Barakat Orthodontics

Aprox 5 years ago, my youngest daughter had a terrible experience over 4 months at Dr. Barakat’s practice. Dr Barakat recommended cutting my daughter’s jaw in two places (at EXTRA COST) instead of the standard orthro treatment. In addition, Dr Barakat terminated treatment before it was complete and removed daughter’s braces after we paid over $ 1900 for treatment, plus money from a bank loan. Part of the problem with Barakat was her office manager intended to charge over 40% for one late payment; I pointed out such excessive fees were contrary to Federal law; however daughter was quickly terminated as patient. She did return one Visa payment and she returned a $ 4,000 advance loan payment to the bank; however, she kept the $ 1900 and would not communicate except through her office manager and the lawyer who authored a letter advising Barakat would not complete the contracted treatment.
Update: We lost the $ 1900 to Dr. Barakat and we had to start over and pay for entire treatment at a NEW orthrodontist, where the new standard treatment was completed in 2 years without cutting daughter’s jawbone. The new doctor and staff were outstanding from beginning to end (See my later 5 STAR rating of service at WIGER ORTHRODONTICS).
Incidentally, I have rated 8 business firms on Unilocal: I Rated 6 firms as 5 star; and Dr Barakat was the only 1 star rating I have felt compelled to give. Barakat may have improved her PRACTICE in the past 5 years so I hope others experience improved results.
