I’ve always came to this firehouse!!! It’s great I get greeted as soon as I walk in everytime and service is fast with the food tasting on point!!!

The service at this one is always soooo nice. If I ever have a problem with my order, they’re on top of it. I really want to like their food on the other hand, but the fact that they steam their sandwiches kinda weirds me out. I hate pickles, and my sandwiches ALWAYS come out tasting like pickles. I get the steak and cheese and it consistently has that odd pickle taste. I moved on to the bbq brisket sandwich, that one is good but still has pickle undertones. Who knows. Someone let me know when that goes away

I am very surprised to say that I like firehouse subs better than subway. I tried the meatball sub. I loved how warm and well seasoned the sub was. The environment was very welcoming. The stuff was very friendly. I truly enjoyed my experience there.

The subs are always terrific and the staff is great as well. My favorite is a smokehouse beef and cheddar, add extra barbecue and it makes the best. My husband loves the Italian.

Food is great. Staff sorta weirdly quiet though. Seems friendlier at other locations. Sub was awesome.

I like Firehouse because they’re different than the the other sandwich shops, you will be greeted as soon as You step foot in the door, I love the variety of different types of sandwiches that they have, I like the the whole firemen theme and I always round off my bill for donation Now the sandwiches aren’t the best that I’ve had but they are good, I’ve tried the meatball, smokehouse brisket, Italian and turkey and they were all good, they need to do a better job of displaying what items you can get on your subs they often just ask if you want it fully involved which is everything but you may not know what that consists of and some people don’t want to the line up by asking questions(I do and so should anyone paying for anything) this is the negative that I have to say about Firehouse Give them a try it’s a little different because the meat is steamed but it’s still good food

Definitely my favorite place to get a sub. I like just about all of the sandwiches on the menu(cant say that about other places). I go out of my way to visit Firehouse even though there are other sub options closer to my house.

I ordered the Grilled Chicken Breast, a ‘hot sub’ menu item. Compared to Subway’s grilled chicken sub, this was tastier. The whole sandwich was warm. The bread was lighter, thinner, and more scrumptious. The grilled chicken cutlets were tastier then the tasteless single mass Subway puts in each half sub. The grilled chicken at Firehouse was juicy, warm, but still kinda salty like typical processed chicken breast. I didn’t get the mayo and mustard it comes with, but I didn’t feel like the sandwich needed it. It was a good sandwich but for a footlong, it was not as filling as Subways. It wasn’t as big of a sub and only came with provolone cheese, tomato, white onion, and shredded lettuce as fillings, along with a pickle wedge. For $ 8.29 + tax it was decent for a one time try. I doubt I’ll be back. I like the tons of vegetables Subway puts in their subs and how they use red onion instead of white onions.

Their meatball subs are seriously stellar. I almost didn’t go in, but the sign said that they had the best meatball subs. Wow.

Ive been there twice and so far Im not impressed. The place is clean and the people are cheerful. For the price, the sandwiches are small and nothing to write home about. For the same money, you can go to Jersey Mike’s in the same shopping center and get bigger sandwiches that taste better. So I just noticed Matt O of firehouse responded to me. Well Matt, I gave FHS another chance, albeit a different restaurant. My opinion is unchanged. I will not be going back.

Not a lot of choice and not much selection in terms of fresh veggies and such. The staff is friendly and fast, and the prices are reasonable, but the menu just seems mostly like different variations of the same turkey or beef sandwich. Not my jam. BTW I ended up having the meatball sub, but I wasn’t a huge fan of all the sauce or the flavoring of the sauce.

My wife and I heard their ad on the radio and decided to check it out for lunch on Friday. The place is clean, staff is super friendly and it provides many opportunities to donate to first responders which is typically our primary donation choice anyway. I had the Steamer with lettuce and tomato and my wife had the special Hawaiian pork sandwich. They also have one of those soda machines that let you mix and match flavors. Fun, but give me too many choices and folks behind me soon start to wonder if I’ll ever make up my mind ;) The food was brought out in a few minutes, no major wait. The place was busy, not packed. Both sandwiches were fantastic. The meat was tender, toppings fresh, bread was good as well. The pork on my wife’s sandwich was awesome. Deep smoky flavor and super tender. For a sub shop we give it five stars. Neither of us are a fan of Jersey Mike’s, Subway just isn’t good. The two sub shops that I think compete with Fire House are RJ’s deli in Leesburg and Primo Hoagies, also in Leesburg. Pot Belly too I suppose. They all have their uniqueness and should be considered for your lunch break rotation! We are going back today for lunch! Definitely go and check it out.

I really don’t understand what the big deal is about this place?!? I was in a hurry and stopped by for a «quick» bite. Well first it took forever to place my order. Second we waited another 15 min for the meal. The sandwich was OK but nothing special. A run down sub shop is 10 times better. the worst is we got 2 subs 8″ each…$ 14.50! WHAT… ok let me get a bottle of water $ 1.89WHAT? What a rip off. @josh H Look out subway? you gotta be kidding me…

First Time here, pretty good not bad, I think the steam makes the meat taste kind of weird. I like potbelly better because they actually toast the entire sandwich and not just the bread. I ordered the steak and cheese. It was just ok . Pro: big sub Cons: steamer makes it taste weird

I had heard some good things about Firehouse Subs, so I was looking forward to trying it out and comparing it to Jersey Mike’s, which is right around the corner. I ordered the cheesesteak because I like Mike’s. I know they don’t have a grill at these types of sub shops, so wasn’t expecting anything spectacular, but it was not good at all. The onions gave it a weird taste and the meat was sort of chewy. I could only eat half of the sandwich. The Italian was also nothing to write home about. The meats are sliced thicker than Mike’s and the quality seems lower. Oh well, at least I tried!

