We went here for a late lunch and the place was half full. The server was courteous and seated us immediately. The hot towels were a lovely surprise and really thrilled the kids. We ordered the satay for appetizers — they were OK, not bad but not great either. For the entrees we had Pad Thai, Malaysian noodles and slow cooked beef. The noodles were both very tasty — well spiced and not too much heat. We were hoping for more flavor in the beef, but it felt pressure cooked — again not bad, but not great either. We will go again for the noodles and pleasant ambiance, and good service. Oh, and the coconut ice cream is amazing!

It’s always good food here. You can’t go wrong. Samosas, curries, and pat Tai are always good.

I have been eating there for many years. Their quality has always been great but their service has always been slow. The goat and spicy chicken dishes are incredible. I always get their traditional dessert as well(can’t remember name). Highly recommend it!

Nice small place, I ordered few dishes to go. Their famous tea leaf salad was ok, nothing extra special. You taste something bitter may be tea leafs itself. Gold mountain noodles and Singapuri noodles were good. Best thing was semolina dessert cake. Very refreshing taste. Fritters with mint sauce were good as well. They charge 10 dollars for smal portion size, as said in other reviews either increase portion size or cut down on rates. Will return again to try some more dishes. Overall liked Burmese cuisine.

The décor of this place is really nice. Very subtle and thought out. The food is okay. I wouldn’t say I had anything here that makes me go wow. They had good summer roll and their tea leaf salad is good. I think their portion size is too small. A 11 $ tea leaf plate looked like 6 $ small plate. They could work on their portion size and reduce the price.

The fish curry is sublime — tender, juicy, such a wonderful mix of flavors, mixed with a stew of veggies that complement it perfectly, generous portion. Must try. The street corner chai was nostalgic because it tasted just like the chai(or cha-ha) that I had from a spot in India. Thick texture with a good mix of sweet and spice.

After all these years, I stopped in here and tried Taste of Burma after I noticed it’s very high ranking on TA. I got mine to go. Sat at a table and drank a beer while I waited. The place had a nice atmosphere, on the small side, but very comfortable. I got the chili chicken and the spicy green beans with beef. I was pleased with the food and would agree with some other reviews that is a cross between Thai or Chinese, maybe a touch of indian spice. 2 meals and a beer being $ 30 seemed a little pricey to me but it did last me a couple of days eating so not that bad. I would return.

Most dishes are spicy. Had basil chicken and ginger salad. Very delicious. Weekday dinner time is near empty. Good to have a quiet environment.

I came here with a group of 10 people and we ordered many dishes that we shared with each other to get a taste. We had the pork with pickled mustard, the fermented tea leaf salad, goat curry, mandalay noodle, a seafood dish which I don’t remember the name. The food was really good. The portions were okay. The food took a long time before it came out and they only had one waiter for the entire restaurant. They ran out of the 3 layer pork and forgot to tell us, so we waited close to an hours and ½ before we asked them about the dish. Based on the slowness and the portion, I gave it a 4 star. Other than that the food was fabulous and each dish had it’s over flavor and intensity. I would come here again but when they aren’t so busy.

Nice atmosphere for family casual. I like the art work deco up the place. You can see the pic. Service can be very nice. My server gave me a hot moist towel, like back in thailand. 5* we have 10 ppl and dishes are coming out sloooow. The tea salad is very nice. It has a green tea, curry, mild vinegar, and other complex spices. 5* Mandarin noodle is very good. The chewy texture with that solid spicy sauce packs nice heat. 5* Goat(not gamey) curry and beef curry make with lemon gress, spices and fish sauce, are both great 5* Pumpkin curry is outstanding. 5* spicy mustered pork has the most tender pork I have had. 5* So while the wait was long, it is well worth it.

Stopped in for lunch. I had the samosas, hot and sour lemongrass soup, and spicy chicken stir fry. All of the dishes were properly spiced, not weak western style but not overwhelming either. The chicken was tender. Very fresh and crunchy veggie ingredients. The staff was attentive and I ended up with more drinks than I ever needed, which is a good thing. The place isn’t fancy but doesn’t try to be. This is a solid spot for lunch or a casual dinner. I will definitely eat here again.

