Home Design Elements recently completed a kitchen renovation for me, along with substantial updates to two bathrooms. I’m thrilled with the end result. All work was performed to my expectations and on-time. Armando and his construction crew were reliable, hard-working and talented. From the office, Trish communicated with me almost daily to let me know what was happening and help resolve any questions that arose. Now that this work is done, HDE is helping me put the finishing touches on my home with new blinds; Jay has been a great help in answering questions and making sure I get the right product for all of my windows. Thank you HDE!

Home Design Elements put in a basement walkout for me. Of all the people I talked to their price was the best and in line with what I expected. They were easy to work with to deliver just what I wanted. The walkout was done well and the crew was both kind and respectful. They made sure to use the extra dirt to cause the water to flow away from my house and also re-seeded where the grass was killed due to the work. I will be calling them back when I’m ready to finish my basement.

I called 3 general contractors for estimates to finish off 2 rooms in our basement. The smaller room measured about 12′ by 13′ and the larger room was about 18′ by 19′. The smaller room was to be my wife’s craft room and the larger room was to be a media room. Of the 3 general contractors, I got the best«vibe» from Jim Kannar of HD Elements. He was friendly, patient and listened to what my needs/ideas for the rooms were. That’s not to say the other two contractors weren’t nice and polite; they were. I just felt right going with Jim and, after Jim told me a little about how he and his crew operated, I felt pretty confident that he and his crew would do a great job. eArmando, the project manager assigned to my job, was a pleasure to work with. He and his crew were courteous, punctual and cleaned up after every day of work. Their crew consisted of about 3 to 4 guys. They arrived in the mornings around 8 or 9 am and finished their day around 4 or 5 pm. For the media room, I requested that the walls be acoustically insulated. I suggested using Roxul insulation and Jim agreed and said that often used that material for media rooms. On top of that, Jim suggested doubling up on the ceiling drywall to further damp noise from upstairs room… wow! The other two contractors actually steered me away from using the Roxul insulation and suggested using regular insulation(from that, I sort of knew that they weren’t listening to what I wanted and I mentally scratched them off my short list of contractors). When the crew installed the drywall, they used an over abundance(this is a good thing) of drywall screws as opposed to just using nails. This ensures the walls stay true(no sagging or bowing) for many years. I was thoroughly impressed with this technique. Also, the painters were very thorough with their work. They spackled, sanded, painted… then spackled and sanded and painted again to make sure the walls were perfectly smooth and evenly painted. These were just some aspects that probably separates Jim and HD Elements from other general contractors out there. Jim visited the house to inspect the work every few days over the 4 – 5 week period to make sure all was going well. After all was done and I paid my last installment check, I inquired with Jim about another room in the basement that we were considering having finished. To my surprise, Jim recommended that I NOT have it finished and to keep it as a storage room… wow! How many contractors would turn down a project to the benefit of the homeowner? I’d hire Jim and his crew again in a heart beat. His crew, namely Armando and his crew, are a hard working bunch and I appreciate their hard work and attention to detail.

Don’t waist your time n energy counting on this company. I was supposed to meet with the owner for the consultation and the estimate on remodeling my bathroom, instead surprisingly a different designer pops in front of my door without the owner informing me n he informs me right after«I got confused n was freaked out by that» let’s just say poor communication specialy from the owner. I own a small business myself, so I decided to make an appointment n visit the company to see what they’ve got to offer n how is there overall reputation in there business. The owner seemed friendly n since I was late I had to meet with another employee of the company I had zero problem telling the guy what I expect for my bathroom, after the meeting since I’ve send them an email they requested I have not recived one reply or even a call to at least. Communication should be #1 priority in the business n when its lacking specialy with the customers why to bother waisting your time n your money when there are better companies out there that know how to deal with the customer. I learned when you plan to remodel your home the designer should not ask you for the entire cost or even half the amount upfront. Normally it should be %10 first %20 after«while the job is still being done n as long as the customer is still satisfied with the service» then 40% and in the end after walking through with a designer the rest of the amount. This company before did any remodeling asked me for the half down payment without signing the contract and since it was my first time dealing with a designer I made a payment of half the amount n due to personal circumstances that was escalating n was becoming interfere to get remodeling done including the lack of communication I was experiencing from the designer Suzi including the disturbing and rude phone conversation I had came into consideration of asking for the refund of the half down payment I made for nothing and not even one penny been refunded to my credit card we are talking about the refund that was requested on October 2011, November 2011 n February 2012. And to you Jim Kenner and Suzi the designer I will not remove this comment until my half payment that is over half of 10k is fully credited back to my account.