We moved to NorVa from Florida about 13 years ago and we have missed the Firehouse Subs that were started in Jax(Hey, ESPN — We refer to Jacksonville as JAX, not JAC) and that was well before the more recent Potbelly’s. This place make sa fantastic sandwich. Once I had my first taste of the Hook and Ladder, the first in many, many years, it brought back memories. This is a place I plan to frequent much more than all of the other lunch places on my list. Firehouse Subs, I have missed you so much and I now no longer have to drive down to Fair Oaks to get a sub there. Thanks for opening in Sterling. Is Reston next? Tell me it is!

With a catchy name like«Firehouse Subs», I was expecting a deli experience to be reckoned with. Sadly, what I got was an experience in cliché. Firehouse Subs does nothing more than take the four most cliché aspects of Subway, Quiznos, Potbelly’s, and Santinis and sandwiches(no pun intended) them all together. Here’s the breakdown of that reference; They give you a small sub like Potbelly’s, with little to no meat as you would get at Subway, toast it like they would at Quiznos, and charge you a premium price like at Santinis. This is anything but a recipe for success. I’ll admit openly that I didn’t eat here, and quite honestly, I didn’t need to. My eyes took in all the food that I needed them to in order to determine that this was not the place for me. I simply stood back and observed the orders of several patrons before me, and then upon seeing what they got made my decision to get a sub elsewhere(The Deli). I’m big on quality and most importantly quantity for my dollar. Firehouse didn’t fit this bill for me. It missed on so many levels, and most importantly by skimping on the meat. The meat is what makes a sub, and to serve paper thin slices in low quantity isn’t going to be the sub my mouth is looking for. In today’s market you need to stand out among the rest in order to make it. Unfortunately for Firehouse Subs, they appear to have done nothing more than built a restaurant on the bits and pieces they were able to «borrow» from other chain based establishments. Unfortunately for them, there are a fair amount of better alternatives(some are in that same shopping center) if you’re looking for a sub.

When checking my Unilocal account every day, I have a routine. I see who among my Unilocal friends has new reviews, then I start reading. The other day, I noticed that Jon K. reviewed Firehouse Subs in Alexandria. He liked it and gave it 4 stars. Next, I noticed that Mo A. also reviewed Firehouse Subs in Gambrills. Like Jon, he, too, gave it 4 stars. Mo had put up some photos. The subs looked so good that it made me hungry! Two Unilocal friends reviewing the same sub shop chain on the same day certainly got my attention! So…I got to wondering where the closest one to me is. I was pleased to see that there was indeed one in Sterling. In fact, it wasn’t too far from Jersey Mike’s! I had my husband take a look at the menu and he, too, agreed it was worth trying. We went there today(on a Friday just before 5 p.m.) and were surprised to encounter a small line at the register. The man at the register was friendly and helpful. Apparently, at this Firehouse Subs, you are asked if you want to donate money to Loudoun County Fire and Rescue. So, at his suggestion, we rounded up to the nearest dollar, donating the change. With the donation, 2 sub combos(a combo has chips and soda) the cost was $ 19.00. I tried their Italian sub. At Firehouse, this is a hot sub. I was curious to try it to see how it compares to Jersey Mike’s and Jimmy John’s. My husband had the meatball sub, again with an interest in seeing how it compares to Jersey Mike’s. Well…I liked my sub. It was far better than Jimmy John’s. However, I must say that so far, I think that Jersey Mike’s has the best Italian sub. Firehouse’s Italian sub has Genoa salami, pepperoni, ham, melted provolone, Italian dressing and seasoning. Jersey Mike’s has provolone, ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami and pepperoni. I got my sub«fully involved». «Fully involved» consists of mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion and a dill pickle spear on the side. I asked them to hold the onion and my request was honored. Jersey Mike’s Italian sub reminds me of the Italian subs that we used to get in the mom and pop sub shops, growing up in MA. I thought that the mustard made the sub too sweet. If I order this again, I think that I would skip the«fully involved». Still, I did think that the sub was okay. My husband didn’t add anything to his meatball sub. He said that he thought Jersey Mike’s marinara sauce was on the sweet side while Firehouse’s was a more conventional sauce. Of the 2 sauces, he liked Firehouse’s the best. We were impressed at the variety of Coke brand soft drinks available at the self-serve machine. I tried a cherry limeade which is not normally found in other places. We will certainly return to Firehouse Subs but we’ll try one of their other subs next time around.

My family and I were lucky enough to be invited to the pre-opening of the new Fire House Subs in Sterling VA. My husband had the Steamer and my son and I had the Engineer. The subs were fresh, flavorful and plentiful! What was really fun was the hi-tech soda machine that allows you to mix and match 100s of sodas by pushing soda flavor buttons on an electric screen. The restaurant is decorated like a Fire House(well of course) and the paintings and pictures are all of the local Sterling Firefighters. Fire House Subs also donates to the local firehouses to help them buy equipment so feel good when you spend your money there.