Amazing. Simply amazing. Shared a couple of items with my friend and both of us were impressed~!! Restaurant ambience was good and service was friendly too. Tea Leaf Salad: this is a very unique taste… with fermented tea leaves and lotza peanuts too. Very flavorful and we like it~! Pork and Mango: the chunks of mango burst with flavor when you chew on them… the pork was very well cooked too~! Coconut Chicken Curry: amazing. Simply amazing. From the fragrant coconut curry gravy to the super tender chicken meat… wow. Coconut rice: Sweet rice with coconut fragrance ingrained into the rice… delicious~! Cream of wheat cake: this reminds me of Nyonya Kueh back in Singapore. They served it warm… and it was very flavorful and nice~! Definitely coming back when I’m in the area~!

This place is absolutely superb. A Taste of Burma is a small, somewhat unassuming place in Sterling. It’s cute and well-appointed, though, so a great place to eat. Prices are remarkably low for the quality and quantity of food, and service is incredibly attentive. The food here is AMAZING. The fermented tea leaf salad itself is worth the price of admission –it’s insanely flavorful in an unexpected and mind-blowing sort of way. I’ve never had such an amazingly flavorful salad, which is really saying something. The Tofu Puckled Mustard Green and Basil Tofu were also amazingly flavorful and had just the right amount of kick that I wanted. Really, I could see it hard to find a bad dish here — everything I tried was perfect. I cannot recommend this place enough — try it!

Can’t recommend. This is not my first Burmese cuisine experience, and I had quite high expectations from this place. Unfortunately, this place fell short on the food quality and taste. We ordered 2 entrees, both were very blend and seemed overcooked. It was difficult to taste any difference between 2 completely different dishes, and they both seemed to be soaked in some kind of unpleasant and unappealing sauce. The food basically looked and tasted unpleasantly. From having Burmese cuisine before, I have to say, this place is far from serving Burmese. Vegetable samosas(appetizer) was quite good though, but I wouldn’t come back for it here, and wouldn’t recommend this place for food.

Solid place that delivers flavors in abundance. From the moment I got my hot towel I knew I would be in for a treat. Wonderful and unique flavors create a rainbow of taste and textures in my mouth that I rarely find. Two salads, one noodle, and a beef dish later I am full. Pressing on with the Shweji cream of wheat cake to close out the evening I am a happy camper.

I came here with a group of coworkers for lunch and ordered the Singapore Street Noodles. Oh how I love a good noodle dish! They were delicious. I planned to take half home for dinner but ended up eating every last noodle. However, it was a nicely portioned dish for the $ 11 lunch special. The dish was very flavorful and was enough for me to want to come back! I also tried the fermented tea leaf salad, as we wanted to try an authentic Burmese dish. It was good and fun to try, but I probably wouldn’t order it again. The service was OK at best. There were probably 15 – 20 of us, but we did have a reservation. Our planned one-hour lunch took almost two hours. Many of us were missing a glass of water, utensils, or a plate. The service just seemed overall slow. However, it is important to note, this is a small, family-feel restaurant. We definitely overwhelmed them with our large group. Through it all, our server stayed sweet and calm and did her best to accommodate us and the rest of the restaurant. Overall, a nice spot. And honestly, how many Burmese restaurants are out there? I suggest giving it a try. I know I certainty plan on trying some other dishes!

I am very confused by the reviews here. Most of these are 4 or 5 stars… so what were we eating??! I ordered the Green Mango Salad and the Chili Shrimp for take-out during lunch hours. Though both tasted disgusting, my boyfriend and I agreed that the Green Mango Salad won the competition. It was mushy and tasted like it had been sitting out for quite awhile. The balance of the salad was also off. There was too much cabbage and not enough mango. Why not just be frank and call it a cabbage salad instead? The Chili Shrimp entrée was salty and boring. There was no effort on the kitchen to make the dish stand out. It tasted like they literally sautéed shrimps and green beans together and tossed them in a chili sauce. But unlike the green mango salad, this dish was edible :) Perhaps our food tasted so terrible because we didn’t dine-in? We paid $ 26.50 for these two dishes. I was semi-shocked at how expensive it was, but try to imagine how I felt after I had a taste of the food. Not worth it. But it was a small price to pay for figuring out where to avoid for future food excursion. The only good thing that came from this experience is that we finally learn where Burma is.
