First time we have been here in a while. We were in the area and thought we would give it a try again. I think we have only been here for organized, parties. It was a Sunday evening at about 7:00 p.m. and the place was basically empty. I was a little surprised. Anyway — we were seated right away. We started with the BBQ spare ribs which I have to say I would not get again. The flavor was good but the meat was not very tender. Very hard to bit off the bone and they did not offer any sauce or spicy mustard to go with it. They were very hot(temperature not spice) and it was almost like they were reheated. Not impressed. The entrees we chose were the Chicken in Garlic Sauce, which is my husband’s regular everywhere we go and the Sautéed Spicy Shrimp in the Thai Basil Chili Sauce. Both were excellent. This is my husband’s second favorite place for Chicken in Garlic Sauce now! The chicken was tender and the sauce was well balanced. It was spicy enough for him but I think it could have used a touch more spice since it was supposed to be a spicy dish. The shrimp were perfectly cooked. Many time they are rubbery and overcooked but that was not the case. The heat was high which was to be expected and the sauce excellent. Both of these dishes will be repeats in our book.

We came here to celebrate a birthday and we’re terribly disappointed. We waited over an hour to have our orders taken, although waiters were walking all around. The Mongolian Beef was undercooked and uninspired. But, the worst was the bug cooked into one of the pancakes! When we showed it to the Manager he seemed to care less! He just said sorry and turned away. When it came time for our check, we were surprised to see that the Manager hadn’t given any type of a discount. When we brought it to his attention, he offered a 10% discount. We will never be back!

I love love this place! 6:00 on Saturday rolled around and I was looking for something quick and easy to snag(because no one wants to cook on a Saturday night). I ordered my usual orange chicken and rice, and a few other things for my mom, but I decided to mix it up a bit and order the port dumplings! MANWASTHAT A GREATDECISION! I ate so many of them I couldn’t even eat half of the chicken! There were about 9ish, which could have been my meal alone. I will most definitely be getting those again soon!

I love this place! This is my favorite local Chinese restaurant. The food is always very fresh and delicious, the service is great(they keep the water glass filled about every 4 minutes). The lunch buffet is awesome and they switch it up from time to time with different foods which I like. They have great vegetarian options. The Duck is delicious and really cool to have them come out and carve it in front of you. The dining room is very large and spacious and its easy to go there with a big crowd. Definitely love this place and recommend it to anyone

Amazing food. So fresh and delicious. If only they delivered. This is the third time we have ordered from here. This is our go to place for Chinese food for sure.

Ordered the rainbow chicken with high hopes. While it tasted fairly good fresh, a little while later it started to taste pretty badly. Oil tasted cheap. I’d give the place 2.5 stars, but err on the side of 3 only because this place is something of a local icon and deserves it.

Fantastic. The lemon chicken and sesame chicken were perfectly cooked, the peach flambé was phenomenal. Will be back!

The price was expensive(13.77 for General Tso) and the food was only good at best. I dont recommend and will look at other options next time.

I wound up here on a whim not long ago and glad I did. They had a weekend all you can eat buffet special that was practically a steal! The buffet had plenty of options, food options and also came with as much soup as you want, brought out by the waiter. Everything tasted great, and and there was hardly anyone in here at all. I hope I dont give away the secret!

First, the not-so-great: the general tso’s chicken was good, but not the best I’ve had. The sauce was thin which caused the breading around the chicken to get soggy. I recommend China Café in Chantilly if you want some really good General Tso’s. I also feel it far better by spending the extra $ 1.25 for white meat only. I prefer dark meat chicken, but not in this dish, apparently. Now! Onto everything else: the string beans side dish was delicious, the tea offered to every table was soothing, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff was VERY attentive! Our drinks were never empty and everyone on staff constantly came by the table to make sure we had everything we needed. I was with four other people(one other person ordered General Tso’s) and no one had a complaint with their food. Their only concern was how to stop eating. I will definitely be by again, but will be trying another dish. Maybe the spicy szechuan wontons I was eyeing when I first came in…

I can only give a review on what I ordered which was the chicken and black bean sauce which was pretty good, but the cleanliness of the restaurant is certainly the worse I’ve seen. The entrance to the place is filthy and the dining area is junky with stuff all over the place. It really needs an update, since cleaning the place would not make a difference. They need a huge remodeling project for that place. Because of how dirty it was, I probably won’t go back.

