «oh the muffler is in very good shape, i wouldnt replace it» he says. the good news, he «generously» offered to clear the code for free. so i ok them to take 156 of my hard earned dollars to bend a piece of metal. whatever. i show up later to pickup my car. at this point annoyed but wanting nothing more than to pick up my car and get on with my life. i pay doug, he thanks me, the mechanic meets me at the door and proceeds to say something that made my blood begin to boil. «the muffler was very rusted on the inside of its flange, i cleaned it up and put a new gasket on it, but it will probably need to be replaced eventually.»
what?
1. you didnt think to say anything when you installed the catalytic converter, the first time i brought this car in?
2. didn’t i go out of my way to ask how much a new muffler would be??? oh yes i did. right before you talked me out of it. i guess it was better to get 156 bucks in pure profit instead of having to buy any parts to actually fix the problem.
i grab my keys and storm off. not saying a word. knowing that i had been thoroughly abused but not wanting to deal with this for a moment longer. 10. miles. down. the. road. my check engine light comes on, again. for p1133.
so a few days later i say forget this dump and go instead to mr muffler. awesome guys there smoke test my truck. and what do you know. the FRONT flange of the cat that speedy «fixed» leaks as well! they never even pressure tested it!!! i tell the guy at mr muffler this story, he waives the smoke testing fee. charges me 50 to clear the code and fix the leak, and apologizes for this place.
disgusting that in this economy a business is willing to take that much advantage of someone. needless to say, i will be reporting them to the bbb until i get an apology/​refund/​both.