Had a nice experience at Cheng’d the other night. My husband and I stopped by for dinner after the cirque Italia show at Dulles Center. The restaurant was large and mostly empty but it was about 10pm and they close at 11pm. I ordered the spicy chicken with basil and it was a huge portion for $ 11.99 and came with a side of rice. My husband ordered the combination fried rice and liked it although he thought it was a little bland-he enjoyed my dish much better! We ordered egg rolls for our appetizer and while they were greasy, they were pretty good. The waitress was incredibly friendly and filled out drinks up as soon as they were empty. Our food came out super quick, as did the check when we asked for it. I opened my fortune cookie to no fortune and the waitress brought me over another one. Overall we had a good experience here and if I was in the area again I would stop by.

I lived in Beijing for three years and I know authentic Chinese food. Avoid this place if you crave authentic Chinese food. The service is prompt and friendly but the food isn’t worth the price.

Proportions are huge! The food is great quality and reasonably priced. My family usually gets a bunch of meals Togo and we make a little buffet. The sesame chicken is my favorite but we get a few other things there. I’ve been coming to this resteraunt since I was a kid and I hope they always stay in business.

Walked in for lunch. Décor was dated but clean. Bathrooms were slightly hidden near a sectioned off portion of the restaurant. Koi pond was filled but no fish could be found. Water service was prompt but nothing was said and the process seemed some what confusing. We just waked up the Buffett which triggered other guests to do the same. The buffet was small, a couple tables lined up with about 7 different options(salad, meal, dessert. Food seemed fresh and tasted good. However, several chucks of the general tso chicken were not eatable and I had to spit them out into a napkin, fat and bone. A waiter finally made his way over and offered us soup with our already full plates of food. We declined. Hot tea and water were always filled and available. Empty plates were cleared expeditiously. As we exited, we walked by a community bowl of after dinner mints that we joked were probably germ infested. Management was sitting in an office and made no attempt to speak to us as we left. Leaving us feeling unappreciated. In general, there was nothing that stands out about chengs other than its tenure within that shopping center.

Can’t believe I have waited this long to upgrade from four to five stars for Cheng’s. Have been here regularly during the last 1.5 years and absolutely love it. The Rainbow Chicken is to die for. Especially when you get it hot and fresh in the restaurant so it’s especially crispy! The flavor is a perfect blend of spicy schezuan with just a hint of sweet balance. The veggies are plentiful with that dish too. I’ve tried other dishes, and they’re all great, but I just keep coming back to this one. It’s a 6-star dish! Also, I’m a big fan of the tofu vegetarian spring rolls. Service is always good, the price is right and the location is easy to get to and always bustling but never crowded.

I know Chinese food and this place was pretty good. Still«Americanized» but definitely more authentic than I expected. The service was good, too, which is a rare thing I say when I visit Chinese restaurants. There’s a koi pond there, too, which my daughter loved. I had to watch her like a hawk b’c I was pretty sure she was going to fall into it. Nicely decorated, good food. I’d love to come back again the next time we visit the area!

It was alright ! I actually was stuck in the area with a bunch of cousins and we couldn’t decide on a place We went in here super hungry and so everything tasted okay, but the serving sizes are really small and they literally give you 6 or 7 prawns per entrée. If u really have to come here try their Thai basil and ginger based meats(chicken and shrimp) those actually hit the spot! Nothing to rave about nothing worth mentioning! But they fed us all with love and great quality and we were the last to leave aswell and they were nice about it !

Pay close attention: I give them 5 stars not for their food alone, but for their food + customer service. My go to Chinese dish is always General Tso chicken so of course that is what I ordered. I did not notice the small print that said it comes with dark meat unless otherwise specified. I am not used to dark meat from Chinese places so I was surprised and thought it tasted gross. However, they were SO nice when we called them about it and offered to remake my dish with white meat– no charge. And it was delicious! So the food itself is probably 4 stars but I gave them the extra star for being so nice.

I went here because a colleague wanted to. I’ve worked across the street from Chengs for 12 years and have never gone in. I don’t plan to go again. It’s not a 1-star review because if they decided they really wanted to, I would go. I’m not that opposed, but it has no attraction for me. First off, as a vegetarian, there is basically nothing on the lunch buffet. I didn’t enquire about their soups, but hot and sour soup often has chicken broth, and these folks didn’t look like they would go out of their way to make it vegetarian. Two of the five of us ordered off the menu for lunch. It took a while. Our colleagues were completely done by the time our food arrived. I had the vegetarian mini spring rolls and tofu with vegetables. Both were unremarkable. Just two doors down is Saigon Café, where the Vietnamese food is much fresher, tastier, and seems to be made from higher quality ingredients. There are plenty of other places in this same shopping center that I like a lot better. I won’t be coming back to Cheng’s unless I must.
